Two is a Crowd

Treasca yanked her robe firmly back in place whirling to face Brenton. He was reclining in the water his arms braced up on a rock wall of inky black stone. His hair pooled around him in stark contrast to the water that surrounded him. His chest was very distracting so perfectly chiseled he seemed not quite real. There was a tatoo that started on his right shoulder and seemed to winde around him. It looked a lot like the dragon he became.

"I suppose I should have woken you sooner, but I wanted to see if you could do it yourself. I am very pleased you did." Brenton said looking at her like a proud teacher. Treasca remained silent not sure what she was supposed to say about that. Brenton frowned when she continued to say nothing. Really what did he expect that she would fall all over him just because he was pretty to look at?

"Come." He said holding a hand out to her. Treasca glared at him, and whirled away marching back towards the door. She froze eyes widening the door was gone, just gone!

"Oh that, I thought you might try and leave so I got rid of it." Brenton sounded a bit more reserved as if saying it outloud he realized how bad it sounded.

" Am I so terrible? I did some research on Travelers you where going to be sent off to some poor merchant eventually anyways. Here you get to be a queen, stay in one place, and have immortality. Anything you could possibly desire will be yours. Is that really the worst fate?" Brenton asked standing up. The water hit him mid hip letting her see nearly everything she blushed furiously, and tried to look away. Why did he have to be so damned beautiful? She cleared her throat, and said in a whisper because her throat still hurt a lot.

"At least my husband wouldn't have threatened to eat me, or kidnapped me from my family." She wished she could yell at him. What she wouldn't give to really let lose all of her anger and grief. Tears sprung into her eyes she wiped at them furiously not wanting to cry before that monster. When she had control of herself again she looked back to Brenton trying to keep her eyes on his face. Though nearly crying had sobered her considerably.

Brenton stood frozen a very strange look of near pain on his face. He met her eyes, and sighed.

"I think I owe you an apology." He said through clenched teeth as if saying so actually hurt. "I don't know what I can do to make this up to you, but I will try."

"Let me go." She suggested voice barely audible above the water.

"I am afraid I can't do that." He began moving towards her again. She quickly whipped around blush threatening to make her spontaneously combust. He chuckled which made her whirl back in indignation. He had covered himself with a very large fluffy white towel.

"I will leave you be....tonight. I may not be able to reverse that we are bonded now, but I can be patient and woo you properly. I think I will even enjoy it." Brenton said walking past her. He laid his hand gently on her shoulder and said before parting,

"I will do everything I can to make you happy."

Treasca did cry once she was certain he was gone. Huge raucous sobs that shook her entire body. She had never felt so helpless in her life.
