Rest

Treasca stumbled down the stairs the weakness from using her powers too much in such a short time had yet to pass. The world swam at the edges making her feel close to fainting. How long had she rested? It felt like no time at all. She clung to the wall, and just kept moving. She made it to Brenton's office somehow hoping he was there. If he where in his bedroom she had no idea how to get there, and she doubted she could make it back to her room. The prospect of having to sleep on the floor was not a pleasant one. She knocked softly not even able to do that well. She had been leaning on the door too hard because when it opened she fell forward into the room. A strong arm caught her, and Brenton swung her into his arms.

"Are you okay? " He asked face full of concern. Treasca explained about the dream, her voice sounding very tired even to her. Brenton took her past his desk, and through a door she hadn't noticed before. Apparently his bedroom was attached to the office. He laid her gently on the bed, then got in on the otherside.

"What are you doing?" She asked too weak to even blush.

"You need to rest, and I don't think you should be alone. You just get some sleep, and I am going to read and make sure you are alright." He said kissing her forehead gently. Treasca's eyes fluttered shut, and this time she did not dream.

Brenton did actually try to read, but his mind was far to preoccupied to focus. He got out of the bed quietly trying not to make any noise. He paced mind racing from dark thought to thought. If Thalon had not done the destruction he saw, then who and what did? He could start searching through other Dragon's territories, but he worried about attracting their attention right now. The mystery of the creature that led Treasca to a trap also weighed heavily on his mind. Who would want the girl dead? She was a valuable asset in the right hands. That raw untapped power could be very tempting, but if she died the power would be wasted. The Fae may try to slay her to keep her from him, but they where far more likely to just take them with them than kill her. Fae did not give birth easily, so each one was precious to them even if she was half breed. He paused his endless march to look into Treasca's face. His heart banged as it had the moment he saw her. No matter what else happened he had to keep her safe.

Hi readers,
