Midnight Ride

Treasca took the guards weapons and packs loaded them onto one of of the horses. Then she sent the other four horse away compelling them with a light touch. They started down the road towards their stable at a lazy walk. She would just have to make sure to out pace them. The night was pitch black, but thankfully she had a useful spell that she usually used for looking for lost cattle. She covered her eyes with one hand, and sent her magic deep into her eyes reshaping them to be able to absorb more light. It made her eyes look very strange, but at least she would be able to see without alerting anyone to where she was. She then looked down at her skirts in annoyance. They where ment for a side saddle, and definitely not for mounting horses unaided. Treasca retrieved one of the daggers from the pack and sliced the ridiculous dress down both side of her legs. She climbed into the saddle with easy practice, and headed deeper into the woods. It would be foolish to follow the road though it would be much faster. Instead she kept its route in her mind and followed various game trails that went in a similar direction. She kept her pace not wanting to over tire the already over worked horse. The poor mare had only been given about an hours rest.

By the time dawn crested the horizon she had made it just past the guard station where they had changed mounts. She went far around the small fort grateful that she didn't attract any attention. Once she had left it far behind she stopped in a enclosed clearing with a lot of green grass. She gave the horse a long leash before removing the packs and saddle. She was beyond exhausted, but took the time to rub down and brush the horse. Using the packs as a pillow and the cloak as a blanket she laid down under a tree. She needed sleep or she wouldn't make it far without falling off of her horse. The guards would be released from her spell, but on foot she doubted they could catch up to her now. She was asleep as soon as she closed her eyes.
