Answers and Eyes

The guard spilled all he knew into the night air leaving Brenton more frustrated than when he came here. The man obviously knew nothing he didn't already know. The Traveler's had been driven out of the city, but had not indicated where or what they would do next. Brenton rubbed his forehead an ache started behind his eyes. It had been a very long time since any physical ailment plagued him, and he was growing agitated.

"That mayor is a complete moron. Now they will be even more suspicious that something happened to their daughter than ever. You should have pretended to look for her, stage an accident, or something, anything else." Brenton growled his frustration, and turned away stalking back the way he had come. He walked to where the fair had been scenting the air. He could still smell the Traveler's if he tried hard enough. He followed the sent out the gate, and down the path that lead toward the sea. They did not however board a boat. He found them hidden in the trees by the road. He doubted if humans could even see them their unless they where looking for them. Did he dare speak to them? He really did not see how they could possibly know what he was. They may be unfriendly to strangers, however. He didn't fear physical harm, he was no untrained boy, but if they grew suspicious of him they may know something mystical was happening. He sighed turning back the way he had come. Surely they would give up hope eventually when Treasca never returned. He glanced back, and saw several eyes watching him from the trees. Unsure what to do he gave a little wave.

Treasca replaced the glass she had vanished. It had taken more concentration to get it exactly right, but she managed at last. Her pack was a bit heavier than she would have liked, but she felt energized just being outside again. The glass dome just didn't seem to be the same. The sky was growing faint, but there was still light to see by for now. She half jogged heading north rather than to the south where she knew Alonian stood. She guessed her people would still be there, but if she went that direction too soon she would be caught in seconds. She did not know what lay north of the palace, but there had to be something at least, a small village maybe. She moved through the trees with easy practice. She now wondered if it was just years of being in such forests, or something in the fae blood that coursed through her veins. Either way it aided her now. She wasn't even winded somehow. The sky had turned into a sea of stars. She didn't even need to transform her eyes too see. She ran until she felt eyes on her. Something was watching her in the dark.
