1 CHAPTER ONE: BRINK OF DEATH
The night is gloomy, the moon in the sky was shining gloomily while the stars in the sky were still doing their work. It was a night of rest for everyone, the beginning of the year, and the joy of overcoming another year full of danger was vivid in their mind but this was not the same for some set of the people in the red sea of Egypt.
No one knows what was happening in the red sea of Egypt, a legendary sea that was said to be in existence millennia of years ago, and upon crossing it, one would enter the fabled forest of death on the other end of the universe. A forest that many have perished inside, a place that was said to be the primal existence of danger for the human race. To the ordinary people, it was just a forest taken over by the government to preserve unique wildlife but to the top five superpowers, it is a place that makes the earth thrive.
A place where creatures with extreme powers that had never been seen before dwell. A place where the real superpowers controlling the world behind the scenes thrive.
"Splash" It was raining while the tide seem to tear a person's soul was roaring angrily. No one knows that a ship had been wrecked here. Everyone except one perished, the one that survived was fighting with every ounce of his life and it looked like the angry tide will soon subdue him.
"Arrgh" Mark shouted.
The cold was already paralyzing his body while the tides were threatening to tear him apart. The pain he was feeling was unbearable. He was trying his best to fight against the tides even though he knew that it was all futile.
Mark Spencer was a young and talented biologist that was living quite a fulfilled life before this unfortunate incident. His parent died when he was of age but he was able to become a talented biologist who was given a scholarship to study in Oxford University, one of the most prestigious universities in the States. He already has a girlfriend and they were living quite happily until he was summoned by his higher-ups that the president wanted to see him.
He was ecstatic that he was going to see a whole president of a country and he thought that his life was going to take a unique turnaround not knowing that it will be a nightmare for him. The president told him and his other colleagues that were up to a hundred that they wanted them to go into the forest across the red sea to inspect and experiment on a particular creature for a year and give them the result, then when they are back their lives will be transformed.
He was joyful because the job does not have any danger in it, they will be protected by the ultra-soldiers, the ultimate force of America that were equipped with the highest form of weapons that America has invented. He bid goodbye to his girlfriend after telling her that they will marry when he comes back. It was only when they were on the ship they got to know that they were treated as human sacrifice and it was not only them, hundreds of ships were also being transported with them.
The president talked to them through the projector and told them the real reason behind them being deployed. They were treated as human sacrifices to appease the people behind the scenes that were working for each superpower. They were broken and downhearted to learn about what the president said but they had no choice but to resign to fate.
Suddenly, they were being transported when the weather changed. It changed from a clear sky into stormy weather, clouds suddenly covered the sky and there was a heavy downpour which made the water index of the ocean rise again. And this led to a rise in the tide and wave of the ocean which continued getting worst each minute till it got unbearable for the tolerance of the ship and it tore open a compartment and entered the ship. The ship drowned.
"Am I going to die here?" Mark thought in anguish
The rain already stopped, he had been fighting this wave for almost an hour and even though the rain had stopped, the wave was getting worst. He had been holding on because he thought that the wave will soon end but it looks like fate was not on his side.
"Fuck I can't die here," He thought while reviving the dying flames of hope in his heart even though he knew the chance for him to survive is close to nothing. Even if the wave stop there was no way he could swim to the shore with his body. He already sustained many internal injuries and his body was already battered to the extreme.
The cold was chilling and numbing his body, he continued fighting against it while holding onto the little flame of hope in his heart. Gradually, his body was turning numb and cold. He could feel life leaving his body little by little but he was not willing to give up even though he was already losing feeling of his body.
"Arrgh" He shouted in pain. He tried to swim against the wave but he felt extreme pain in his body.
"Hmmm," he sighed finally while resigning to fate after he had fought a futile fight for a long time. He looked at the water, he was probably going to die here where no one would know that he died. The aquatic animals in the sea would probably eat him and he will be forgotten in the stomach of the sea animals and the following month or year they will probably bring another set of human sacrifice in. He closed his eyes as he resigned to fate.
Despite him losing consciousness, his body was shaking occasionally while it floated without direction. Somewhere in his head specifically his brain, something that could be described as a miracle was happening. He will be very surprised if he was conscious because this is what the biologist field has been researching for years without getting a breakthrough. His brain was supposed to die when he gave up because his body had already broken down but it was still surviving, it was now the one operating his essential body part to enable him to not die completely. It was being induced by the danger around him, and it started unlocking its potential.
According to research by biologists, it is said that the maximum potential of the brain any existence can unlock is fifteen percent. It is a myth because the brain is the most mysterious part of the body. Without it, no part of the body can function but, surprisingly, just a measly fifteen percent of the brain is used. It is said that anything above twenty percent is supernatural and the body can't take it because it will increase the body function to an extent they won't be able to take it anymore and the body will break down.
Mark's case is a special one because his body has already broken down but his will to live kept his brain working so the brain is unlocking its full capacity to help his already broken body and without him knowing, it is already bringing him closer to another mysterious section of his body. The Soul.
"Wait which energy is this" A voice was heard and
"Whoosh" A hand emerged from the water and he was dragged into the water immediately
Meanwhile immediately after he was dragged into the water, another thing approached. It soon arrived and it look like a big skateboard that can fly. This is a technology that has not even existed on earth but it was being used by some set of people. On it were three people. Two ladies and a guy, they all have red eyes and the ladies were beautiful while the guy was handsome. They scanned the water.
"The dangerous feeling Seer divined a year ago was from here and we felt it now but it has suddenly disappeared," The only guy said while frowning with displeasure.
"The source must not escape because this is very dangerous for us, you know it threatens us," One of the ladies said while narrowing her eyes.
"And the instrument prepared can't work because of this bad weather," the guy said in annoyance
"Let's go back to Seer. His ability cool down would have ended now" The lady who did not talk among them said. "Let's go before it's too late," The guy said as he nodded in agreement. The hover-board drove away
Not long after they left, a black strange looking ship emerged from the water and drove away. Meanwhile, inside the ship, three people were standing before a pod that enclosed an unconscious body. One of them was an extremely beautiful man and the other two were beautiful ladies and the three all looked like they were in their twenties.
"This body is very peculiar," The guy said while tapping his fingers.
"The energy in the body is very terrifying and it looks like the body can take it," The guy said again while studying Mark's body.
"This also shows that the body is not a product from the planet because it looks like the power is one with the body," One of the ladies said while squinting his eyes because of the energy being emitted from the body.
"That means the energy and the body are one, the body is the source of energy and the energy is the source of the body, one can't do without the other and that's quite strange" The other lady analyzed while looking at the body with marvel.
"Let him wake up first," The guy said as they left him.
