Dracul showed no visible reaction when she mentioned this fact. There was no reason for him to hide his true form if someone discovered it. Especially if the person was perceptive enough to figure out it was him.
"I am. You're not the first one to notice, but you are the first to directly confront me."
A pensive look appeared on her face as she didn't expect Dracul to readily admit it. Her golden eyes flickered up and down from his shadow to his face multiple times, a slight bit of doubt in her mind
'How could a regular be capable of something like that? But at the same time, the facts are right in front of me. I'm sure that he's...that horrifying creature. Maybe...'
The girl seemed to come to a decision as a focused gaze appeared in her eyes. She stared at Dracul, her fists clenched from anxiety.
"What are you, really? Some kind of demon? Or perhaps someone from the Ten Great Families?"
Dracul sunk his hands into his coat pockets as he laughed, his deep, ancient voice reverberating through the halls.
"It's been a long time since someone asked me that question. It reminded me of my friend from the past. Just as I answered him then, I will answer you now."
A pale hand suddenly appeared out of Dracul's shadow and grabbed the girl's leg, holding her in place.
Before she could even react, darkness covered her eyes and a slew of obscene, horrendous scenes started flashing within her mind. She saw one man standing against a legion of human soldiers with no sign of fear in his inhuman eyes.
In the next instant, the man transformed into a powerful beast of mythic origin and flew into the endless human army, rending them asunder.
Every beat of its wings shook the space around it, its maws emitting such flames that the surrounding mountains were being turned into magma.
Seconds.
Only a few seconds.
That's all it took for the human army to be eviscerated from the feeble grip of existence. Only magma, flames, and a man wearing a blood red cloak remained.
The girl already knew who this man was. It was Dracul. Although he seemed much more powerful at this moment. The Dracul she met in the tower felt as if he was missing something compared to this version.
A sort of mystical power that constantly emanated from him.
The girl was incredibly frightened at the scene she just saw.
As she levitated up in the air above the clouds in an incorporeal form, her eyes took in all that was beneath her.
'So much death...caused by one man...why does he do this? Is this his answer?'
As these thoughts assailed her mind, the being on the ground looked up at her, smiled, and said, "Questions later, for now, focus."
With a snap of his fingers, the scene changed completely.
The girl found herself similarly floating in the sky, but this time, she was surrounded by clouds as black as death itself.
Her head was on a swivel as she struggled to find some kind of light within the darkness.
'Where could he be leading me now?', she thought.
Just as this thought passed, the clouds parted, revealing a scene straight out of mythology.
There were two giant beings standing in a sea of black fire.
The first was a woman of ethereal beauty, with strange patterns in her golden eyes and a multitude of snow white wings on her back. In her hand, she wielded a silver spear connected to similarly silver gauntlets, and her white dress fluttered in the wind, somehow untainted by the flames.
In the other corner was a being the girl knew all too well at this point.
'That must be... but why is he so large?'
It was Dracul, but this time he was completely different. He had long raven hair that extended to his waist, a face that was weathered by age but still retained a relatively young appearance and wielded a large jagged broadsword. A pitch black robe adorned his body, while a strange dark mark occupied his forehead.
The girl watched as the two beings engaged in a world shaking battle that completely obliterated all life around them. Who knew how long they fought? Days? Months? Eons? The girl couldn't even keep track.
All she knew was that the world they started on didn't exist anymore. Wherever they were, it was a space where humans shouldn't exist. A subtle feeling within her soul gave her that impression.
The girl continued watching the battle as it came to its conclusion. As she thought, Dracul had won.
'Is he a god? How could one man be capable of all these things? And what is going to happen to that woman now that she lost?'
The girl watched as Dracul laid his blade to the side and plunged his hand into her chest, causing darkness to slowly spread across her body.
When she saw them exchanging words, the girl tried to listen in, but something was blocking the sound.
'Is he...eating her?'
The girl couldn't make sense of what she was seeing.
Moments later, Dracul completely absorbed the woman and looked up at the girl once again, his gaze filled with a certain sadness that couldn't be explained.
"AH!"
The girl barely caught herself as she felt a cold hand suddenly appear on her shoulder. She quickly turned to see a more human sized version of Dracul standing next to her.
"Rachel, do you know why I chose to show you these two scenes?"
Rachel stumbled on her words as many thoughts entered her mind at the same time.
'How does he know my name? What does he mean? Isn't this just who he is? A being that causes death wherever he goes? That's the only consistent part of what I just saw. Only this time, it seems he felt something for what he did because that woman was important to him.'
Before Rachel could respond, Dracul nodded and said, "You're right. But you lack a certain understanding of something."
Draculs black robe fluttered as he clasped his hands behind his back and turned around.
With a loud bang, the scene changed again.
It was a similar one to the first scene. All Rachel saw was death on such a large scale that it was unimaginable that a human could commit such an atrocity.
Even worse, the indifferent look in Dracul's eyes during all of this shocked her to the core.
Different scenes flashed before her eyes, all of them filled with death. But there was something else she started to notice every time the scene changed.
A certain word.
Something that people would say when they referenced Dracul.
Demon.
Slowly, Rachel started to understand what was happening.
She had used the expression 'demon' in her words earlier, but she wasn't serious about it. It was just a figure of speech to describe a particularly eerie feeling human.
Now, she was starting to understand what the word 'Demon' meant.
"Precisely. You had a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation. I was never a human. You think I was committing atrocities when, in fact, it was just another day to me. I may look like one of you, but that's just how I came to be. This is who I am. A Demon King, Dracula, Prince Of Darkness, The Forgotten One, The Dragon Of The End, I've earned all of these names across time. All of them culminate into my most tresasured name, Dracul."
Dracul then turned around and looked at Rachel in the eyes, his gaze penetrating the depths of her soul.
"There's a certain kind of person that approaches someone like me. You want power, don't you? Don't forget, your mind is laid bare before me while you're here, so don't lie."
Rachel clenched her fists as she tried to restrain her thoughts, but they kept coming like a flood. All except one, her deepest secret, something she guarded with her life.
Something Dracul intentionally let her think was still her's to keep.
Dracul shook his head as he saw this.
"You lack resolve. You're not sure. You know, power comes at a price. The you right now cannot pay that price."
Suddenly the scene changed once again as they reappeared in the tower.
"Hello? Wake up! What did you do to her?"
When Rachel reopened her eyes, she was still standing in the halls in front of Dracul. The only difference was that another girl had appeared next to her.
The girl was in the process of questioning Dracul when Rachel grabbed her wrist, her body still shaking from what experienced.
"Rachel, you-"
Rachel pulled the girl with her as she briskly walked away, her steps widening as she got farther from Dracul.
The latter observed her actions with a small smile on his face.
'This is how it always starts. Someone desperate for power, willing to do anything to achieve it, throws caution to the wind, and approaches me. I may not be a human, but I understand them to a certain degree. A seed has been planted within her mind. In her darkest moments, when she can't escape from the ruthless jaws of fate, I will be there like a light in the darkness, a silver lining. Heh, how ironic. Who would've thought that a new demonic prospect would appear in front of me so early?'
Dracul walked away and started heading towards the area where the 'Positioning Test' would take place. More specifically, the class for Fishermen.
They would presumably be trained in their positions, so even Dracul was interested in what they could teach him at this point in his life.
When he got to the classroom, everyone else was already there.
His arrival caused most heads to turn as people tried to stay away from him. Only some regulars didn't seem to pay much attention to him. Anak was among those regulars.
"Hm, you must be Dracul right? You're the last one. I'm ranker Hex, the one responsible for teaching you about the fisherman position."
Dracul nodded at her introduction and listened to her explain what it was all about.
'So basically I'm the vanguard huh? Makes sense. I was the best seed for this position after all.'
Then, Ranker Hex went into a certain topic that peaked Dracul's interest.
"Today, we won't be doing anything crazy. Your first task is just to make a contract with the administrator to use the Shinsu on his floor. I'll teach you."
This woman was the straight to the point type so she didn't dally around with her words.
"First, close your eyes. Then, change the pocket into visible mode."
Dracul listened to her words and easily controlled the floating device between his palms.
"The pockets you received are E-rank so they only allow you to contact administrators up to the 40th floor. Higher ranked pockets are needed for higher floors."
The woman made sure everyone was following before she continued, "Good. Listen up. Now you say to the pocket, 'Contract with the administrator.'"
The pocket made a buzzing sound and suddenly, something started pulling at Dracul's consciousness.
'Hm...I guess I should let it run it's course to see what happens.'
Dracul allowed his consciousness to be pulled and moments later, he felt himself floating as if he weightless.
He opened his eyes and found himself in a pitch black space with a massive eel-like gray creature staring at him.
It was so large that Dracul was barely as big as one of its eyes.
"I'm the administrator of this floor. Are you here to make a contract, ancient one?"
---------------------------------------------------
Alright fellas, I feel like I should mention what the abilities of the MC are so that no one is confused as I go forward. He's pretty much a combination between a much more experienced version of the Demon King from seven deadly sins and Dracula from Castlevania. Specifically, the Lord Of Shadows version. He absorbed the Supreme Deity too but since his magic is gone he can't really use most of her powers nor his. So he really only has his physical innate abilities for now, so like enhanced physicals, dragon form, void sword, chaos claws, shadow whip, darkness, ark, etc. Kinda overpowered for this stage in the story I know.
