"You walk on a thin line, you." said a raspy voice to a man so beaten.

The man gave the old beggar a cold glance, his tattered clothes filthy with blood and mud.

He walked with light steps, trying to overcome the pain from the wounds and slices all over his body.

"Keep it up and I might have some to welcome me to styx" snickered someone to a man so beaten.

The man gave the madman a cold glance, his withering sword, rusty with blood and water.

He moved ever so slightly, as if afraid of the pain from all the cuts and bruises on his face.

"Your sword so dull, your arms so thin

Your lips so sull, your armour mere skin.

What? You must be an orphan" rhymed a damnable voice to a man so beaten.

The man gave the devil a cold glance, he himself was his all and so shall it remain henceforth, or so he was convinced.

Until he stumbled here, in the valleys where death dances. Here, where most don't live, and those who do, will not for long.

"Oh you, the one who is beloved by his stomach, so much so that it clings to your lungs, why are you here ? Here, where you will find naught to eat but to be eaten yourself ?"giggled a woman out of dreams, her skin pale white, her hair a lush green and eyes alike the crystals of heaven.

The man ignored the temptress, his eyes set on a dreadful abode, one that none dare ventured for eons, all the fault of the beast that slumbers within.

It called to him, the temple, in a voice sweeter than any mermaid, and so, among the drifting sands, the mirage of the woman vanished, ever seeking its next victim.

A step inside, he took

Left and right, he looked

Not a soul in sight

And to the blame of night

He took shelter in the halls

Among the dark tall walls

Unaware of the danger that looms

And the pending doom.

He slept so light

Hugged his sword so tight

To the rustling, he awoke

To the beast he awoke

Red, they gleamed out of the darkness.

White, were the teeth of the heartless.

"I speak no lie, I talk naught of fables

Here yee shall die, served on my tables"

"Mercy, I beg of thee

Whatever ye shall ask of me"

On his knees, he layed

To no God, he prayed.

Amused, the beast pondered

To play or to eat

Bemused, the man prostrated

To fight or to flee.

A miracle, one might say

A disaster, that threw them in fray

Collapsed a part of the ruin unto it

Chance that landed unto him.

With all his might, he stabbed

With the hilt of the sword, he grabbed

"The azure flames, that blaze my skin

Roar and burn the beast from within"

The Roaring beast shrieked.

The rampaging beast freaked.

Bewildered, it flailed about.

Weakened, he was flung about.

Bleeding, his sides were.

Broken, they were too.

Azure, was left in the wake.

Allure, of the dark overtook...

And so, we cheer, to the dawn of a new life.

My prouloges are usually for me, more than anyone, they serve as not a foundation, but merely a guide; a lamp that lits the future of the path that is this novel.
