Chapter 7: After a year

In the darkness of the night, a boy only 142 cm ran through the forest. He was fast and nimble, like a shadow jumping up and down. And yet, there was no sound.

Vaiss turned to small Ultraman Vaiss, he floated in the air. Then a person kicked the place he was just now, the assailant looked at the boy and grinned. His legs were like a grasshopper, the hand and neck skin covered in a green exoskeleton, and there was an antenna in his head.

The boy was Vaiss and the attacker was Xian Yan.

Xian Yan and Xian San, whose kick was stopped by the aegis, got splashed by the sap. Their speed rose and ran around Vaiss, looking for a chance to attack.

Vaiss shot two golden energy swords at where Dexter's voice came from.

"First soul skill, Aurora Wall. Third soul skill, Aurora Mirror."

A colorful translucent wall of aurora appeared and then it shined and become like a colorful mirror. The two swords struck the mirror, it cracked but didn't shatter. The swords outside the mirror suddenly disappeared and identical two swords shot out from the mirror, aiming at Vaiss.

Vaiss shot out another two swords, the four swords hit each other and turned into golden light.

"Sister Lan, your soul skill is really annoying."

"Second soul skill, Golden Leg! Third soul skill, Guillotine Drop Kick!" x2

Vaiss complained, he crossed his hand above his head and blocked a drop kick coming from his side and the aegis defend the kick from behind. Xian Yan and Xian San escaped the moment their attack failed. The subsequent vines' attack made Vaiss miss the timing to counterattack.

Five golden swords shot out from Myriad Aegis and cut the incoming vines, two light chakrams hovered on Vaiss's palms. Unlike before, the current chakram saw more solid and bigger, and it spun fast.

"Try this, my new skill, Scatter Chakrams!"

The two chakrams were thrown and suddenly each one split into five chakrams. The ten chakrams flew randomly and cut many vines on the way.

Xian Yan and Xian San dodged the chakrams. Dexter calmly stood behind Yu Lan.

"First soul skill, Aurora Wall. Fourth soul skill, Aurora Bulwark."

A new colorful wall appeared and then it became thicker and the shape changed to V-shape. The chakrams hit the bulwark but were deflected to the side.

After the chakrams attack ended, thick dust rose and obscured the battlefield. Vaiss was not bothered by the dust, he didn't use sight to locate enemy. Vaiss looked to his right and grinned.

"Sneak attack is unbecoming of you, Senet."

"First soul skill, Spiral Thrust."

Myriad Aegis moved and a shadow jumped out of the dust. Senet thrust his rapier, which was clad in a swirl of wind.

The rapier struck Myriad Aegis but the aegis stood still, the wind on the rapier tried to blow it off but was useless.

"Hey, now I can't move you with my first soul skill anymore. You're growing too fast, young master."

Senet said that but there was a satisfied smile on his face.

"I can have my strength now, all of it thanks to all the instructor nurturing."

Vaiss smiled back, he was not lying. All the sparring pushed him to his limit many times and became the nutrients for his growth.

With Vaiss's words, Senet smiled even more. 

"Then, this Senet will go all out in this last sparring. Second soul skill, Tailwind. Fourth soul skill, Wind Burst."

Tailwind increased Senet movement speed by 40%, Wind Burst added 30% attack speed and 30% soul skill damage increase.

"Then I will go all out too!"

Vaiss covered his body in blazing sun energy, increasing his already high defense and strength.

The two moved so fast, they turned into shadows and clashed rapidly in the air.

Dexter and the others just watch below, they could barely see the two moving, much less join the fight.

They didn't expect that Vaiss would come this far in just a year, a level 43 Spirit Ancestor was fighting a level 67 Spirit Emperor evenly. This was unprecedented.

Vaiss' arms glowed bright and Senet's rapier also glowed brightly.

"White Break!"

"Sixth soul skill, Tornado Thrust!"

Vaiss formed an L with his arm, a white beam shot out from Vaiss's vertical right hand. Senet thrust his rapier and a green tornado shot out from it.

The white beam and green tornado hit and were pushing each other.

"Aaaah!"

Finally, after a few minutes of stalemate, the white beam and the green tornado exploded, creating a bright light and tremendous explosion.

After the explosion, Vaiss was still floating, the Myriad Aegis in front of him as the center of a light screen, defending Vaiss from the explosion.

Senet was different, his cloth was destroyed and he suffered light injuries.

Vaiss undid his possession and grinned as he dropped to the ground. Senet shook his head with a smile.

"I lost."

There was no loss on his face, only pride. He was pleased that Vaiss, his student, had surpassed him.

The other also came, Mira first ran to Senet.

Senet's face was solemn, it was the first time Vaiss saw it. According to Bibi Dong's nature, he had a few ideas as to what the trial would be.

Senet smiled again. When Vaiss disappeared toward the tent, Senet and the others looked at each other.

"Senet, did the pope really choose this trial? Isn't it too early for Vaiss?"

Mira spoke with a worried tone, she thought the trial was too much for Vaiss.

"Mira, the pope has ordered. We can only obey. And I believe the young master can pass the test."

Senet said with a grave tone. 

The final test given by Bibi Dong was to let Vaiss exterminate a group of evil spirit masters. They were criminals that managed to hide from Spirit Hall and were just found recently. The strongest of them was a Spirit Emperor level 62 that just recently broke through.

Bibi Dong believed that a strong one cannot be raised in a greenhouse, they needed to face the storm and blood. Of course, Bibi Dong chose this test because she was confident that Vaiss could pass. She would give a hard trial but not suicidal.

"Yan, San, have you investigated their whereabouts and numbers?"

"Don't worry, we have been following them closely, they are currently hiding in an abandoned village in the mountains. 

And there were four of them, the strongest level 62, name Zhang Han, the other three were level 58, Name Karl, level 56, Name Hans, and level 53, Luo Tao."

The night passed and morning came.
