5 Nuoding Academy

Nuoding Academy was located to the west of Nuoding City.

Old Ming, who had to travel to this city often to report various things to the Spirit Hall, swiftly brought Ying to the academy.

The Nuoding Academy, though just a junior academy in a small city, was protected by two big gates. From this, one could see the importance that people attached to the soul master profession.

Ying also gradually became serious upon seeing the huge academy, but that seriousness quickly changed when he spotted something.

"Are there still people in small villages who have soul power? You are not a faker, right?" It was a guard who was speaking to a kid and an old man.

Ying's attention was attracted, not due to the accusation, but to the kid who was being accused.

"So, this is Tang San?" Ying narrowed his eyes, glaring at the 'protagonist' who seemed to be in trouble.

But Ying had no intention of intervening currently; rather, he watched the following progression with a hint of gossip. As someone from an era with constant entertainment, it was rare for him to find such a source of entertainment in this land.

Probably because Old Ming noticed Ying's attention, he spoke, "Xiao Ying, are you surprised why the guard seemed to be so arrogant when facing a prospective spirit master?"

Ying knew the reason, of course, but it did not hurt to humor his grandpa, so he nodded.

"This is human nature. When an ordinary person who is usually looked down upon spots someone in an even lower position than him, they can't help but vent. Xiao Ying, you must learn from this and never behave like that." Old Ming was indeed wise; he took this opportunity to teach the 'innocent' child before him.

"I understand, Grandpa." Ying nodded.

He would obviously refrain from doing such a brainless act. Not only would it make more enemies, it would also destroy his reputation. Moreover, in this extraordinary world where even the humblest can change their destiny with enough luck, Ying had no intention of ever looking down upon anyone.

Who knows, the kid he disrespected now might suddenly start to spout stuff like "Don't bully the young and poor" and unlock some god-level talent. Yup, being polite is still the way to go since it costs him nothing but lip service.

While Old Ming was 'teaching' Ying, the situation on the other side had already escalated exponentially.

"Everyone, come and see, Blue Silver grass also possesses soul power, and it even says the highest level of innate soul power. Is this not a fraud?" The guard shouted so hard that some of his saliva flew off. Gross.

Ying could see a dangerous glint in Tang San's eyes.

Tang San raised his hand and quickly subdued the guard with extreme proficiency. He kicked the guard with his short legs, making the guard stumble and fall down.

Anger.

The guard felt humiliated like never before; a kid whose balls had not even dropped managed to subdue him. He raised his head in anger.

Seeing this, Tang San raised his left arm again, his sleeve seemed to contain something flashing in the sunlight as he aimed it at the guard's neck.

Ying, who was watching this, was stunned.

"Bro really got no chill." Ying couldn't help but mumble inwardly, seeing that Tang San even brought out his hidden weapons. "But this is a very bad move."

Ying knew that Tang San came from a 'Jianghu' or a martial art-centered world, where one's honor was highly valued, but this was a bit too much. After all, this was a city, and killing people in broad daylight, especially a guard, was quite overboard. The Spirit Hall enforcement was not a joke, okay?

Not only would Tang San himself be prosecuted, but not even his village would be safe, especially old Jack who was with him.

Moreover, wasn't Tang San from a sect of assassins? Why is he showing hostility so actively?

Wait...there was also another type of assassin.

"As long as I kill everyone, no one will know that I am an assassin. Was Tang San also like this in the original book?" Ying pondered calmly. He didn't have any initiative to intervene because he knew someone else would.

Just as he suspected, as the situation reached a critical point, a hoarse voice suddenly called out.

"Okay, stop it." It was a man who looked about forty or fifty years old, with his hands behind his back.

It was the future 'master' of Tang San, Yu Xiaogang.

"Xiao Ying, if you have nothing to do, you can ask that man for some martial arts knowledge. Besides that, don't believe anything else," Old Ming spoke, seeing that Ying was focusing on the appearance of the master.

Ying was slightly surprised by this. It seems that this guy's reputation was lower than he expected.

Ying noted that mentally, his thoughts turned, but he didn't move. Eventually, everything was resolved, just like in the original novel.

And seeing that the farce was over, Old Ming took Ying inside the Nuoding Academy.
