Awakening

"You don't have a spirit."

That's the sentence that shattered Kuang Mu's life.

Kuang Mu was the prodigy of the village. He learn how to talk and read before the other kids could even crawl. He could even memorize anything as soon as he read it.

Maybe that's the reason the village reacted so badly.

It's how they said: "The bigger the expectations the bigger the disappointment".

That day when the soul master came do the village to awaken their martial souls, everyone was expecting him to awaken a great spirit and become a soul master.

The big expectations was probably because of the near village that always brag about how a Soul Saint was born there. So when Mu disappointed them, he ended up becoming the most hated of the village.

Mu doesn't have parents and was always created by everyone of the village. One aunt would give him milk, one uncle would give him clothes, the elder would let him sleep in his house...

After the awakening nobody started treating him bad, but it wasn't the same as before. He wasn't more welcomed, he felt. And since his awakening he was feeling more and more affected by his emotions, the biggest one being the hate.

He hated the soul master for saying he has no spirit, he hated the villagers for treating him differently than before and he even started to hate his parents for abandoning him, even though he never even thoguht about them before.

So one week after the awakening Kuang Mu decided to change.When he awoke, he had a lot of energy, he didn't know how much since the soul master didn't bother to measure, but according with the books he read he seemed very similar to the level 10 and it had grown even more since then. So he decided getting a soul ring. He was thinking that if he could get a soul ring then he would have a spirit.

Luckily for him, he had a emblem he got from his parents. With it was a letter that said that it should help him get the rings he would need. After looking through many books he learned that this emblem allows him to enter the forest to hunt spirit beasts.

Then Mu went to the forest that is near Nuoding City, that was nearby. He didn't have the least idea of what beast he needed since he didn't have a spirit. While he was looking for a beast he saw a big snake attack a small beast that looked like a bear cub.

"Datura Snake!"

Kuang Mu freeze thinking the snake was going to attack him next, but it doesn't seems to have found him, instead it seemed to have found another prey, supposedly more tasty since it decided to let the bear cub live and went after it.

"Lucky!" Kuang Mu thought.

He decided to kill the bear cub and try to absorb the soul ring. Kuang Mu had read some books so he knew how to absorb a spirit ring, and he was almost certain that his spirit power was at the right level.

"Sorry little one..."

The bear cub, or Four-Colored Elemental Bear, as he was called, was still knocked out because of the Datura Snake, so Mu hold the hunting knife that he brought and stab the bear in the eye while closing his own eyes. When he open then again a ring was forming above the bear.

Kuang Mu sat in the lotus position and tried absorving the ring using the method he learned from the book.

"It's dead."

While Kuang Mu was absorbing his first ring, in a place nearby, a young man had just killed the Datura Snake and started absorbing it's ring too. But unlike that young man, Mu wasn't having such a easy time with the ring.

Though Kuang Mu was very intelligent and read a lot of books, he still didn't know a lot of beast and how to calculate their age. So even though he knew that the Datura Snake wasn't too old for him to absorb, he didn't know how old was the bear. He thought that since the snake defeat him so easily the bear was probably just a ten-year beast.

Kuang Mu wasn't wrong in that he could absorb the snake - though he thought it was a lot weaker than it really was -, but he didn't knew the bear. The Four-Colored Elemental Bear is known to be one of the weakest beast. So much that any beast on the same age group can defeat it. The prove of this is exactly the one that Mu is absorbing. It was actually a 550-year bear.

So now Kuang Mu is passing for the problem of absorbing a ring of a higher level than he should. It was just after a while that Mu was able to absorb the ring, and by that time he had already passed out, exhausted and even burning from overworking. It was at this state that the boy that just absorbed the Datura Snake ring and his master passed by and saw him.

"Master, is him ok?" asked the boy after seeing his master approach the boy.

"He is going to be fine. It seems like he tired himself out. He is burning with fever, so we should get him back to the academy." answered the master.

Then the boy lift Kuang Mu and started walking behind his master in the way back to the academy.
