Douluo Dalu: Sword Legacy

See how a boy travels around the Douluo Continent, aspiring to the top while revealing the secrets inside. ------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a sequel of my other novel Douluo Dalu: 9 Treasure Sword. There's no need to have read the other but it is recommendable. This fanfic will be about Douluo Dalu 3: The Legend of the Dragon King. Like always, I don't know anything from the douluo dalu original novek as its rights are to the author, Tang Jia San Shao.

Greenground City was a medium-sized City at the north-west of the Sun-Moon Federation, at 100 kilometers from the sea, and near the previous known land of the Sun and Moon Continent before it joined with the Douluo Continent. It was a city with nothing really special to it, most of its industry was focused on the field works, making it be surrounded by green vegetable fields. Being one of the most important suppliers of vegetables in the western regions.

In the outer part of the city, a pure white building stood with a distinctive symbol of twelve golden wings. This was the city orphanage where children without parents were taken care of. And like most orphanages over the continent, it was run by the Dawn Church.

Inside a wide room with some desk that was usually used as a study room, a young woman wearing a full white uniform was surrounded by little children, most of them less than 6 years old. She had blond hair covered by a white veil, with an average face. A warm smiled was over her face as she was reading a book in her hands to the children.

"...The Angel Goddess spread her twelve golden wings, dissipating all the darkness of the world, light coming again. It was the start of a new Dawn, an era of peace." The woman finished telling, receiving the smiles and claps from the children around her.

One four years old kid was especially excited. With shining black hair, bright golden eyes that easily showed his emotions, and a very cute face that made people want to pinch his cheeks, with a bright smile that could warm the coldest of the hearts, he was called Qian Xueqin.

Like any other children of the orphanage, he didn't have parents or guardians to take care of him. In his case, his past was completely unknown as he arrived just as a newborn by the local police. He was found abandoned outside at the fields with nothing more than a blanket where his name, Xueqin, was embroidered. As with all the orphans without a surname, he took the surname of Qian.

Xueqin was always very excited when they read the story of the Dawn Church foundation. How the valiant Angel Goddess with the help of her lover fought against the evil gods that winked the world in darkness, winning them and stopping any fight. The angel finally finishing destroying the evil Spirit Hall who wanted to slave the world, creating the Dawn Church that focused on peace and improving the life of commoners.

For Xueqin this was his most favorite story, wanting to read it again and again, even dreaming to fight against devil like the Angel Goddess.

"Qiqi, let's go" A little bigger girl, around 5 or 6 years old, was pushing Xueqin from the sit where he stood.

Xiaoqin finally stopped daydreaming and looked at his surrounding, finding that everyone was almost out, only he and the little girl being there.

"Sorry, Chichi" Xueqin said with an apologetic face and a shy face with a tint of red.

The little was called Qian Chi. She had short red hair and a cute face if it weren't for her eyes that were an intense violet color and were incredibly sharp, never imagining it to find them over a little girl.

Like Xiaoqin, she was also an orphan without any surname. In her case, she was left at the orphanage's door just as she was born. The only thing with her was a golden pendant in the form of a moon that she carries always around her neck as a lucky charm.

"You do always to the same, Qinqin" Chi complained "You should stop daydreaming. Let's go, it's time for dinner."

Xueqin blushed before nodding "Let's go! It's a race" He jumped from his seat, running towards the dining room while the little girl sighed and followed him also running.

"Don't run across the hallways" One white-uniformed man with a two pair of wings embroidery admonished them as they crossed him running.

"We're late, sir Qi!" they giggled, running even faster.

Having passed the children, the man sighed with a small smile "Always the same with that kids."

Arriving at the dining room, over 50 children were already sat down, silencing eating their food. Xueqin and Chi grabbed each a tray and approached the old woman that was serving the food.

The old woman looked at Xueqin with a smile giving him some vegetable soap and a piece of meat. However, when her sight fell over Chi, she made a grumpy face, even growling a little. She only gave her a little of salad, far less than to Xueqin.

"Big sister, big sister!" Xueqin smiled brightly at the old woman "I am very hungry, can I have a little more?" He asked blinking his eyes cutely swinging his long eyelashes.

Once she looked at his face, she had already lost. She smiled at the radiant child, giving him another piece of meat. It wasn't possible to negate anything to that child, he was simply too cute to resist.

"Thanks, big sister!" Xueqin said with a smile returning going to his seat with Chi.

"If only the poor child didn't go with that demon" Whispered for herself the old woman. "At least tomorrow, she would leave."

Once they were sat, Xueqin gave to Chi one of his meat pieces. It was always like this. Everyone loved Xueqin, even with a lot of other children, everyone pampered him. However, when it came to Chi, the effect was the contrary. Except for the head of the orphanage, priest Qi, everyone else seemed to hate her.

One time, Xueqin tried to persuade them to give more food to Chi, but the result was that both didn't eat that day for like they said being ungrateful. Since that day, this was their modus operandi, Xueqin trying to get more food and sharing it with Chi.

Chi was at first against it as she would put Xueqin in a problem, but Xueqin kept his insistence, finally forcing her to accept.

Xueqin was the kind of kid that was friend with anyone, but the one that he liked the most was Chi. Chi was forced to be alone, being pushed away by adults and children alike, Xueqin her only friend. Each other were always together, considering each other as siblings, being extremely close.

After dinner, it was time to go to sleep, all the children above 3 years sleeping in the same room. Each one going to sleep in their own bed.

That night, Chi sensed something in her bed "Qinqi-!" She put her hands over her mouth to stop the shouts, not wanting to alert anyone. Xueqin had left his bed, getting into Chi's bed.

"Chichi, I don't want you to leave me" Xueqin said with teary big golden eyes.

Chi hugged tightly as her little brother in all except blood "We might be separated, but I will make sure to write over, always visiting you when I can" She tried to cheer Xueqin.

Tomorrow it was Chi's 6th birthday. The 6th birthday was the most important day in the life of any children, the day that their future could be decided. It was the day that they awakened their spirit. Depending on the spirit, their future would be chosen, marking their talent.

If they were able to gather spirit power and cultivate when they awakened, they could even become spirit masters, the considered noblest profession over all the world. Their future would be limitless.

For orphans, it was even more important. Once they become 6 years and awakened their spirit, they would leave their initial orphanage, going to a secondary and more specialized orphanage according to their spirit, having the option to even be adopted by families.

Years ago, it was decided by the orphanages to prohibit adoption before the 6 years old because they caused a lot of psychological traumas to the abandoned children by the parents that didn't like their 'son's' spirit, causing a lot of returns. Some despicable people even played the lottery of the spirit master with the children, trying it over and over in different orphanages trying to find someone that awakened a spirit with soul power.

It was a fact that tomorrow Chi and Xueqin would separate. If Chi had soul power, she would be sent to a Primary Spirit Master Academy, if not she would be sent to another orphanage that would be difficult to make it coincide with the same that Xueqin would go when he turns 6 years old.

"I don't want it" Xueqin said sadly.

Chi started patting Xueqin, caressing his silky black hair "In the future when we are grown up. I will find a job and then both we can live together again."

"It's a promise?" Xueqin sniffed, cleaning his tears a little with some hope.

"It's a promise" Chi smiled "I will make sure that we are together, nothing will separate us, siblings. We will always be in contact."

"Yes" Xiaoqin smiled "It's a promise" He quickly fell asleep over Chi's arms after being calmer.

Chi hugged him tightly, falling asleep not much later.

The next day, Xueqin woke up finding over an empty bed, no trace of Chi. Turning to the side, he looked at the windows to see the first lightrays coming from the windows "Chichi should have woken me before leaving" He puffed his cheeks.

The spirit awakening ceremony was usually done at dawn in memory of the Angel Goddess. Chi had woken and slipped away, not wanting to wake up Xueqin.

After waking up and have his breakfast, Chi finally came again. She kicked the ground and faster than what Xueqin had never seen her before, she arrived next to him, hugging him tightly with a big smile in her face.

"I have soul power! I will become a spirit master!" She celebrated hugging Xueqin tightly.

"Stop!" He struggled to break free as Chi's hug was too tight, she having gained a sudden new strength.

"Sorry!" Chi released Xueqin with a red face as her hair. Having no control of her new strength.

"Congratulations, Chichi!" Xueqin said very happily for Chi, cheering her.

"Thanks" Chi smiled brightly "I will quickly become a spirit master, obtaining a lot of money. With the money, I will take you out of the orphanage and we will live together" She said excitedly, having a very good opportunity to make her dream come true. Going to a Spirit Academy instead of a new orphanage was surely a faster way to reach independence.

"Yeah!" Xueqin smiled thinking about living always with his big sister Chi. "Chichi, what is your spirit? It's cool?!" asked excitedly.

"Very cool and strong! But..." said Chi with a mischievous smile "I won't tell you."

"Why?" Xueqin rambled "It's unfair."

"Of course it's unfair," Chi said with an intelligent smile "You should wait for your spirit. Once you know yours, I will tell mine. Xueqin looked at her pouting.

"It's time" Priest Qi came towards the kids, with a little bag with some robes, the only belongings of Chi with the exception of her pendant. "We should go now, Chi."

Chi hugged tightly at Xueqin, both of them with teary eyes "I will come for your 6th birthday, I promise it. Wait for me!"

"I will wait!" Xueqin cried with tears "It's a promise!"

Both of them broke the hug, Chi following priest Qi towards a soul car that would bring her to Greenground Primary Soul Academy.

Xueqin left the orphanage waving every moment his hands saying goodbye to Chi "Don't forget me!" until the car disappeared over the horizon.

A little of the introduction of the world and mc. I have something for chi, but I don't know if I want to make her a romantic interest or simply a big sis character.

Next chapter would be Xueqin awakening ceremony.
