13 Chapter 13 - Just a friend

I sat on the bench, annoyed at the thought of having to make Wang Dong more docile. As the previous ruler of the Demon Realm, I used to give mundane tasks to my subordinates like ordering an army to invade Gaia to eradicate a key place in the Empire, and even kidnap important officials to weaken their forces.

Alas, I was given the trivial task of managing a pampered brat, and this irritated me. I swear I'll make that Zhou Yi regret pissing me off.

Once I've attained my fourth ring. I'll go storm in and make her kneel before me even Fan Yu wouldn't be able to stop me from crucifying her to a cross.

As devious thoughts of vengeance continued to pile in, I leaned on the bench and laughed. It was childish to be thinking of meager vengeance even for me.

'It's an interesting world.'

I had thought that experiencing this new life would be boring, but, I never thought that it would be fun even when it was peaceful. 

My previous life as the Demon King was full of wars, and I enjoyed the bloodshed and fighting so much that I lost my humanity.

But, I was curious, what was this humanity that I was talking about?

Emotions? Memories? 

I still had doubts about who I truly was.

Well, aside from the thought of philosophizing my true self. I was still clueless as to how I got into this world except for the fact that the Goddess had something to do with this.

I looked around the Shrek Plaza, and not surprisingly, there weren't a lot of people. A few students from other classes were in the cafe, probably because they were taking their break session.

Since classes were starting, there weren't many people roaming around the Shrek Plaza, but I suddenly heard the voice of a girl, it was oddly familiar.

"Brother Yuhao! It's me!"

When I turned my head in the direction of a girl wearing a maid outfit, her black hair, and red phoenix eyes along with the peaceful scenery was a great synergy for the beholder.

"Oh, Xiao Ya." I waved my hand.

Well, this was a lot better than seeing hairless ogres, hairy wolves, flying lizards, and multiple-eyed creatures. I wondered why I hadn't thought of bringing maid humans into my palace.

'No, it isn't because I didn't bother to do it. It's just that all of the human slaves would commit suicide or were too fragile, and would end up dying from being exposed to the corruption energy.'

But, anyway, aside from that gruesome memory, I didn't expect to find the Blue Silver Saintess in this place, as Xiao Ya leaned over and said. 

"What's up? Isn't your class starting?"

The thought of Tang Wutong annoyed me again. She was a troublesome girl.

"Ha..."

I closed my eyes and sighed, Xiao Ya looked at me with surprise.

"What's wrong? I never thought the invincible Yuhao would be having trouble on his first day?"

"It's nothing. I don't know how I should deal with a task given by the freshmen teacher." I started explaining the situation, and Xiao Ya sat next to me.

"Wah. Teacher Zhou Yi is devilish."

"It seems I am not the only one who thinks that way."

"Hehehe. I think you've met your match, Yuhao."

"..."

Seriously, I met my match? How am I devilish in comparison to her? Somehow, at this point, I was forgetting my title.

"Anyways, it's best that you talk to him before you start planning, Yuhao. You tend to think a lot, just like Bei Bei."

"Isn't it better to plan ahead of time?"

Xiao Ya tilted her head and then shook her head with a playful smile.

"No, no! You should go ahead and beat him up! Why is there a need to plan?"

"..."

Wasn't this too straightforward?

I thought about it, and it kind of made sense since Wang Dong was weaker than me. 

Why was I trying so hard to teach a kid? When it is easier to suppress her with force? I was the Demon King. Why did I need to think so much? It was perhaps because of my knowledge about the god beings like Tang San, and the Divine Realm. 

I thought I needed to be more secretive, but it seemed that it backfired.

"Thank you, Xiao Ya. I found my answer." I grinned, and Xiao Ya replied.

"Now, I am actually starting to feel bad for that Wang Dong."

"Also, why are you wearing a maid outfit?" 

Although I already knew the answer, I wanted to proceed with the plan for Xiao Ya's Vengeance Quest. It was similar to a gamer going through an NPC quest line for the Dark Spirit Master story plot.

"Huh? This? I wear this for my part-time job. I needed to work, so I could support the Tang Sect." She smiled bitterly.

I glanced at her slightly regretful and mournful eyes, I then tapped her shoulder to get her attention.

"I am still new, can you introduce me to the place you are working at?"

"Okay! I'll bring you to the shop. You'll like it there."

Her sad expression quickly shifted to a happy one, as if she had forgotten the question I had asked.

I sat near the window of the restaurant while waiting for the menu.

"Here you go."

I took the menu from her hand and took a look at the options.

I didn't know the averages of the copper soul coins, but looking at the menu with prices ranging from copper to silver soul coins, and my apparent surroundings. It seemed that the students from the nobility usually frequented this restaurant.

So, I decided to just order what I wanted. I was rich anyway. In terms of wealth, no one in this world could rival me.

I smiled and started ordering that would be equal to almost a gold soul coin even Xiao Ya was shocked at the reckless spending.

"Hey, Brother Yuhao! A bit of a warning here, I think you should save your money?"

"Hmph. Do you expect someone as great as me to count his spending? Xiao Ya, Xiao Ya. That's disrespectful."

I frowned as I crossed my legs and arms with dissatisfaction.

"Huh.... s-sorry."

"It's fine as long as you know your mistake."

I handed her a shiny gold card, and Xiao Ya's eyes almost popped out. She looked at me and the card with a look of disbelief.

The gold card was given to me as an additional sub-account for normal expenses. As for the red card, I kept it in my spatial ring, so I don't lose it.

It reminded me a lot of my previous life in the modern world where I kept forgetting where I placed my valuables, which caused me to become more anxious about losing important things. 

Plus, the red card was important for my mastermind plan. Without it, most of my plans would go awry.

"A gold card from the Treasure Gathering Pavilion?"

Xiao Ya's mouth was watering as she stared at the card.

"Brother Yuhao, are you a VIP member of the Treasure Gathering Pavilion?"

VIP? So a gold card meant that I was a VIP? Not bad. I'll reward that fatty with a golden necklace.

"That's right."

I supported my chin with my arm and smiled at her. When Xiao Ya nodded with her mouth still agape, she reached the counter. The owner looked shocked and quickly went to the kitchen.

Thankfully, the other customers didn't seem to react much since they were from the nobility as well, they were glancing at me as if they couldn't believe their eyes. 

Some female senior students even glanced at me with longing hot eyes. They've been staring at me ever since I entered the restaurant, but I ignored them. 

When my strawberry milkshake was placed on the table, I brought the straw to my mouth and drank it, without any slurping sounds. It was silent and elegant.

'This is royalty?'

Xiao Ya's thoughts of royalty from the fairy tale book seemed to have been underestimated since she was seeing a person with a perfect example of complete control over his body that was too natural.

When Xiao Ya completed putting all of the desserts on the table. I ushered to Xiao Ya and said.

"Xiao Ya, how about you join me for dessert? I can't finish all of it."

"H-huh? Are you sure?"

Surprisingly, I've already ordered a lot of the desserts on the table, it was my way of thanking Xiao Ya for helping me a few moments ago. 

Xiao Ya was glancing at the owner, and I already knew her worries before she said anything. I called the owner over, and she complied with a nervous look.

I whispered to her, as I handed her a tip. She nodded and called Xiao Ya.

"Xiao Ya, you can take a break until the Young Lord has finished his dessert time."

She smiled at Xiao Ya, as she went to the counter.

"It's my treat. You helped me a while ago. And, wouldn't it be rude to refuse my good intentions?"

"Ah... fine, you win." She sat in front of me with a slightly embarrassed look. Xiao Ya was still a new friend, perhaps my attitude was putting stress on her, so I calmly drank the tea while closing my eyes to enjoy the scent.

"The desserts won't taste good if you wait for long," I muttered while slicing the tall white cake and putting it on my fork. I then placed it in my mouth, and ate it, without losing momentum.

'It's like he became a different person when he is in the restaurant. No, it's like Yuhao's actions are becoming more natural as time goes on.' 

She felt that Yuhao was as deep as an ocean. He was a mysterious person with a lot of secrets, and he also had things she couldn't understand from his actions and powers.

'For a child, who is younger than me to be this mature. What did he go through?'

Xiao Ya was glancing at me with a stupefied look at how nonchalant I was with the whole situation. I was a bit annoyed, so I sliced the cake and brought it close to Xiao Ya's mouth.

"Here."

Xiao Ya blushed and opened her mouth.

'An indirect kiss?!'

"Yuhao, I can't. I have a boyfriend- Mmm!"

I placed the cake into her mouth, and she paused for a moment before chomping on the sliced cake with a look of ecstasy.

"So, what nonsense were you going to say?"

"Hehehe- It's nothing."

I shook my head and continued to eat my dessert while Xiao Ya was devouring the dessert without reserve.
