"...So that's the situation," Bei Bei muttered, a frown on his face after hearing the entire situation from his junior brother. Honestly, this is not what he had expected; Tang Ya had left the academy, disbanded Tang Sect, joined under Huo Yuhao's group called the Akatsuki, oh and that both of them have gotten stronger than he is!
How did Huo Yuhao, a lost orphan that they just met in the Great Star Dou Forest by chance, achieved all of... this! In the spand of a few months!?
Even with his mentality, Bei Bei felt a great blow to his pride.
Shaking his head, Bei Bei turned to the direction where Huo Yuhao was and moved his lips to say: "How is she? Can we talk?" he did this because Huo Yuhao's soul skill only works as a one-way communication; only Huo Yuhao could communicate with others mentally.
Bei Bei looked extremely worried and concerned, if he wanted to, he would've ran straight towards Tang Ya, hugging her tight and never letting go. But he knew that she wasn't in the right mood right now to see him, she was probably still processing her emotions of getting her revenge. He had to maintain his composure, he had to be strong for her. The thoughts of why she disbanded Tang Sect was momentarily put to the side.
Huo Yuhao glanced at Bei Bei, understanding the worry and concern in his eyes. He then turned towards a silent Tang Ya, who saw everything on the compound with the help of his Spiritual Detection, her face expressionless.
'I wonder what she's thinking about...'
He was confused on why Tang Ya wasn't asking him to take her to Bei Bei. Wasn't lovers supposed to be reunited after being separated for so long? But looking at Tang Ya's expression, he could tell that she was still processing her emotions and wasn't ready to see Bei Bei just yet.
He couldn't blame her, considering everything she had been through. If she were to appear before him right now, she would've broke down and–
"Yuhao." Tang Ya said, her voice calm.
"Yes, teacher Ya?"
"... There's so many things I want to say to Bei Bei," She clenched her fists, tears trickling down from her eyes. "I want to rush down there, hug him, and give him the deepest kiss that would make even the most experienced woman blush."
There was a moment of silence.
"Buuut?" Huo Yuhao said, raising an eyebrow.
Tang Ya let out a sigh. "But not when she's there with him."
Huo Yuhao blinked.
"Who?" He looked at her for a while for a further explanation, but she remained silent. Huo Yuhao let out a sigh and nodded.
'...Uh, senior brother. I don't know why, but teacher Ya is refusing to talk to you unless you tell her why you're with 'her'? Eh, someone called Zhang Lexuan?'
Bei Bei froze, perspiration dripping from his temples.
'...Senior brother?'
"...A relative of mine couldn't stop worrying about me so he asked them to be my guide and bodyguard, mostly the latter really." He said, trying to look calm.
'Huh, so I was right!'
"Eh? About what, junior brother?"
'Oh nothing much.' Back when Bei Bei and Tang Ya brought him into Shrek Academy, he noticed Bei Bei having a strange look in his eyes when he looked at Sea God's Island; awe, longing and nostalgia. Plus, his soul engineering teacher Fan Yu had advised him to stay friendly with Bei Bei.
A relative that can request the aid of a inner courtyard student like Ma Xiaotao and someone at the level of a Soul Sage at such a young age, it could only mean a high a ranking elder in the academy.
'Interesting. I wonder if senior brother would join Akatsuki for the sake of Teacher Ya? With his potential and connection, the organization would flourish.' Huo Yuhao thought and remembered his friends back at the academy.
'I wonder how they're doing...'
Shaking his head, he turned towards Tang Ya. "Teacher Ya, senior brother said that they're his bodyguards."
"Hm..." Tang Ya hummed. She looked in deep thought for a while and let out a sigh. "Tell him to meet us at Wanmin Restaurant, he'll know where that is with... senior sister with him, in three days time at noon."
"Got it, teacher Ya. I'll pass on the message," Huo Yuhao replied, nodding. He understood that Tang Ya needed some time to process her emotions and was not ready to see Bei Bei just yet.
Tang Ya wiped away her tears and tried to compose herself. "Thank you, Yuhao. And thank you for everything you've done for me."
Huo Yuhao smiled gently. "You're like family to me, teacher Ya. I'll always be here for you."
They shared a brief moment of silence as Huo Yuhao passed along the message, Tang Ya nodded. "Let's go, Yuhao. We have a lot of catching up to do."
Huo Yuhao nodded, taking her in his arms, they both disappeared in a flash of silver light as he used Absolute Domain to avoid detection from both Zhang Lexuan and Ma Xiaotao.
Meanwhile, Bei Bei stood there in disappointment, processing the information he had just received. After a moment of collecting himself, he took a deep breath and turned towards Zhang Lexuan, who stood there with a calm expression, it seemed as if she knew what was happening.
"So, what's the plan?" She softly asked.
Bei Bei scratched his cheek. "Uh, I just got in contact with someone I know, he's the one whose currently helping Xiao Ya, and he said that we should meet in three days at some place called Wanmin Restaurant?"
Zhang Lexuan's eyes lit up in recognition, she nodded. "That place, huh. Very well, if you trust this person." She turned towards Ma Xiaotao, who was surveying the burning compound. "Xiaotao! Come here!"
"Hm? What's up? Did you find any clues as to what's going on?" She asked, landing before them.
Zhang Lexuan nodded. "Somewhat, but it's going to take a few days. For now, let's leave and find us a hotel to stay in."
Ma Xiaotao looked at Bei Bei, raised eyebrow. "What's up with you? We haven't found where your little girlfriend is and you're acting calm. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you don't care."
Bei Bei forced a smile, slight anger flashed across his eyes. "I assure you, senior sister Ma, I very much care. That clue we found? Tang Ya is fine but she wouldn't meet with until she recovers in a few days."
"Heeh, so she's just recovering huh..." Ma Xiaotao mumbled, glancing at Zhang Lexuan.
Bei Bei could only nervously chuckled.
Zhang Lexuan frowned, sensing something wrong, she turned to the side.
"...We need to go. Other people are coming here; mostly civilians but I sensed one of them being a Titled Douluo. They're most likely someone from a big organization or worse, the army. If we don't want to get caught in a political mess, I advise that we go now!"
Bei Bei and Ma Xiaotao nodded with serious expressions.
With that, the three of them left the burning compound hurriedly under the night sky like thieves.
Unbeknownst to them all, a pair of golden eyes from the night sky closed, an ancient sigh escaping their lips. The sky momentarily rumbled with thunder.
"Unfortunately for you brother, one of your proudest legacies has inevitably fallen through the greed of others. What a pity." He once again let out a sigh, one that carried a deep sadness and regret.
"I wonder, if you weren't chained by the rules of heaven and fighting against a cosmic threat that would engulfed the universe, would you have done something to change your mortal ties? Or are you that confident of your descendants that they would bring back the glory of your legacy? Haa... I suppose, this generation belongs to them. New legends and stories would be unfold, one without the ties of past no more."
The figure turned away, disappearing into the darkness as the storm above intensified.
