6 Chapter 6

Chapter 6 — Sword Dojo (2)

Ning Chen and Yu Liena left the woods after walking for a few minutes and started climbing the large mountain together.

The two eventually started talking with each other and their topic was mainly about the Sword Dojo.

Ning Chen learned that there were about ten spirit master's attending the Sword Dojo. They were all learning under the master of the dojo.

He got to know that the master of the dojo was very strict and serious. Especially when it came to teaching about swords.

He then asked Yu Liena why she knew so much about the Sword Dojo. She quickly answered and said that she was the adopted daughter of the master.

Although she didn't possessed any spirit power, her father trained her at using the sword.

Ning Chen was astonished after hearing this and felt pity that such a strong-willed girl like Yu Liena didn't awakened any spirit power.

All of the humans in this world can awaken their spirit essence, but without having spirit power they couldn't walk down the path of spirit master.

Yu Liena noticed Ning Chen feeling pity towards her and quickly became mad.

"I don't need your unnecessary pity. Even though I'm born without a spirit power, I'm strong enough to be not a frail flower that always need protection."

Ning Chen apologized and was silently impressed by Yu Liena's heart which was like a mighty tree. She was definitely not like the other normal girls.

She possessed a heart far greater than anyone else in this world.

The two soon reached the peak of the mountain, Ning Chen saw a large wooden building and could heard many shouts containing a very fierce spirit.

He was sure this building was the Sword Dojo itself.

"I will now return back home. I'm sure you can handle yourself," Yu Liena said after completing her task.

"Thank you for guiding me," Ning Chen said gratefully and bid his farewell.

Yu Liena left him and soon went down the mountain. He watched her delicate yet strong figure fading and felt slightly empty.

Ning Chen wondered if they would be able to meet again.

He took a deep breath and walked toward the Sword Dojo with his eyes gradually turning sharp like a sword.

Ning Chen entered the dojo and saw ten people training inside. They were all obviously older looking than him.

However, they all came into a halt and looked toward Ning Chen's direction.

A muscular old man wearing a rough grey training robe went toward Ning Chen.

"What do you want, young boy?" He asked in a stoic tone.

"Are you the master of this dojo?" Ning Chen asked.

"Yes, I'm Yu Qian, the master of this dojo," Yu Qian said.

Ning Chen was now certain this old man was Yu Liena's father.

"That makes things easier. I came here to join the Sword Dojo," Ning Chen quickly said his reason without beating around the bush.

"Join this dojo?" Yu Qian raised his eyebrows for a moment before continuing. "You must first prove your strength and potential in order to join."

"Okay," Ning Chen was very confident about his muscles and potential.

"Now, show me your spirit and also tell me your current age and spirit rank."

Ning Chen stretched his left hand out and quietly muttered, "Come, Kel'al."

A nine-colored light bloomed across his left hand as a longsword appeared in his grasp.

"My name is Ning Chen. I'm currently six years old and rank 9. My tool spirit is called Kel'al," Ning Chen shortly introduced himself.

Yu Qian and the others were quite shocked hearing Ning Chen's current age since he looked like an eighth years old.

They didn't doubt him since he looked sincere and there were also cases where some people looked older than their actual age

All of them were instead more interested at Ning Chen's sword and spirit rank. He was without a doubt a genius in terms of potential.

"You have proven your potential. We will now proceed to examine your strength. I will arrange you a spar with our youngest member," Yu Qian said with a light smile.

"Sure," Ning Chen felt excited at getting to spar for the first time.

But when he finally stood on the sparring square and saw his opponent, he couldn't helo but curse out.

"Damn, the youngest member is a Rank 19!?"

Infront of Ning Chen was a bald man about the age of 15. He was clearly taller than Ning Chen and was also revealing his own rank actively.

"It's fine even if you lose the fight. You just need to show your strength to the fullest," Yu Qian laughed seeing Ning Chen's reaction.

Ning Chen could only sigh weakly. This was impossible to win.

"Since this is just a friendly match, you guys will just compete using wooden sword and no spirit rings," Yu Qian explained while handing them a pair wooden swords.

The other reason for those restrictions was also to not make things too hard on Ning Chen.

Ning Chen held the wooden sword with both of his hands and stared at the bald man infront of him.

His eyes were calm like the water and an intimidating pressure was surrounding him.

"I'm Xie Chun. I hope we can have a nice spar," Xie Chun made a seal of confrontation.

"Likewise," Ning Chen imitated the guy's action.

"Let the sparring match begin!" Yu Qian announced loudly.

Xie Chun didn't attacked Ning Chen immediately. He just watched his every movement and held the wooden sword firmly.

Ning Chen didn't know why Xie Chun was not attacking and just felt his every muscle going very tense.

He decided to not think of any unnecessary thoughts and charged toward Xie Chun, the wooden floor repeatedly creaking under his steps.

A faint blue light covered his white skin and his already powerful physical strength was reinforced by his spirit power.

Ning Chen's speed skyrocketed quickly, shocking the ten people watching the battle.

Yu Qian frowned seeing Ning Chen's spirit power and physical body with his sharp eyes.

"His spirit power is far denser and potent than of a rank 10 when it clearly belonged to a rank 9. His body is also peculiarly strong like a spirit beast... I wonder why?"

Swoosh!

Ning Chen quickly arrived infront of Xie Chun, he released all the power he built up by slashing his sword vertically toward Xie Chun's bald head.

Xie Chun's eyes lit up, he quickly evaded the strike aimed at his head by stepping sideway to the left side of Ning Chen.

Swishh!

His sword quickly turned into a sharp arc that was aimed at Ning Chen's left arm.

Ning Chen was only able to narrowly dodge this lightning speed strike with his flexibility and in-born sharp reflex.

He quickly got away from Xie Chun and stared at him cautiously.

Xie Chun was quite surprised to see Ning Chen escaped that strike. Although he didn't reinforced his body with spirit power, his own physical strength should be more powerful than Ning Chen who was merely six years old, but it's seems like he underestimated Ning Chen.

"You're too hasty. In a fight, you must not blindly rush in. You must first assess your opponent and gather your fighting spirit," Xie Chun advised.

Ning Chen nodded, understanding what Xie Chun said.

The two stared each other without blinking and took small steps as they circled around each other.

The surrounding air became extremely tense, the only sounds that could be heard was the sound of breathing, the wind and the birds chirping.

This tense moment lasted for while and reached it's peak before suddenly, it all erupted in a single Instant.

Swoosh!

The faint sound of breathing, the rustling wind and the quiet chirping of the birds came into an abrupt halt and was instead replaced by the clear sound of two swords cutting through the wind.

Ning Chen felt his blood boiling intensely, his muscles working beyond their limit, his bones being almost pushed to their breaking point and his senses spreading to their very limits as he concentrated everything he had into his sword alone.

He felt his palm dripping with blood, his muscles and insides screaming in pain, but he didn't darn cared about it.

He simply grinned like a crazy bastard who was overflowing with fighting spirit.

Ning Chen wanted to win this spar because he hated losing. He wanted to overcome the impossible and make it possible.

Boom!!

The two wooden swords clashed, causing a thunderous clap and a violent gale to spread strongly everywhere.

Xie Chun was shocked to his core as he felt his hands trembling after receiving Ning Chen's attack which contained all of his power

A smile filled with battle intent also appeared on his face and he reinforced his body using his spirit power.

He chopped his sword toward Ning Chen again. This time, appearing more faster and powerful.

Ning Chen didn't back down and blocked it with his own sword, causing him to tremble viciously as his body cried in pain once again.

He didn't listened to his body's cry and just continued to swing his sword with all of his might.

Swoosh!

Thud!

The two keep exchanging blows one after another without showing any signs of stopping and instead started to grow more savage as Ning Chen's swordmanship was improving greatly while fighting.

Gasp....!

Gasp....!

Ning Chen panted heavily, sticky sweat drenched him completely. He felt very tired and his body was extremely heavy, as if he was carrying a boulder.

Meanwhile, Xie Chun still have some energy left on his body and was also drenched entirely in sweat.

Ning Chen's vision was slowly going hazy, and no strength was remaining on his body. He felt it was time to surrender, but to his surprise, Yu Qian beat him to it.

"That's enough!" The old man announced.

Xie Chun stopped after hearing that and didn't attack any further.

Ning Chen felt his very tense muscles going relaxed. He fell to the ground, the exhaustion finally taking over him.

"Ning Chen, you have done great. You're now officially a member of the Sword Dojo." Yu Qian said while smiling brightly as if he found an unpolished gem.

"Congratulations, junior brother," Xie Chun said while extending his hand toward Ning Chen.

Ning Chen could only weakly smile and fainted on the floor. He had overexerted himself too much this time.

The others who were spectating didn't laugh at Ning Chen for fainting and instead looked at him with admiration.

He was after all able to hold himself to Xie Chun who was already 15 years old and rank 19.

...

How was this battle scene? I'm still experimenting.
