1 Chapter 1: A normal life until...

November 2, 2024

A man standing on the front door of a convenience store wearing a regular guard uniform. 5'8ft tall have a blue eyes probably from American descent have an average face but have a somehow scary expression.

He is Christopher Klaus, a former soldier served in the National Army of the Country C.

Currently 28 years old and current job is guarding a convenience store. He somewhat chose this job for extra income and for passing time. Even though he still have a lot of money to spare since he retired from the army and still got his saved pension from the government.

Klaus watched the customers go in and out of the store and the cars passing endlessly on the road when he suddenly took a look on his watch and thought to himself

'I still got half an hour before my shift. '

he sighed and continued

' I should probably get another job. Even though the reason I applied for this job is because its close to my house. I am really bored watching these people come and go.'

Soon his shift is done and prepared to reach his house. Days passed and he still didn't change his job even though he really wants to and keep thinking about it everyday.

But one day he saw a group of 3 students watching some video. And immediately got interested in it. He thought to himself

'Ah, should I ask them? But they are gonna be just afraid if I try to talk to them.'

He sighed and continued

'Damn, why is it my face always stiff, back then in school I still have some friends don't I? Probably its started when I went to the military. AH, Whatever I'll just ask.'

He went to the students with a straight face. And when the students noticed him walking towards them, their body suddenly froze. The first male student probably around 17-18 years old with an asian oval face got a hold to himself and told his friends.

"Dude that scary bodyguard is walking towards us!"

"Should we run?"

replied by an another asian student. The two nod to each other when.

The 3rd student suddenly grip his two friends wrist and prevent them from running away and said

"He not bad though his face is scary but he's very kind you know, he always gives food to stray cats here. Maybe he will just greet us. So CALM DOWN!"

The two looked to each other with an embarrased face and nod. When a deep voice called out to them.

" Hello, can I ask a question? "

The third student Allan glanced at his two friends Jeffrey and Antonio and signaled to them " I got this ". The two exhaled quite deep and relaxed. Then Allan said

"Goodmorning Sir what question is it?"

" The thing is, I catched a glimpse of what your watching on your phone. May I ask what is it? "

"Ohh, the anime is called Fate Stay Night and it is very cool hehehe"

Klaus stood there and have a questioning look

"Sir, you probably dont know any anime films right? I can suggest good ones for you. What genre do you perhaps want to watch? Action, drama etc."

Klaus give it some thought and replied

"Hmm give me some action based more on fiction stories. By the way I'm Cristopher Klaus just Klaus is fine. "

"I'm Allan and those two there are my friends. On the right is Antonio while the one on the left is Jeffrey. Pleased excuse us for a minute Sir Klaus. "

The trio have a debate and after a few minutes they compeleted their list which is quite long and passed it to him excitedly.

Klaus got the list and scanned before he waved to the trio with a grateful face and left.

Getting into the car he glanced at the list and made a happy expression on his face and drove home.

He decided to quit his job after he watched a 13 episode anime and stayed home since then.

On the next few weeks he stayed at home binge watching animes with a contended expression on his face. And after a few weeks more he finished the anime on the list and started searching for more.

Two months passed. For a month he watched anime like a NEET and for the second month he bought multiple games and tried each one. His saved money was rapidly going down and that is where he started to controll his spending.

A year has passed and he played countless games and watched numerous anime while staying home. He rarely comes out and for one purpose, Buy BUY and BUY. But he noticed these days countless rumors are speading and will always be deleted almost immediately.

The videos peeked his interest and he tried to watched one of those videos and suddenly got more interested. The videos he previously watched are violent actions of civilians and riot in many parts of the world. Specifically, one of the videos showed a person is being dismembered by another person and immediately got shot in the chest. But it still kept on going until it changed target and approched the one who shot it. Gunfire continued until one of the bullet passed through its head. It lay on the floor with a thud and it never stand again on its pool of blood.

As he keep searching for similar videos he's finally convinced. He started to prepare himself for the worst. First he sold all of his collection of games, PS4, Computer and other gadgets except his mobile phone. Second, he started amassing supplies such as compact foods, dried meat, wheats, high-calorie foods and the most supply is water. He starts to barricade his house. He put an Iron gate on the front and when breached it there is a second line of defense, a choke point between the narrow walls. He put several surveillance camera around his house and bought sets of solar panel and install it in the roof.

As he was short on money he started making lones on several banks then he contacted his past colleagues to buy guns in legal or illegal transactions. At first, they are suspicious of him but he carefully explained himself to them and fortunately they agreed.

As he is listing various supplies. When the world stop running and suddenly a deep voiced sounded in the whole world.

A few second passed and a ring suddenly cut his thoughts and excitement. When he noticed and read the words floating on a screen infront of him. He grinned.
