Don't Underestimate A World Where Demons Hide

She wasn't my first love. She wasn't perfect, but she was easy. She was naive, and she'll believe anything you tell her. It was easy getting her to fall in love with me. I mean I'm handsome, rich, and successful. To be honest she never stood a chance. Now she belongs to me, and once your mines there is no going back.

Chapter 1 New Year's Day

January 1, 2018

My name is Caleb Martinez, and I was born and raised in California. I come from a rich family and I'm currently the CEO of 2 multimillion-dollar companies. Some say that I'm a spoiled brat but I can really give two fucks. When your 24, rich, and look as good as me the world is yours for the taken. I strongly believe that there is nothing that I can't have, and since this week is my birthday it's time to turn the fuck up. Ever since I turned 16 I would fly out to New York, a week before my birthday, and party my ass off. This year was no different, and right now I'm standing in the middle of times square waiting for the ball to drop. I look at my watch 30 more minutes before I finally turn 25. Since I had time to kill I decided to go get a couple of drinks from this nearby bar. Usually, I'm with my 2 best friends Aiden and Jackson but they are currently boo'd up with their girlfriends right now waiting for the ball to drop. Yes, you heard right out of all my friends I'm the only single one. These motherfucker even broke the tradition of no girlfriends, and now I'm third-wheeling ..... hold up matter of fact 1,2, 3, 4, 5. I'm freaking fifth wheeling on my own birthday trip, but I can't lie it still been fun. I thought bringing their girls along would kill the hold vibe but no these bitches know how to turn up. Okay, 25 more minutes I just walked into the bar I think that I'm going to watch the ball drop from here on the tv. I order 4 shots of vodka, paid, and down all 4 nonstop. After finishing I decided that the bar was too full, so I walked outside to watch the ball drop from the street. It was cold as hell though and this is why I couldn't live in New York. Just 5 more minutes and I decided to take out my phone to record everything. In the midst of recording, I spotted this beautiful red hair girl sitting on the sidewalk shaking. She had on no jacket, a short-sleeve shirt, black skinny legs with holes in them, and slippers. I watch people pass by her one by one, and nobody bothered to help her. I'm normally a very selfish person but I can't help but find something amusing about this. So, I made my way across the street, and by the looks of things, this girl looks like she's homeless. I walked up to her bent down and put my extra jacket around her. She flinched at my touch but didn't say anything, so I decided to sit next to her.

"Hey, my name Caleb you shouldn't be out here without a jacket you know", I kept looking at her waiting for a response. I just kept talking to her anyway eventually I started counting down the 10 seconds before the ball dropped. When I got to 5 I heard her say "Scarlett my names' Scarlett", I was kinda surprised I thought she would never open up. I reached out my hand and said " Nice to meet you Scarlett", and she reached out to shake my hand her hands were cold as ice. All of a sudden we heard yelling and she jumped up against me scared. I started laughing just a minute ago she was Mrs. tough girl. Looking up I saw the ball had dropped and it was officially my birthday. I look down at the girl in my arms and a smile formed across my face as I said out loud "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME".
