Chapter 8

[Alicia POV]

Once I got home I rushed home and sank into my bed,buried my head into my pillow.I felt so annoyed and dumb.

"I probably annoyed him alot by asking dumb questions .But they weren't dumb!I guess he just wants to stay mysterious,fine with me stay mysterious just never talk to me again!" I screamed into the pillow.

I laid there for quite a while probably because I heard the door open and mother came in talking on the phone as usual.I got up from my bed reluctantly and ran downstairs to help my mother prepare dinner before she shouts at me to do so.

"What there's another girl found dead?So what have you found so far?Okay.Okay.Was there any signs of physical trauma?Okay,send in the body to the local morgue for autopsy.Okay thanks bye."My mother hyperventilated.

"What happened mom?New case?" I asked

"Gosh these kind of cases are becoming very common now.Yeah,another death,another girl in just a month long." Mom sighed as she rubbed the tips of her finger against her forehead.

"Don't worry mom,you'll find the culprit soon.What to cook for dinner..."

"I can't eat right now,I have to go to the scene of the incident.I'll call aunt Zelda to come over and make you dinner." Mom replied.

Aunt Zelda is very talkative,the opposite of my mother,right now I don't feel like talking.

Mother left her bag on the table and proceeded to the door.

"Also kid,the murder happened very nearby,so afterschool you come straight back home you understand?Don't roam around."Mom commanded.

"How near?"

"Just a little far from your school. By the looks of it it happened just about an hour ago,around 6 30pm." Mom disclosed.Mom shortly left after Aunt Zelda came.

6:30 pm?Little farther from school?Me and Liam just passed that route near that hour.

I'm okay thankfully,but is Liam okay?

Me and Aunt Zelda were eating dinner,pasta,Aunt Zelda's best dish and the only good dish she could make.

"Did you hear what happen kid?"Aunt Zelda asked me.

"Yeah I know,Mom just told me what happened." I said as I stuffed a pasta into my mouth.

"How many cases are there so far,connected to this murder.Do you know?"I ask

"Yeah Lesley,your mother was venting about it to me.I was shocked.The pattern is usually the same,it's like a death of a girl every month.Till now 5." Aunt disclosed.

"So these murders has been happening for 5 months if you got the pattern right.Is it always near my school?" I asked.

"few times it happened near your school,few times in a carpark near the shopping mall we went to eat dinner.But i would say the murder that happened today was near your school,it's like near a children's park,now it's filled with blood how horrible." Aunt said as she nods her head in dismay.

Park?That's where me and Liam went to,did he see someone suspicious that's why he asked me to leave?

"Thats why your mom is very worried about you,even though she is always busy and scolds you.She always worries about you so keep that in mind Al." Aunt added.

I smiled at her as I scooped up the last piece of penne pasta into my mouth and went back to my room.My head couldnt stop spinning.Vanity is a city known as the safe haven,because it's a safe city.These murders are contradicting with this city's nature.My mom is worried about me,but I'm worried about her.Police finds the perpetrators,perpetrators will find the police that are after him to stop the investigation.I should be more worried.

On the other hand Liam.Gosh how can I contact him to tell him about this.He said he goes there everyday.I need to warn him about this,I don't care if he humiliated me,this is related to life and death so I am willing to talk to him by myself to prevent him from getting hurt,why am I caring too much for him?That's not my nature.

''Liam I hope you are home by now" I said under my own breath.

I turned off the lights and sank into my bed ,attemptingto fall asleep.

Liam..

Mom..

Murders..

Liam..

Mom..

I cannot sleep.

I need to call mom.

I turned on the lamp and checked the time.

1 a.m

Still no sign if mom.I called mom.No respond.Called again.No respond.Again and again and again.

She is probably busy I said to myself and just went back to bed.

BANG BANG BANG

I got up and opened the door startled.

"What's up Aunt Zelda ,you scared the hell out of me!" I said as I rubbed my eyes.

She just looks at me with her eyes opened.

"What...?" I ask again

"There has been another murder."
