Into the City

"Where did you come up with that story?" Luna asked while we were awaiting our chance to gain entry to the city from the outer district.

I grinned back at her, "My mom always said I had the gift of bullshit. I have always been able just to start talking on the spot and make up a full story." Luna nodded at my explanation, "You should write a book."

Hmm. Maybe I should.

Luna was aware of my real backstory. I had explained about my rebirth from another world. I had left out some of the more fantastical bits around Jupiter, being my father and all that.

Luna was fully shrouded in her cloak that covered her canine features as we passed through the inspection point. I asked the guard who approached us if he knew where to locate the Stoutdraft smithy. He shrugged, explaining he did not know of such a place. We were waved through before I could ask him to check with his comrades.

Luna flicked the reins, sending our carriage slowly rolling through the gate. What met our eyes upon crossing into the city was quite astounding. We were on the main avenue of the city, the roadway was for coaches wide, and it ran straight ahead for 500 metres before reaching a town square-like area. Both sides of the street were packed with buildings. I could see varying structure styles, from the expected German-style house I had anticipated in a fantasy world to ancient Greek-style marble buildings. There was no wasted vertical space either. Above most of the buildings, there were second, third, and sometimes even fourth stories, mostly given over to being apartments for the city's vast population.

A quick look at the signs around me, and the markers on my minimap, showed me a variety of businesses. I immediately took an interest in some of them, such as the magic bookstore, armoury, spellrod-specialty store, and the alchemist supply store. Luna flashed a smile as she watched my childlike wonder at the stores around us.

Upon remembering our purpose here, I looked around, spotting the building in question about halfway along the roadway. It was a large three-storey building that looked like a wild west saloon. The sign out front showed the Adventurers' Guild sign. I pointed it out to Luna and told her to take us to it. Rolling down the street, I spotted and added a few more stores to our eventual shopping trip. Just before the guild was a small alley just wide enough for even a larger carriage. The alley had signs denoting it was parking for guild members. Luna guided us down the alley, which slowly headed underground into a covered stable. An attendant came up with a lead and clipped it to our lead horse. He led our carriage to a spot and tied the lead to a hook on the wall before coming over to me.

"Your ID, sir?" he asked with his hand extended. I placed my tag into his hand. He tapped his own tag to it, nodded, handed me the tag back and then tapped his tag against a blank wooden placard on the stall in which we were parked. "You are set for the next three hours for free. After that, parking is two silver a week." "Thanks," I nodded to the man. Luna and I grabbed our bags and headed to the stairwell that led up to the Guildhall. We looked to be about two storeys underground as a landing separated the 24 stairs. A door exited the landing to what looked to be an underground level of the structure.

Once we reached the top of the stairs, we passed through an open set of doors. We were straight across from a set of saloon doors that looked out onto the street. To our right was the very saloon-themed eatery/bar, where there were a plethora of uniquely dressed adventurers drinking, chatting and eating dinner. One quickly obvious thing was that the majority of the adventurers were human. I only saw a single dwarf and tiger beastman. Guess the prejudice towards non-humans was as bad as I had heard. Also, on our right, next to the doorway we had emerged from, was a stairway leading upwards.

On our left was the typical Guild administration area. Two dozen tellers lined up along the wall we were closest to and a monolithic quest board on the far wall. Several tellers were standing by, waiting for adventurers to approach. I spotted the closest one who was organizing her desk. She stood out to me with her distinctive features. Her hair was an eye-catching seafoam colour. What is this? Is she the protagonist?

Her hair was trimmed in a neat bob cut centrally parted and outlining her round face. She had a pair of round spectacles on which would slowly slide down her nose before she would push them back up. She continued this repetitious cycle as she continued to rearrange her desk compulsively. Sitting above the glasses were her thick but neatly groomed eyebrows that were colour-matched to her head hair. Her face was rounded by the healthy amount of meat on her frame. She was by no means overweight, more of the pleasantly plump domain. This wealth of material allowed her to possess quite an impressive chest. Both of the swells on her chest were undoubtedly the same size as her head. While I was watching, she dropped a quill that bounced and slid under a cabinet behind her.

Sighing at the misfortune, she got down onto her hands and knees to find the missing writing implement. Disappearing from our sight, Luna and I, apparently in sync, as we both took a few steps to be in front of her desk. We now watched as she brought her head down to the ground so she could glance under the cabinet to try to spot the elusive escapee. As her head went down, her bottom stuck up and out further. Luna couldn't help but let out a low whistle in appreciation as the girl's butt made its worship-worthy presence known. Her hips redefined what child-bearing hips meant, as those puppies were at least 50% wider than her shoulders. Then her buttocks themselves must have been crafted by the god of lust themself as each globe was perfectly curved so as to cast a siren's call to give it a smack, just to watch it ripple.

She was wearing a pair of what in my old world would have been called yoga pants. In this world, though, they were made of spider monster's silk rather than a human-made material. Regardless of what they were made of, they show off the goods, the booty and the thick voluptuous thighs the rest under them. Luna followed up the whistle with two little words, "She's stacked..." At these words, the girl whose bottom had been alluringly wiggling as she struggled to reach her prize suddenly froze.

"She has got a dump truck on her for sure," I concurred. "Dump truck?" Luna tilted her covered head as she did not understand the word I had just spoken. "Umm, it is a phrase from my hometown. It is used to compliment(?) a person who has been blessed with an impressively sized rear." Luna nodded at my brief explanation. Maybe I will explain what an actual dump truck is later and just how large one could be so she understands.

Our learning session was interrupted by a small voice, "I-i-impressively sized rear... please don't make fun of me, sir. Or I will have to get the Guildmaster." Scarlet in the face, eyes cast down at the quill she held in her hands, the Guild officer was now standing, facing us. "Oh, I do need to talk to the Guildmaster, but about a quest. As for making fun of you, I did not mean for my words to injure you. It is just rare to come across a woman with both a cute face and such a blessedly endowed body." Luna nodded beside me, adding additional weight to my words.

A confused expression now was plastered on the girl's blushing face. "You don't find my slovenly body disgusting?" She questioned me incredulously. "Slovenly? Far from it. I find you quite attractive. You don't look to be slovenly. Look how well organized your desk is and how well-groomed you are. Why would you suspect me to feel that way if you don't mind me asking, Miss --?"

Bowing deeply, she introduced herself, "My name is Io, no Miss required, sir. And if you don't mind listening, I wouldn't mind telling you. But a quick question, are you part dwarf?"

Part dwarf? "No, I am fully human. Why?" Smiling at the apparent news, Io launched into her explanation.
