CHOICE

After the boy left home, he arrived at the railway station in just about 15 minutes.

While waiting for the train, he scanned his surroundings.

There was only a blind mother and her 5 to 7-year-old child, waiting for the train.

Even after waiting for 20 minutes, there were no signs of any trains arriving.

After waiting for a few more minutes, he checked again.

After making sure that no train was coming, he went to the restroom.

When he came back to the platform, what he saw shook his entire existence.

He saw the child on the track, and his mother was nowhere to be seen.

Furthermore, there was a train coming just a couple of meters away from the child.

He couldn't fully understand the situation because he didn't hear any train sound when he was in the toilet.

But there was no time to think.

He had to choose whether to save the child or not.

Because if he picked the child, he could not save himself.

But if he did not save the child, then this incident would haunt him for the rest of his life.

He didn't know what to do.

After all, this was the first time he was stuck in a situation like this.

But time waits for no man.

The train was now just a few feet away from the kid.

So, he made up his mind not to save the child. Because he was not 100% sure that he could save the child, and he was afraid of dying.

So, he steeled his heart and watched as the kid die with sad eyes, without looking away or blinking.

He knew that he was pathetic, and the kid didn't deserve to die, but he didn't regret his choice.

So he watched the kid who, in his last moment, smiled at him before dying.

This left him startled.

Shockingly, the train didn't stop at the station.

When he moved to check the condition of the kid, he was stunned.

"Where is the body?" he muttered.

The body, blood, and even the track were gone.

There was just a wooden floor.

When he looked at his surroundings, he was not at the railway station anymore.

"What the fu*k," he screamed out loud.

He was now standing in a cozy room.

Looking around, he could see some expensive paintings hanging on the walls.

Outside the open window, he could see an artificial pond.

He guessed that this was a luxury hotel.

'Clank' 'munch' 'munch' 'gulp,' he heard some sounds.

Looking in the direction of the sound, he saw the 'blind mother' of that child eating the food on her table like there was no tomorrow.

Seeing that she loved her food very much, he didn't stop her because he knew that being disturbed while eating would be very annoying.

So, he sat on the other side of the table.

'Chomp' 'munch' 'munch' 'gulp.'

'Cough' 'cough,' suddenly she choked.

He instantly poured water for her and handed her some napkins (since it's the boy's family culture).

After cleaning the spilled water, she continued to eat as if nothing had happened.

He was speechless at her behavior.

Finally, after finishing a fulfilling meal, she took her drink and sipped on it while looking at him intently.

When she finished her drink, she put the empty glass down on the table and started the conversation.

"Why didn't you ask anything?" she asked.

He looked at her for 5 seconds and asked, "How can you eat so much?"

Silence.

She couldn't process his question quickly because he could've asked something like who she was or how he was there.

But he asked something out of her expectation.

'Interesting fellow,' she thought to herself.

"How rude! You can't ask something like that to a woman," she said while pouting.

'Cute,' he thought.

But remembering his situation, he asked seriously, "Who are you?"

She thought for a while and decided not to play around after seeing his serious mood.

"I'M A GODDESS," she said while looking into his eyes.

Even though he expected something like that, he was slightly shocked.

"Then that child," he said.

"Fake," she replied nonchalantly.

But for him, it was like something had been lifted from his chest.

"Why did you do it?" the boy asked with a neutral gaze.

"To test you," she replied.

"Test for what?" he asked.

"To test your will, to see whether you have what it takes to be given the choice that will be granted to a random person in the world."

"Did I pass?" he asked curiously.

"Yes, you have shown your will to live by choosing not to save the child. Most people would have decided to save the child even if it meant their death," she replied.

"So, what is the legendary 'CHOICE' you're speaking of?" he said.

"It's either you can have random power like time, space, fire, ice, super strength, etc., instantly. It can be a godlike power or a trashlike power. It depends on your luck."

"What is the other option?" he asked calmly.

"You can get a new life in another world, gain all the knowledge and talent about any fighting power, but you have to work hard to get stronger and survive in a world where power is everything.

So, decide, human, whether you will depend on your luck or on yourself," she asked dramatically.
