53 A Song for a Heart So Big

"What's wrong?!" 

Molaki leapt out of bed after her, so frantic he almost ripped the entirety of the bedsheets onto the floor. 

"I can- I can smell?!" 

The two of them were now standing on her side of the bed, naked, the wolf's arms outstretched holding onto Asta's shoulders, his eyes rapidly looking over her body for what was hurting her. 

"...You couldn't smell anything before?" 

Asta shook her head vigorously, pulling back from Molaki to run her hands through her knotted, messed hair. 

"No no no no - it changed again! You're Scared?!" 

"For you, yes! Wait - " 

It dawned on him, what she was saying, as she started to pace around him, nostrils flaring. 

"Calm down, it's okay, it's fine," he offered, crouching slightly to appear smaller, again reverting back to how he acted when she was feeling like prey and scared. That's not what Asta was experiencing this time, though. She was just... utterly confused.
