New Year Special - You've Been Recruited

Previously: The Doctor escaped The Unknown as The 12th Doctor gave his life up to save himself. The Doctor and Kathy planned to recruit some Timelords to help stop The Unknown.

Two Tardis' start to materialise in the middle of a desert.

One of them is a triangular shape, it is red and black.

The Rani then steps out of it and she looks around at the area she is in.

The other one is a bright purple box.

The Master then steps out of it and he looks over at The Rani.

The Master then says "what are you doing here?".

The Rani says "I don't know, I was on the planet Barock, but out of the blue, my Tardis materialised, I'm still unsure on how that happened".

Suddenly, The Doctor's Tardis starts to materialise in the desert, and near the other two Tardis'.

The Master then sighs "I should have known".

The Doctor and Kathy then step out of the Tardis.

The Doctor then says "Master...Rani. You're being recruited, for my mission".

Kathy smiles at them.

The Master and The Rani both look at each other.

The Doctor looks at The Rani "I see your Tardis found you, you're welcome-" The Rani then says "you sent it back to me?" The Doctor "everybody has a price, I thought your Tardis back might be the thing you wanted more in the universe" The Master then nods "what about me? My price?" The Doctor smiles and he opens his arms "a planet, this is Orphan Six, an early Orphan planet, it's yours to keep" The Master smiles at the Doctor "what's the mission?" The Doctor goes to open his mouth, but suddenly gunshots are fired towards the four of them.

Running along the desert, The Doctor, The Master, The Rani, and Kathy all avoid getting shot at.

Up ahead is a small cabin.

The Rani then pulls a weird-looking Sonic Screwdriver out, she points it towards the door and sonics it open.

Kathy pushes onto the door, opening it.

The Doctor, The Master, and The Rani all run inside.

Inside the cabin, everyone stands around trying to catch their breaths.

Kathy looks at The Doctor and she says "what was that? Who were they?" The Doctor then says "not sure at the minute, but we should have just gotten into our Tardis'...a little too late now".

The Master looks at The Doctor "so, this mission of yours, I'm assuming it involves killer robots?" The Doctor then shakes his head "not really, just a little bit of a side mission" The Rani then turns around and she says "if this mission has anything to do with The Unknown-" The Master then shouts "The Unknown?" The Doctor rolls his eyes and says "to stop a Timelord, you need a Timelord! I need your help, both of you, please!" The Rani shakes her head at The Doctor.

Suddenly, the cabin door is kicked open, a robot holding a rifle then walks in saying in a robotic voice "you will all stay where you are and accept your execution-" The Master then says "I think not" The Doctor points his Sonic Screwdriver and sonics the robot, causing its head to spark.

The robot then drops to the floor.

The Doctor says "Rani, Master, keep an eye on the door for anymore" The Master stares at The Doctor "since when are you in charge of me?" The Doctor glares at The Master "since now!".

The Master walks over to the cabin door, standing beside The Rani.

The two of them watch outside.

The Doctor kneels down beside the robot with Kathy.

Kathy looks at The Doctor "you really think we can trust those two?" The Doctor sighs "we don't really have much choice if we want to stop The Unknown...we need them to help us".

The Doctor then pulls the robot's head off and says "there we go".

The Doctor sonics the robot's head and says "let's see what you are then".

Kathy then says "so?".

The Doctor says in shock "it's an Orphan Bot-".

The Rani then says "what did you just say?".

The Doctor sighs "an Orphan Bot" The Rani shouts at him "YOU BROUGHT US ONTO A PLANET WHERE THERE ARE ORPHAN BOTS?" Kathy then says "alright, everyone calm down, what's an Orphan Bot?" The Doctor goes to speak until The Rani says "an Orphan Bot is a group of robots sent to orphan planets to keep any living thing off of them, mainly executing them".

The Doctor says "they're sent down by the Shadow Proclamation, basically space-police".

Kathy looks at The Doctor in shock "how do we stop them?" The Doctor shakes his head "I'm not sure just yet" Kathy rolls her eyes "so we're stuck?" The Doctor nods at her.

Outside, along the desert, Orphan Bots march towards the cabin.

Inside the cabin, The Master then says "Doctor, they're coming...I'm assuming you have a plan, considering you said that you're in charge".

The Doctor shakes his head "I'm not sure".

Kathy runs up to the window and she says "Doctor, they're getting closer!".

Outside, the Orphan Bots start to shoot at the cabin.

Kathy ducks, hiding below the window.

The Doctor sees windows smashing inside the cabin.

The Doctor looks at the robot that is on the floor and he says "erm-".

The Rani sighs "Doctor, move out of the way!".

The Rani pulls another object out of her pocket and she says "Sonic Knife".

The Rani puts her Sonic Knife into the slot where the Orphan Bot's head was.

The Rani says "all the robots are connected, so a single input-".

The Rani then sonics the Orphan Bot.

Outside, all the Orphan Bots start to fall to the floor.

Kathy then looks back out of the smashed window and she smiles "Doctor, you did it!".

Kathy turns around and she sees The Rani stand up.

The Rani then says "actually, it was me".

The Doctor smiles at The Rani "you saved us all".

The Master then sighs "let's stop getting all sentimental, let's get back to our Tardis'".

Walking along the desert, the four of them continue walking back to their Tardis'.

The Master turns and looks at The Doctor "so, what is your master plan in stopping The Unknown, I mean...not that I've agreed to help you, but what would we be doing?" The Rani nods at The Doctor "I'm curious to hear that too".

The Doctor then says "well, it's still a work in progress, but by the time we're there I'll have figured something out".

The Rani then says "so, you don't have a plan?" The Doctor says "I never have a plan, I just work on the moment and on the spot" Kathy smiles at The Doctor.

Kathy then looks at The Master and at The Rani "The Unknown has taken out three of The Doctor's incarnations's now...it won't be long until more and more are taken".

The Master turns around, seeing something in the distance.

The Doctor nods and says "if we don't stop The Unknown, it could wipe me out of time completely. If it does that, it will then come for all of you, you've all had many bodies, many lives...it will want you too. I'm not just doing this for me, I want us to do this for us-".

The Master then says "there won't be an us soon if we don't hurry up and run".

The Doctor looks at him and says "what do you mean?".

The Rani turns around and she sees the Orphan Bots marching towards them.

Kathy then says "I thought you shut them down?" The Rani sighs "I must've temporarily disabled them, or they've been reactivated by their owners at the Shadow Proclamation".

The Doctor then says "alright, we should maybe start running, like now!".

Running along the desert, the four of them run together.

The skies start to turn dark with dark-grey clouds.

Orphan Bots shoot their guns towards The Doctor, The Rani, The Master, and Kathy.

Kathy shouts "we need to do something about these bots!".

The Doctor says "for now keep running until there is a plan".

The Rani says "if we can get ahold of one, I can use it to disable them again".

The Doctor shakes his head "no point, they'll just wake up again".

The Master sighs "are you all idiots? Has anyone looked at the sky".

The Doctor, The Rani, and Kathy look up at the sky.

A raindrop falls onto Kathy's face.

The Doctor then smiles "keep running!".

As The Orphan Bots continue to shoot at The Doctor and everyone else, up in the sky, rain clouds continue to form.

Raindrops continue to drop, they drop harder every second until it's pouring down of rain.

The Doctor and the others stop running and they turn around, looking at all the Orphan Bots.

The Orphan Bots start to spark, causing their heads to blow up.

Other Orphan Bots fall to the floor dead.

Kathy smiles as she watches the Orphan Bots.

The Master then says "rain! Best not to be a robot when it's raining".

The Doctor looks at The Master and he nods "I suppose it's a good job it rained".

The Rani looks at The Doctor and she says "you knew about this didn't you?" The Doctor turns his head, looking at her and he says "what?" The Rani nods "you knew about what was going to happen, you wanted me to save us back at the cabin, and you knew it would rain. Why?".

The Doctor smiles at her "so we could work together, protect each other" The Master then says "we still never agreed to anything!".

The Doctor looks at The Master and he says "well, you're not saying no either".

The Master glares at The Doctor "give me one reason why I should say yes" The Doctor smiles "survival? Don't you want to survive?" The Master stares at The Doctor.

The Rani then says "if The Unknown wants a fight, it can come to me. I'm sorry Doctor, I don't take missions, I hope you can beat it, but...I won't be there to help".

The Doctor watches The Rani walk into her Tardis, and it starts to dematerialise.

The Doctor then looks at The Master. The Master nods at The Doctor "I'm sorry Doctor, but Rani has a point, it's not my fight, it's yours, if it wants a fight then it's more than welcome to find me, but it's your fight, I hope you can win too. But if not, then it was nice knowing you".

The Master then walks into his Tardis.

The Doctor stands there disappointed as The Master's Tardis dematerialise.

The time rotor moves up and down in flight.

The Doctor watches the time rotor and he sighs "there's nothing else we can do" Kathy looks at him "so, we're giving up? When do you give up? Alright, we don't have The Master and The Rani, there must be other Timelords out there who can help us" The Doctor glares at Kathy "there's not, or if there is then I don't know where to find them!" Kathy sighs "it's a shame your other face isn't around anymore, he could have helped us" The Doctor nods at her.

The Doctor's face then lights up "me".

Kathy looks at him and says "what?" The Doctor smiles "there's me, I don't need other Timelords, because I have me...all of me. I know how to stop The Unknown. Kathy, you're about to meet some of my old faces, a privilege that not all of my companions get to see. But we're close, close to beating this monster and fixing my timeline. You sure you want to be a part of this?" Kathy then walks over to The Doctor and she says "are you serious? Of course! I am with you! With you to the end, just like I said right at the beginning" The Doctor smiles at Kathy "well then, let's go and gather up me! And stop The Unknown!".

The Doctor pulls a lever, and flicks, and presses some buttons.

Kathy holds onto a railing as the Tardis continues to fly.

The Doctor looks at Kathy and he smiles at her.

First Special Episode - The Doctor Returns - Arriving back in San Francisco, The Doctor returns to find his friend Grace Holloway. With a lot of time passing since their first meet, the two rekindle their relationship. The Doctor discovers that brains are being stolen from the morgue at the hospital.
