Episode 9 - The Unknown - Part 1

Previously: After going into The Void to save Greg who had accidentally caused a creature known as The Unknown to get into the Tardis, The Doctor, Maya, and Greg managed to force it out of the Tardis. The Rani revealed that The Doctor hadn't locked it properly into the Void but it had fallen back into their universe. UNIT and Kate had forgotten who The Doctor was. The Rani revealed that some of The Doctor's incarnations were already gone. Jack revealed that he was told to tell The Doctor to go to Trenzalore.

A classic-looking Tardis console is seen, the time rotor moves up and down in flight.

The 2nd Doctor then presses a button and says "well, what do we have here, a breach in the Tardis, how is that possible!".

The 2nd Doctor turns around and shouts "POLLY!".

Suddenly, a growl is heard coming from behind him.

The 2nd Doctor turns around where he sees The Unknown.

The 2nd Doctor then says "who might you be?" The Unknown puts its hand onto The 2nd Doctor's head. The 2nd Doctor starts to scream as his face disintegrates into dust.

The console room turns into dust until there's nothing left other than space outside.

The Tardis materialises down on Trenzalore.

The Tardis door opens, The Doctor walks out with Kathy and Jack.

The Doctor then says "here we go again" Kathy then says "what do you mean again?" The Doctor then says "I was here before, during my eleventh incarnation, it was said this is the planet where I'd be buried" Kathy stares at him "what? Then why are we here!" Jack says "because something wants us here" The Doctor nods at them "right, let's go down and see who wants us, shall we?".

As The Doctor, Kathy, and Jack walk away, behind them, The Tardis starts to slowly sink into the ground.

In the middle of an old town, The Doctor looks around at all the burnt down and destroyed buildings. Kathy then says "what happened here?" The Doctor says "what happens to everything eventually, it dies. I did save this planet at some point, but we're millions of years in the future, so far that the universe is dying too" Kathy looks at The Doctor "how do you stop a universe from dying?" The Doctor shakes his head "you can't, everything dies eventually".

Jack then looks over at a building and he points at it "Doctor" The Doctor then looks over at it too, where they see a church that hasn't been burnt or destroyed.

The Doctor then nods "alright, let's check it out".

The wind howls in the distance on Trenzalore.

The Doctor, Kathy, and Jack walk over to the church.

Jack pushes on the doors, and they squeak open.

Walking inside, The Doctor looks around at the building.

As they look up the middle of the aisle, they see something standing watching them.

Jack and Kathy look up at it nervously. Jack then said, "we have a friend here Doctor".

The Doctor turns around, looking up at the thing that is watching them, The Doctor sees the person standing in the shadows. The Doctor then says "hello, I'm The Doctor. This is Kathy and Jack. Mind telling us who you are?".

The creature stands out of the shadows, revealing The Unknown.

Chains hang off of The Unknown and it growls "Doctor!".

The Doctor stares in shock "no".

Inside the church, The Doctor stands with Jack and Kathy.

The Doctor nods at The Unknown and says "well? We're here, I'm here...so what happens now?" The Unknown growls "I take you!" The Doctor stares at The Unknown "you were the stuff of nightmares back on Gallifrey, but we can barely remember you, what are you and who are you?".

The Unknown looks up at The Doctor "you really don't know? The Timelords kept me a secret for many years, I was locked down in the Cloisters for thousands of years. But I got out, attacked Gallifrey, and made my escape. The Timelords made a name up for me...and made me a monster, they threw me into The Void where I have been for an eternity...I've seen the universe end and begin over a thousand times...I have seen every single possible thing you can think of, and I still live. You let me out, and now the Timelords are gonna pay, they're gonna die...starting with Gallifrey's most famous Timelord...The Doctor! I already have two of you, and you're next!".

The Doctor then says "I'm sorry for what they did to you, if we'd have known, we'd have helped, this isn't my fault, it's the fault of the Timelords originally...but you still haven't told me who you actually are!" The Unknown then says "I was the first generation of Timelords, I helped to build the Capitol!" The Doctor stares at The Unknown. The Uknown then says "and now Doctor, you and all of your friends are going to die!" The Doctor shakes his head "not on my watch".

Running outside the church, Kathy runs out first, along with Jack, and then The Doctor.

Kathy looks at The Doctor "where do we go?" The Doctor then says "the Tardis, we need to get away from here-".

Suddenly, the church door is broken open, and The Unknown growls.

Kathy stares in shock.

The Doctor then says "run!".

Jack smiles "oh, I missed this".

The Doctor, Kathy, and Jack start running.

Many Many Years Ago:

A classic-looking Tardis exterior sits on a planet.

Birds chirping is heard.

The 3rd Doctor walks over to the door and he pulls a key out to unlock it.

The 3rd Doctor turns around and looks around, then says "Sarah-Jane? Where have you gone?".

The Unknown then says "she's gone, just like you will be in a minute!".

The 3rd Doctor looks at The Unknown and says "who are you? Do I know you?" The Unknown then smiles "yes, but you're now going to forget me".

The Unknown puts its hand onto The 3rd Doctor's head. The 3rd Doctor starts to scream as his face disintegrates into dust.

The Tardis turns into dust, The Unknown stands there smiling.

Present Day:

The Doctor, Kathy, and Jack run up to where the Tardis was.

Jack then says "wasn't the Tardis parked here?".

The Doctor sighs "it's gone, taken by the ground".

Kathy turns around, seeing The Unknown in the distance, coming towards them.

Kathy then says "so, what do we do now?" The Doctor looks at them "keep running, we'll find shelter somewhere until I can figure something out, come on!".

The three of them continue running.

The Unknown walks around a deserted village.

There are many houses, all of them are broken down abandoned.

Inside one of the houses, The Doctor sits with Kathy and Jack.

Jack then looks at The Doctor "so, what is this thing exactly?" The Doctor then says "a Timelord, one of the original ones, the Timelords have been around for so long, even we don't know what they evolved from...this is clearly what they used to look like" Kathy then looks at The Doctor "it's a monster!" The Doctor nods "we've all evolved from something" Jack then says "do we kill it?" The Doctor shakes his head "no, we can't. That thing, it's a one of a kind, we need it alive, also I still think there's a chance to save my second and third incarnation. I'm not giving up on them, not yet, they're lives I won't just give away...I've had my lives taken away before, by The Division, I won't lose them again!" Jack nods at The Doctor.

The Doctor then says "this thing is the most dangerous thing in the entire universe, if it gets you, then you will be erased from the universe, you'll never have lived at all. It's a living creature-eraser. I'm sorry Jack, but even you can't outlive something like this, it could literally make you unhappen, even you're in danger" Jack says "damn, how do we stop something like this then?" The Doctor shakes his head "I don't think we can".

The Doctor looks around at the room they're in, The Doctor then says "maybe if-".

Suddenly, an electric-like sound is heard, and the sound of vwoorping is also heard, but it stops seconds after.

Kathy looks at Jack "what was that?" Jack shakes his head "I'm not sure".

Kathy then looks at The Doctor "what do we do?" The Doctor then looks at the ground.

Kathy stares at The Doctor with tears in her eyes "Doctor! What do we do? We can't just give up, give in to this thing? Right?".

The Doctor then looks up and says "Jack, give me your vortex manipulator".

Jack then hands it over to The Doctor.

The Doctor looks at Jack and Kathy and he says "what I do now, I do it alone...it's too dangerous for the two of you, this thing could kill either of you, no one is invincible when this thing is around" Jack nods at The Doctor "what do you want us to do?" The Doctor smiles at them "you stay here, hide...I'll come back for you if I survive" Kathy shakes her head "what if you don't come back?" The Doctor smiles at her.

The Doctor then pulls out his Sonic Screwdriver and he sonics the vortex manipulator.

The Doctor hands it to Jack "it's a one-way trip back to Earth, Jack, if I don't come back, Kathy will need to be taken care of, UNIT is after her, hopefully, once I'm finished here, they'll be back to themselves. But after you return home, you won't ever be able to use this vortex manipulator, if I'm not around, I don't want you bouncing around the universe" Jack smirks at The Doctor "you'll come back, I know you will" The Doctor smiles at Jack.

The Doctor then stands up and he looks at Jack "it was good seeing you again, who knows, maybe I'll see you again someday?" Jack smiles at The Doctor "you better do".

Jack then shakes The Doctor's hand.

The Doctor then walks over to Kathy, Kathy looks at him with tears in her eyes.

The Doctor smiles "don't cry, nothing's worth crying over, it's more useful being used in making new memories. If this is the last time I see you-" Kathy shakes her head "it won't-".

The Doctor nods at her "if it is, then I want you to take care of yourself, and find a way to move forward past all the deaths you've seen, you're more than capable enough to do so, got it?" Kathy nods at The Doctor "yeah" The Doctor smiles at her "I'm proud of you" Kathy smiles at him.

The Doctor then looks at Jack, then at Kathy "Jack, Kathy...goodbye".

The Doctor then walks out of the house, Jack and Kathy watch The Doctor walking away.

The Doctor stands in the middle of the deserted village and The Doctor shouts "I'M HERE, WAITING FOR YOU, WHERE ARE YOU?".

The Unknown stomps out from behind a house, The Doctor turns his head, watching The Unknown.

Chains clank together as The Unknown growls at The Doctor "you finally give yourself in?".

The Doctor smiles "no, I'm saving some good friends".

The Unknown starts running towards The Doctor.

The Doctor then says to himself "one last run Doctor-".

The Doctor then starts to run.

Running out of the deserted village, The Unknown follows The Doctor.

The Doctor looks into the distance at the church.

The Doctor mutters to himself "I've got a place to take you".

The Doctor starts running towards the church.

Kathy and Jack step outside and into the deserted village.

Jack starts to walk off in the opposite direction.

Kathy watches him and she says "what are you doing?" Jack then says "I'm gonna try and find the Tardis" Kathy shakes her head "no, we have to help The Doctor" Jack then scoffs "you heard what he said-" Kathy nods at him "I know what he said, and I won't listen to him, he always needs help, he's just too afraid to ask for it, surely you must know that" Jack stares at her.

Kathy then starts to walk in the direction that The Doctor went in, Jack sighs and he says "dammit, Kathy wait for me-".

As Kathy and Jack exit the deserted village, the sound of vwoorping is heard yet again, but this time it's stronger, and the wind starts to pick up, as a blue box starts to materialise in the village.

A blue Tardis land, at the front there is a St John Ambulance logo. The windows are black with white window frames.

The Tardis door opens, and a bright light overpowers a figure standing in the doorway.

The Doctor stands in the church as The Unknown walks inside, The Unknown then says "your time is running near Doctor, are you ready? Ready to face your death?".

The Doctor then says "everyone's time comes to an end, mine will come to an end, ending you!".

Kathy and Jack run into the church.

The Unknown then puts its hand onto The Doctor's head.

Kathy screams "DOCTOR!". Jack shakes his head in shock.

The Doctor starts to scream.

Suddenly, a man runs into the room, wearing a red velvet jacket.

Kathy and Jack turn around, looking at the man.

The man is then revealed the be The 12th Doctor.

The 12th Doctor then shouts "creature from the stuff of nightmares, let him go, now!".

The Unknown then growls.

The 14th Doctor's eyes are closed are ripples of time flash past his eyes.

A bright orange glow lights up Kathy's and Jack's faces as they stand inside the 12th Doctor's Tardis.

The 14th Doctor steps out of the Tardis, he looks around outside, where he then sees the Redburn's house.

Walking down into a small cave together, Jack helps Kathy down a slope.

The 12th Doctor then says to The Unknown "hello there, I'm The Doctor, the original, you might say" The Unknown then says "you interrupted my feast!".

The Unknown growls at The 14th Doctor and starts charging towards him.

The 14th Doctor then says "you're taking my life, everything I've...you're taking it!".

The Unknown then says "I will devour it all!".

Next Time - The Unknown - Part 2 - Trapped by The Unknown and having his life devoured, The 14th Doctor tries to keep his life intact. The 12th Doctor works with Jack and Kathy to try and save The 14th Doctor from a deadly villain that can cause time to change.
