Episode 1 - The Doctor Returns

A container opens, a doctor pulls a body out of a drawer inside a Morgue.

The doctor writes on a sheet.

Suddenly, a door opens behind the doctor, the doctor turns around and says "hello? Sorry you can't be down here".

As the doctor walks towards the door, an Earthshock Cyberman steps out from the shadows and grabs the doctor, and says "you will be eradicated!".

The Earthshock Cyber Leader steps into the Morgue and says "get the patient, his brain will be useful!".

Daphne Ashbrook - Grace Holloway

High-heels click-clack on the pavement, Grace Holloway walks along the pavement.

Grace looks over at the hospital and she smiles.

Walking into the hospital, Grace smiles at a receptionist and says "morning" the receptionist smiles "morning Grace, how're you?" Grace nods "I'm feeling great".

Grace walks into the staff room and she puts her bag down.

Walking out of the staff room, Grace walks over to a cubicle, she pulls a file out of the holder and she reads the name 'John Smith'.

Grace stares at the name and she sighs.

Grace then walks into the cubicle "alright Mr. Smith, how can I help-".

Grace then sets her eyes on The 8th Doctor.

The 8th Doctor smiles "hello again Grace".

Inside the cubicle, Grace says "oh my god, Doctor? I can't believe you're here" The Doctor nods "well, you know...I was just thinking a few days ago on Skaro that I hadn't dropped in and seen you in a long time, how are you?" Grace smiles at The Doctor and she nods "yeah, I'm good".

The Doctor stands up and he says "right, wanna grab a tea? Or something" Grace nods "a coffee, that would be nice" The Doctor smiles at Grace "coffee it is then".

At the cafe, inside the hospital, The Doctor and Grace sit together.

Grace says "and I got promoted, and I've just stayed here since. You know, all that stuff that happened with The Master, it was crazy, but it changed my life, I thought I could go and travel the planet, but things didn't change, money was bad, so I just went back to ordinary life somehow" The Doctor nods at her "I should've come back sooner" Grace smiles "it's been twenty years, sometimes it feels longer" The Doctor nods "I always come back in the end".

As The Doctor sits in his seat, he watches as policemen walk into the hospital, they talk to one of the nurses.

The Doctor then says "Grace, what happened?" Grace turns around and she looks over at the police and says "oh, someone was murdered down in the morgue" The Doctor looks at Grace "what do you mean?" Grace says "a doctor was murdered" The Doctor then looks at Grace and says "fancy going and checking it out? Like the old days?" Grace smiles at The Doctor.

Water drips from the ceiling down in the morgue.

The Doctor walks in seeing police tape around an area of the room where a doctor's body lays.

Grace looks at The Doctor "we shouldn't be in here" The Doctor nods "yeah, well...I'm nosy".

The Doctor kneels down near the doctor's body and The Doctor then says "that's strange-" Grace nods "a dead body?" The Doctor shakes his head "no, well yes a dead body, but what's missing" Grace turns her head and she looks at The Doctor nervously "what do you mean missing?" The Doctor points at the doctor's head and says "his brain is missing, it's completely gone!".

The Doctor then sees a small piece of metal on the floor and he says "and this, this isn't right".

The Doctor picks up the metal and he looks at Grace "come with me".

Grace follows The Doctor outside of the hospital, Grace then turns around a corner with The Doctor, where she then sees the Tardis.

Grace smiles "it's still a police box?" The Doctor nods at her "yep, come on in".

Grace steps inside the Tardis, the Tardis hasn't changed, the surrounding area of the inside has bookshelves, seats, arches. The console room is reminiscent of Victorian-era living space.

In the middle is the copper console with a blue time rotor.

Grace smiles "I've missed this room" The Doctor nods at her "oh, I bet".

The Doctor runs up to the console and pulls out the small piece of metal and places it in a hole on the console. The Doctor presses a button and says "alright, let's see what you are".

Grace walks over to him and she says "well?".

The Doctor then looks at a screen on the console and he says "oh dear, this isn't good" Grace smiles at him "as in?" The Doctor looks at her "this metal, it's from one of my deadliest foes, they're here, in San Francisco!" Grace shakes her head "Doctor! Who's here!" The Doctor then looks at her and says "The Cybermen!".

An Earthshock Cyber Leader then says "correct Doctor, we have this city under Cyber control!".

The Doctor and Grace both turn around and they look at the Cyber Leader who stands with three other Earthshock Cybermen.

The Doctor then says "what do you mean?" the Cyber Leader says "as we stand here, Cybermen are rising, and this city will be ours!" The Doctor shakes his head "no!" the Cyber Leader says "for many months we have been taking the brains off of the dead, to create an army of Cybermen, now we rise, with The Doctor being our first kill!".

Outside, in the streets of San Francisco, Earthshock Cybermen starts to climb out of the sewers.

Cybermen hold guns and they start to aim that at people in the streets.

Around the city of San Francisco, people start to run, they are screaming.

Back in the Tardis, the Cyber Leader then says "we will eradicate the Earth!".

Grace looks at The Doctor and she is nervous.

The Doctor and Grace walk out of the Tardis, the Cybermen follow them out of the Tardis, pointing their guns at them.

The Doctor and Grace look around them at lines of people who have their hands on their heads as Cybermen aim guns at them.

Grace looks at The Doctor and says "please tell me you can fix this?" The Doctor looks at Grace and he says "give me time Grace, I'm working on something" Grace nods at him.

All of a sudden, UNIT soldiers run out from buildings, they point their guns at the Cybermen.

Grace looks at The Doctor and she says "who are they?" The Doctor then says "UNIT, they're far from home" Grace looks at The Doctor.

Suddenly, a man walks out with a couple of UNIT soldiers, the man then says "Doctor, well, I'm assuming you're the Doctor, I don't think I've met your incarnation yet?" The Doctor then smiles at the man "Brigadier? Is that you?" The Brigadier smiles "yes Doctor, it's been a while".

The Brigadier then looks at the Cyber Leader and says "we have the city under UNIT control, you should surrender" the Cyber Leader then says "the Cybermen will not surrender, you will surrender or you will be eradicated!" The Brigadier stares at the Cyber Leader and says "I really don't think I will" The Doctor smiles at The Brigadier.

The Doctor then moves away from the Cybermen, and he stands beside the Brigadier with Grace.

The Doctor then says "now, if I was you, I would say to retreat from this planet whilst you still have a chance, or you will be stopped".

The Cyber Leader steps forward and says "Cybermen will attack!".

The Doctor then pulls Grace down to the ground as the Cybermen start to fire.

The Brigadier points his revolver, shooting the Cyber Leader.

The Cyber Leader then falls to the floor with a bullet in its chest plate.

Grace looks at The Doctor "I forgot how dangerous it was with you!" The Doctor laughs at her "I love the adrenaline" Grace nods at him "me too".

The Brigadier then says "Doctor! Come on!".

The Doctor, Grace, and The Brigadier run towards a barrier to take cover.

The Doctor then looks at The Brigadier and he says "we need to try and gather all the Cybermen together, I need to see the numbers, see what we're dealing with".

The Brigadier then nods "I'll get my UNIT soldiers to lure them here, to the hospital".

Whilst trying to take cover, Grace looks at The Doctor and she says "Doctor?" The Doctor nods at her "yeah?" Grace then says "after we stop them, the Cybermen, do you think, well...do you think it's possible that I could come with you this time?" The Doctor stares at her.

The Brigadier then says "Doctor! They're here!".

The Doctor watches as hundreds of Cybermen start to make their way to the area.

The Doctor nods "there's too many, I need to make a transfer archway-" Grace shakes her head and says "a what?" The Doctor says "I can create an archway to a random planet in the universe, we force the Cybermen through, they'll be off of your planet, and we'll save this city".

The Brigadier then says "Doctor, tell me what you need and we'll get it for you".

Later on, The Doctor sits on the ground tieing wires together.

Grace sits watching him as UNIT soldiers and Cybermen continue to fire at each other.

The Brigadier then says "Doctor, not to pressure you but they're getting closer".

The Doctor then pushes a wire into a device and smiles "finished!".

The Brigadier nods "what do we need to do now?" The Doctor says "get us into the hospital, and I'll finish this" The Brigadier nod at him "alright".

Suddenly, The Doctor starts to run with The Brigadier and Grace towards the hospital.

UNIT soldiers open fire at the Cybermen, holding them off from The Doctor and the others.

The Doctor and the others run into the hospital together.

The Doctor stands near the door as shots get fired towards them.

The Doctor attaches the device to the door and he stands back and says "Brigadier, call your soldiers to stop shooting, let the Cybermen come to us" The Brigadier nods.

The Doctor pulls his Sonic Screwdriver out and he sonics the device.

A blue-purple portal opens, the Cybermen start to walk through it.

Grace smiles at The Doctor and she smiles "it's working!".

Finally, the last Cyberman walks through, and the portal closes.

The Doctor, Grace, and The Brigadier walk outside, the UNIT soldiers and civilians all start to applaud, The Doctor smiles at everyone. Grace holds The Doctor's hand and she smiles.

A little while later, sirens are heard all around the city, The Doctor and Grace stand with The Brigadier.

The Doctor shakes his hand and says "well, it was nice to see you again, hopefully, it won't be the last time?" The Brigadier smiles "hopefully not, but retirement is getting near, so who knows, hey? Who knows?" The Doctor smiles at The Brigadier and he salutes him. The Brigadier then salutes The Doctor and then turns and smiles at Grace "it was nice to meet you too" Grace smiles "and you" The Brigadier smiles and then walks away from the two of them.

Grace looks at The Doctor and she smiles "Tardis?" The Doctor nods at her.

The Doctor and Grace walk up to the Tardis, The Doctor walks over and he puts his hand onto the door handle, but he then lets go and turns around, looking at Grace. Grace smiles "everything okay?" The Doctor shakes his head "not really" Grace stares at him "why?" The Doctor sighs "because...you can't come with me" Grace's face drops and she shakes her head "why not?" The Doctor says "there have been rumors going around the universe, a war is brewing, possibly one of the biggest wars that will ever happen, a Time War, it's getting closer, I can't put your life in danger for a war that you're not involved with, so you have to stay. I am so thankful for everything you did for me, when I first regenerated, even though you didn't trust me to begin with, you still helped me, you're the first face I met, so I trust that you'll live for me, live here for me" Grace looks at The Doctor "but I can't just go back to the hospital, I can't!" The Doctor nods at her "I know, that's why, when you went to the bathroom, I spoke to The Brigadier, he has a space for you in UNIT if you want it, helping to protect the planet from aliens. How about that?" Grace smiles "thank you" The Doctor nods at Grace "I really have to go, I have some goodbyes to do before the war" Grace nods at The Doctor "is this the last time I'm going to see you?" The Doctor nods at her "I'm afraid so" Grace nods at him "well then-". Grace leans in, hugging The Doctor, The Doctor then wraps his arms around Grace "thank you".

The Doctor then lets go and he smiles at her "goodbye Grace" Grace smiles "goodbye Mr. Smith".

The Doctor then walks over to the Tardis, pushes the door open and he walks inside.

The Doctor walks over to the console and he runs his hand along the console and he smiles "just a couple of more places to go, then it's all over for me".

The Doctor then puts his hand onto the lever and he pulls it.

Grace watches from outside at the Tardis dematerialises.

Next Time - The Ice Walls of Mars - The Tardis arrives during the early days of Mars where The Doctor and Rose find themselves as slaves for The Ice Warriors. The Doctor tries to form a plan but it could end horribly for The Ice Warriors. The Doctor gives them a chance to survive.
