Divinity | The Beginning

"Drake, your late."

I look up as the last member of the group arrives. 30 teenagers, all with no place to go, gathered into one location. I looked at everyone. Sarah was exploring the abandoned warehouse. Nick was talking to James and Jerry. Marone was working on the machine with Lassie. Norman was organizing the supplies and tools we pulled together for the trip.

Katie approaches me, "Hey Kanyon. How's the planning going?"

I sigh. "I'm not in charge of planning Katie, just in charge of keeping us safe when we transfer using the trans dimensional device."

"You must be planning something, I saw you messing with the Infinity Cores earlier!"

I take the thick disk from my pocket.

"The infinity core is in heavy development. This is a High Core, not a Infinity Core."

"Yea yea, what are you working on with it?"

I press the button on the middle of the disc, it starts to glow blue. In an instant my body is covered in blue light.

"Working on shields for us, after we activate the device we are going to end up in a random world in another dimensional. I want to make sure we have some sort of protection. I'm also working on a energy blade, so we have weapons."

Her eyes went wide. "You mean... we are going to have lightsabers?!"

"Not quite, But it will work similarly. Currently I only have this one working prototype."

I pull another disc from inside of the worn down jacket I was wearing.

"It's made using a Medium Core, but it does get the job done. " I press the button in the middle and the discs sides retract to make a handle, a arrow marks the exit point of the energy blade. I point away from Katie and apply pressure to the sides of the handle. The blade is pressure activated, a large beam of blue energy appears. Forming a giant cleaver sword.

"It's a bit too big in my opinion." I say.

"Amazing! It's so much cooler than a lightsaber!" - Katie.

Hmm, I guess size does matter? I release pressure on the handle, and the energy retracts. I hold it flat in my palm and press the button in the middle, putting it back into safe mode. Everyone's looking at us.

"Get back to work! We don't have long!" They get back to working on the machine. We have 5 hours until the military realizes that we raided their camp. So we are on a high speed schedule. We are certain that the machine will work, and we will leave this world. The world is a nice place and all, but it's very hard for people like us to get by, our families were killed in World War 3, our homes were destroyed. We lost the very government that we relied on in the first place. It was kinda hellish. Luckily we grew, we got stronger. We gathered. We tried helping other kids who survived the war, but they were dead. Any one not apart of the Empire or the Alliance would die if they are spotted. So we decided to leave this world. To escape.

We would stay in fight, use our genius skills to take on the Empire and the Alliance, but the war would deform this planet to a point where we couldn't live on it anymore. That's what led us to this point.

In order to get metals for the device we raided a Empire military construction base. Ow! Accidentally shocked myself. I really need to be more careful when experimenting with Core Tech.

Time passed, everyone worked silently. The planners, aka our tacticians made plans for whichever world we would end up in. The Engineers worked on the device. Me and the other technicians worked on the tech we would bring to the other world. Currently I'm organizing boxes though. Placing tech in the respective marked boxes.

We make sure to keep things organized. We even have food now cause our raid on the military MRE's. We are almost ready for the new world. The device is almost done.

More time passes.

It's done. We can hear the helicopters coming outside. We put already put everything in the loading zones we marked. We gather in the square we marked, all 30 of us. The machine turns on. Blue energy goes around each of the squares we marked, including us. A few seconds later everything goes black. Then there are trees.... green. Something a color we haven't seen in years.

We did it. We have come to a new world.
