10 Chapter 10: Zoe's Victory
Right after Zoe's name was called, a gentle resounded through Lucius' ears
"I will tell you the favor that I want from you after we have become a Divinity. Until then, please wait" Zoe said to Lucius with a smile on her face.
Lucius just nodded his head slightly in approval. He asked for a pen and paper from Zoe which she gave him.
Lucius began to note down something on the piece of paper, after he was done writing, he handed the piece of paper to her.
"That's the address to my home, you can find me there." Lucius pointed towards a corner where there wasn't around him.
"Very well then," Zoe said to Lucius, after that, she began to head towards the tester.
Lucius nodded his head slightly, then he started to walk towards the corner slowly. After walking for around a minute, he reached the corner then he sat down, and looked in front of him.
"I originally wanted to see how to create my unique summons using Lifeform Creation. However, for now, I have changed my mind.
I shall watch the battle between tester and students to gain some combat experience. I will watch Zoe's battle for now." Lucius thought to himself.
His attention was now completely focused on Zoe. As he looked at Zoe, the whispers of students also resounded through his ears.
"Wow, big sis Zoe is going to show off her skills. I wonder how long it will take to defeat the tester, "a youth said.
"I think at most she will take 15 minutes," Another youth exclaimed.
"I am sure that she will pass in under 10 minutes considering her talents," Another one said.
Lucius kept looking at Zoe as she was face-to-face with the tester.
"This is going to be interesting," Lucius thought to himself.
At the same time.
In the announcement platform, the three inspectors and the envoy were sitting. They were looking at Zoe with a clear interest in their eyes.
"Longan, who is that girl and what achievement has she made that everyone is calling her the prodigy of the kingdom." The envoy from the Divinity Kingdom asked.
When Logan heard that he revealed a smile on his face.
"I am glad that you asked," Longan replied.
He pointed towards Zoe and said.
"That girl you see there is named Zoe, she belongs to the branch of the Great Ice Clan.
She has learned the way of Ice element magic. At the tender age of 5, she gained the ability to control her mana.
By the age of 10, she had learned around 4 basic spells of ice magic that are Fog, Hail, Ice shots, and finally blizzard. She is 16 now, I believe by now, she must have learned a dozen or so spells" Longan declared, it was almost as if he was boosting his child.
On the other hand, Adrian and Miles were kind of embarrassed.
"It's obvious that there are much more talented people than Zoe in the other Kingdoms. Longan is boasting without any reason." Adrian whispered.
"I agree," Miles replied.
The envoy just nodded his head slightly when he heard that, he signaled the other to watch the battle. Everyone turned their attention towards Zoe.
On the battlefield.
Zoe quietly walked towards the tester who had called her. When she was a few meters away from the tester, she stopped walking. She scanned the tester from head to toe.
The tester was a woman who had long hair, she was wearing a one-piece, and she was around 5 feet 4 inches quite short. She had a beautiful face that was shining brightly.
The tester noticed her staring at him. The tester frowned.
"Hey there, stop staring at me and prepare for battle. You will get a chance to cast a spell without any hindrance. I will count from 3 to 0, the moment I say zero, you may cast your spell" The tester declared.
Zoe just nodded her head slightly, she waited for the tester to start counting. However, she didn't immediately start to count, this caused Zoe to frown.
"Before I start to count, there is something important I must do," The tester said to her.
The tester snapped her fingers, the moment she snapped her fingers then a red dome formed around them within a few seconds.
"There, now our attacks can't go outside. We can now start" The tester said.
The dome that formed around them is used to make sure that their attacks do not hit any other candidates or testers, since unlike Divine Warriors almost all the mages have ranged attacks.
Zoe just nodded her head when she saw the red dome surrounding them.
"I must try to keep as much distance as possible from her and try to hit her with ranged attacks.
I only know that she is an element mage. If only I knew what element can she control then my chances of victory would be much higher" Zoe thought to herself.
A powerful voice resounded through her ears, signaling her to start preparing for battle.
"3,2,..." The tester shouted as she began her countdown.
Zoe quickly put on a defensive stand, she also began to channel her mana uniquely.
"1 and start!!! You may cast any spells that you desire now. As promised, I will let you cast one spell without interfering" The tester declared.
Zoe didn't say anything as she was too busy casting a spell. Mana was gathering around her and a magic circle was forming on her hand.
"I hope that she doesn't foolishly cast a spell that won't be able to hit me. I have met a lot of seeds that do that" The tester mumbled as she waited for the completion of the spell.
A few seconds passed by like this.
"Done" Zoe exclaimed.
She raised her two hands, there was a blue-colored magic circle on each of her hands. She pointed her two hands right and left and respectively, then she shouted.
Everyone was puzzled about what she was trying to do until she did the unthinkable.
"Fog!!" Zoe shouted.
The dense white-colored fog released from her hand flowed through the entire place.
The entire dome was filled with dense smoke, slowly blocking the vision of the tester, this caused the tester to smile.
"You are not foolish like the others" The tester exclaimed, there was a smile on her face
Meanwhile, Lucius, who was watching the battle from afar, had different thoughts.
"Damn it, I can't see anything" Lucius exclaimed in frustration.
Lucius tried his best to see what was beyond the fog but even with his excellent eyesight, he couldn't see Zoe nor the tester.
Xin and Luca were also looking for her, who was standing not too far away from Lucius.
"I can't see her," Luca said.
"Same" Xin replied as he kept looking at the dome.
No one except the inspectors and the envoy could see her. After trying for a long time, Lucius shook his head as he couldn't spot anyone due to the fog.
"Forget it, there is no way I can see her in such a thick fog. Let's just watch the battle of other candidates to gain some combat experience" Lucius thought to himself.
A few minutes passed but he still didn't see Zoe even for once, just as he was about to turn around.
During the last few minutes, a loud sound had reached his ears more than once.
"I hope that she passes the first round" Lucius mumbled, his voice carrying nervousness
Just as he was praying earnestly for Zoe's Victory, the dome surrounding Zoe's battlefield started to disappear, the moment the dome started to disappear, fog spread throughout the entire place.
Everyone stared at the battlefield but he couldn't see anything because of the fog. Xin and Luca were especially nervous.
"I hope that she passed," Xin said.
"Of course, she has passed you idiot" Luca replied, his voice sounding angry.
Xin just nodded his head and stared at the dome-like countless other people.
"When will this fog…." A powerful voice interrupted Lucius who was about to speak.
"Candidate Zoe has passed the first round of the exams. She has successfully landed a hit on me" A powerful voice resounded through the entire place.
The fog that was blocking everyone's view now had completely cleared up. The moment it cleared up, countless people spotted two people beyond the fog.
The tester and Zoe were standing in front of each other, the tester was struck by a huge chunk of ice at her leg, and she was bleeding.
The floor was also frozen solid by ice.
However, she was standing firmly despite bleeding.
Zoe was smiling as she kept standing. Zoe's body was covered in bruises and was bleeding slightly from her palms.
"You may leave now," The tester said as she lowered her body and pulled out the piece of ice that struck her leg.
Zoe just nodded her head slightly and walked toward Luca, Xin, and the others.
Right after, she left the tester, looked at the list of names, and called the next candidate without delay.
The moment she started to walk away from the tester, the crowd began to enthusiastically talk about Zoe's fight.
"Even though I couldn't watch Zoe's battle properly. I can still stay, the battle was very epic" A youth exclaimed.
"I agree, "Another youth replied.
Zoe just ignored them and walked towards Luca and Xin. She had a chat with them for some time.
Lucius just stared at them as they talked with one another. There was a warm smile on his face as they watched them.
"I will now just watch the battle of others to gain combat experience." Lucius thought to himself.
As he was about to turn around, he saw Zoe staring at her.
"Now what does she want from me?" Lucius said with a frown on his face, he was irritated.
