Daniel heard a familiar mechanical voice ringing in his head as he opened the fragment box. He was puzzled as he saw the familiar crystal emitting an unusual energy. The energy was extremely complex to understand. It felt like something out of this world.

He decided to check the updated details on the soul fragment as notified by the system. He focused on the crystal and a holographic panel materialized before his eyes.

"Sigh… I hate mysteries." He sighed, looking at all the question marks. "Well, not like I can do anything about it for now…" He let go of all the questions in his head and closed his eyes momentarily, sucking in a deep breath.

"Nya!" Lumi yipped, waking up from her sleep. She looked puzzled, seeing her master not making any movements. 'Huh?! Humans also sleep while standing?!' She had a weird look on her face.

Daniel noticed her gentle voice and slowly opened his eyes. "Oh! You're awake." He gently caressed her head and patted the small dust particles off her fluffy fur.

"Ah right, I have to clear dungeons!" He suddenly recalled, thinking about money and treasures.

He already knew which dungeon he had to go to first. He had researched all the dungeons in Luminara on the forums. Opening the map, he marked a location. A golden line formed on the map, guiding him to the marked location.

"Time to go." With Lumi resting comfortably on his shoulder, he started walking towards the forest of whispers. "Maybe I can become a millionaire if I work harder." He mused, exhilarated at the thought.

As Daniel and Lumi entered the forest, they were greeted by an eerie silence. Tall and thick trees blocked out 80% of the sunlight. Daniel shuddered as he felt a chill run down his spine. It was as if a mysterious aura hung over the forest, inflicting fear on anyone who dared enter.

"Stay close, Lumi," he whispered, his hand hovering over his greatsword. "We don't know what kind of monsters we might encounter here." He slowly made his way to the dungeon. He kept his senses alert and his grip tight on his greatsword.

As he approached the dungeon entrance, he could hear the faint sound of creatures growling and snarling from within. With a deep breath, Daniel cracked his knuckles and stepped into the dungeon.

The darkness inside the dungeon was almost suffocating. Daniel had to rely on torch light to see where he was going. The growling and snarling sounds grew louder as he moved deeper.

*tap, tap*

Just as he was walking, a group of shadowy human-like creatures clad in armor appeared out of nowhere, blocking his way. One of them, the largest of the group, stepped forward and raised his sword towards Daniel.

Daniel tightened his grip on his greatsword and lowered his stance, preparing to face the creatures. He didn't dare take his eyes off the creatures before him.

On the other hand, Lumi glared at the shadow creatures. She was extremely hostile towards them. She leaped off from Daniel's shoulder, landing on a shadow knight's face. She cast her debuff on the group, making their luck points fall below 0.

"Nyaaw-!!" She cast a fireball spell straight on the shadow knight's face, sending it flying. The shadow knight's blue eyes turned grey. Daniel was amazed, witnessing Lumi's power level.

"Oh! Amazing, Lumi!" He shouted from behind, feeling proud of Lumi. "Heh, it's my time to shine now, or I might appear as a terrible master." He chuckled and rushed at the Shadow Knights. He swung his greatsword at the shadow creatures,

*Slash*

The knights fell on the ground, their eyes soon turning grey. They were creatures who didn't feel any pain and were lifeless puppets. Daniel knew that someone was controlling these shadows, but he had to make his way to the boss room first to find the person.

As one knight tried to attack his chest, Daniel kicked it and knocked it back. The knight fell on the ground, struggling to get up. Daniel took advantage of the moment and stabbed it in the head.

This battle was just as fierce as all the other battles Daniel had fought, but there was a slight difference this time. There was no blood splattered on the ground or any corpses this time. It was because the shadows faded away instead of leaving a corpse behind upon dying.

Lumi was enjoying her fight with the knights in the back. She was stopping them from getting close to Daniel, protecting him like a loyal soldier. (Now it's getting complicated to understand who's the servant and who's the master, right XD?)

Daniel gave a thumbs up to Lumi inside his heart. He focused on the strongest knight now that all the weaklings were dead. He prepared his skill [Knight's Charge], ready to strike the opponent.

The shadow knight was the same, it took a defensive stance and prepared to take the attack head-on. As the skill activated, Daniel smirked. This shadow knight was not like the others. It understood human emotions, gestures, and language. He was puzzled, seeing the smirk on Daniel's face. He tried to recall what he was missing.

Soon, Daniel's sword clashed with the shadow knight's, sending the knight flying onto the ground. Despite this fall, the knight didn't directly die, unlike the others. He got up from the ground, glaring at Daniel with murderous intent flowing out.

When he was about to make a move, A loud voice resounded in the cave. "Nyaa-!!" Lumi leaped above the knight's head, using her icicle spear to pierce his head.

*Gshh-!* The ice spear pierced through the knight's head, knocking him onto the ground. His eyes turned grey and his body faded away into the air.

"Master… I've failed you…" A few words left his mouth before he completely faded away into thin air.

Daniel heaved a sigh, patting Lumi for doing a great job in the battle. He was really happy, seeing her tremendous potential. "If she grows up like this, she'll surely become a god-level being someday!" Daniel thought to himself.

After a bit of rest, the two of them went deeper into the dungeon and headed to Area 2.
