Firstly, the game apparently had an independent leaderboard from the rest of the world. That is, the Top 100 Players on this server were different from the Top 100 Players worldwide.

Initially, Leo thought that since this server was smaller and the Top 100 was independent from the rest of the world, the level of skill on this server was probably lower than the open server, but Leo was shocked to find out he was wrong! As Leo watched a live match of the players on Ranking Challenger, he discovered that despite the server being smaller, the level of play of these players was very high! A minor mistake could be abused by the opposing team, which would cause the team to lose the round.
