29 Chapter 28

It was evening. The pale sun hanging above the skies slowly submerged itself out of sight. Its pale light preventing the abhorrent sea along with its pervert of a resident from coming out.

There. Out in the crimson forest teeming with dried-up trees and vines, in the seemingly endless expanse of the labyrinth. Stood a colossal statue of a knight in intricate armor, its height hundreds of meters high. It was gripping a sword with both of its hands, the sword, half the hight of the giant wielder, pierced through the ground. A large crater of destruction circling it, a sign of its action in the distant path still visible.

However, the knight with all its glory and power didn't have one thing….

A head.

It's head was cut cleanly. Leaving in its place, a smooth, wide surface of grey marble. Appearing perfect for hiding from the insidious, and abyss like sea.

To no one's surprise, the head was claimed by four people, more accurately, four sleepers. The shortest one of them with short black hair, black eyes stood in a corner. Swinging at the air with a sword in a practiced albeit amateurish way, probably due to his lack of knowledge or experience with the sword.

Oh, and he was also grumbling under his breath annoyingly.

In another side of the smooth surface, laid a white haired girl on her back. Her hair a complete contrast against the gradually darkening skies. Her clear grey eyes calm and nonchalant, locked onto the sun in a daze. With a juicy, tantalizing slab of white crab meat by the side of her head.

Oh, and she was secretly side-eying the last two residents, her eyes calm as ever. Her face as expressionless as one could be. As for what she was thinking? Nobody knew. Not now, and certainly not in the future.

As for the last two people. They were sitting on the edge of the statue, overlooking the bloody forest and the labyrinth. They too had some crab meat to the side. Both of them were swaying along with the wind that would flow by from time to time. The only ones looking happy beside the other two.

One of them. A man. With black hair that floated gently, his blue eyes holding a gentleness un-befitting of a man of his build and stature.

The other, a girl, who's currently contentedly munching on a piece of crab meat held out by the hand of the man. Her hair an ashy blonde, her pale blue eyes staring off into space, not focused on anything. A sign that something is wrong with her eyes. She was sitting in the lap of the man, her body being a significant ways smaller than the man's. However the contrast between them seemed unusual but refreshing at the same time.

The woman finished the piece of meat and gulped it down in one go, a bit of juice sticking to her lips, making them look supple and soft to the touch. She then turned her head around to look straight into the man's face, her lips dangerously close to his, her breath entwining with his in a sensational symphony.

"Ariel?"

"Yes?"

"I'm worried."

"About what?"

"The vision."

Ariel sighed, this was the twentieth time she has brought it up.

"Look, Cassie. Like I keep saying, don't let it dictate you life, make use of it, but don't let it affect your mind and consume it. I know you're strong. Well not at the moment, but you have the potential. I know it, no I can feel it."

"But I'm scared of what will happen."

"Yeah no shit. I'm scared too, do you think I don't overthink about stuff? Well then buckle up, you're in for a surprise. Because, hell. I don't know how you picture me in your head and all, but I'm very certain you think of me as a perfect specimen or something, right?"

Cassie looked down in shame, a red tint on the tip of her ear.

"How did you guess that?"

"I just did."

"That doesn't make sense."

"To you, I'm sure it doesn't."

A huff came out of her mouth in retaliation, she then crossed her arms beneath her bosom. Her lips morphing into a frustrated pout by the second.

Ariel cocked his eyebrow in amusement, her reactions clearly a good show to him.

"See? You totally forgot about the vision for a moment there. Did you not?"

Cassie's expression froze for a moment before it continued onto a full-on pout as she turned her head to the side, refusing to face Ariel head on.

"Well, you're right I guess."

Ariel grinned happily.

"Of course I am."

Now that I think about it, Cassie's mindset has always been like this in the story, always accepting of fate, thinking of it as an inevitable wall instead of an opportunity. To her, fate is the beginning and the end, breaking it is almost close to blasphemy. Or maybe because she had no way of defying it that she turned out the way she was in the story. To me she seemed miserable, hopeless. Like a bird without its wings. Her wings stolen and chained by fate, no longer able nor aspire to fly. Because that is her fate. Her story is just a prologue to another more important one in the vast tapestry of fate.

Ariel's blue eyes deepened, his irises shone brightly in the now dark expanse of the night at the thought of Cassie's situation.

Not with me here, no chance would I let her turn out like she was in the story. No fucking chance. Now that I'm here and I have the most broken ability in this world's history. The least I can do is to lead her onto a new and far, far better path, she deserves that much. I know I'm not perfect, and there's so much to learn about these two worlds. There's so much to learn about my aspect and the spell, I'm very sure there is some goddamned, impossible way to kill fate, and I'm gonna be the one to make it possible. while also leading Cassie into a very happy life.

Ariel continued feeding the meat patiently to the munching, hungry girl in his lap. His eyes taking on a sharper hue as the seconds went by.

Aside from all that bullshit. We decided to head out tomorrow, this time with no statue in sight, we would need to have some absurd luck, which I think is questionable due to Sunny's cursed [fated] attribute. So we're already at a big disadvantage, plus, the evolved carapace scavengers that I fought today hint at the possibility of us coming across more of them later on in the labyrinth. Which is not surprisingly also another problem. Of course not for me specifically, but for the others, if I want to progress deeper into the labyrinth at a fast pace, I will eventually leave them behind. I'm not a leader nor do I want to be one, becuase for one, I'm a lazy fucker, two, I don't want the responsibility that comes with being a leader. So I have to be sure that they can take care of themselves.

I'm not too worried, Sunny is a stubborn cockroach, Nephis is even more of a threat for nightmare creatures, she is basically a fucking killing machine. Sure she she doesn't have my [Adaptaion] and all. But I'm confident in her ability and wit. I know she's more sharper and cunning than me due to experience. A gap to which I cannot close just by adapting to it. So I'm pretty sure they'll be able to keep up with me.

As for Cassie...…

Well, she's useless.

Oof, that one made me feel really bad, but hey, what can I say. The truth's the truth.

Other than that, do I still have to go along with snatching the weaver's blood linage? Now that I have more time to think about it. Could it be that me not receiving a flaw at the end of my first nightmare was because of my immunity to fate? What if me having the [Anomaly] attribute made it so I don't exist in the eyes of weaver. Cassie said so herself. She said that she could at least see a blurry image of our futures except mine. Apparently when she 'looked' at me all she could see was the usual darkness, not a single chime from her aspect. I mean if that is true, then it all makes sense! The reason I don't have a flaw is because I'm not yet on the radar of the weaver, which is fate. A concept I'm immune to. It all works in symphony with each other. Maybe that's why the being who reincarnated me, accepted my wish of having no flaw.

Hmmm?

Wait....

Does that mean I wasted a fucking free wish?!

I did. I wasted a chance to get even more OP.

Man, fuck this shit. I got scammed.

Anyway, so now that I had this enlightenment, what do I do with it? Proceed with the plan? No. That's too risky, what if me getting near the damn egg that holds weaver's bloodline alerts it. If it's still alive. After all I'm not supposed to exist nor am I supposed to be there.

It's Sunny's fate to be there. It's his fate to inherit the bloodline linage. If I go there I'll ruin it all with my actions.

But…..

Isn't that a dumb but at the same time a good thing to happen to me?

Ariel narrowed his eyes. Getting deeper and deeper into his thoughts. He sat motionless with Cassie in his lap for a while.

The more he thought about it, the more his eyebrows furrowed.

I'll just wait before I decide. For now at least.

A/N: I know I'm a piece of shit. I know I'm a lazy fuck. I'm not saying to forgive me. Because I'm a lazy fuck. So pls don't expect too much from me, I also will upload a ch when I feel like it. So yes I do deserve a lot of hate. So send your power stones to other authors who are much better than me. I hope you like it. And pls give me an insight of my idea about fate and why Ariel didn't get a flaw.
