CHAPTER 2 - PART 2

Approaching the boss room marked a decisive turning point. Facing a rank D opponent, my new skill, "Divine Game," promised a significant strategic advantage. This duel would be the ultimate test of my recently expanded limits. At worst, I could always blend into invisibility, a safe refuge from the unknown.

The Lez'or, a golden giant lizard, was my intended opponent. Thomas, with his penchant for meticulous details, had briefed us: the creature, though peaceful in appearance, would defend its nest with blind fury. Its scales, an impenetrable fortification, and its claws, formidable natural weapons, were its only defenses. Beyond that, the creature's abilities were shrouded in mystery.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped through the majestic doors of the room. Inside, a spectacle of opulence awaited me. Mountains of glittering gold, jewels of a thousand reflections, and artifacts from ages past rested on pedestals of exquisite finesse. The walls, covered in narrative frescoes, told the rise and mysterious decline of a forgotten empire.

However, at the center of this wealth, sat not a Lez'or, but a Roiz'or, an unforeseen evolution of my initial adversary. This rank B creature, with an imposing stature and adorned with bright golden scales, embodied majesty and threat. Its eyes, like two amber gems, reflected ancient wisdom and boundless greed.

The visual harmony created by the play of light between the room's treasures and the brilliance of its guardian was enchantingly beautiful, transforming the space into a scene from a dream.

My entrance triggered a storm of rage in the Roiz'or's gaze. Its scales, once akin to jewels, pulsed with a threatening glow, heralding the awakening of its wrath. Descending from its throne with a royalty temporarily veiled by its fury, it let out a roar that shook the room's foundations.

Faced with this embodied fury, I did not hesitate to activate "Divine Game." My perception transformed, offering me a panoramic view of the room as if I were manipulating a camera in a video game, capable of zooming, moving bird's-eye view with supernatural precision. The Roiz'or, deprived of its target, scanned the surroundings, its rage pouring out in roars and frenetic strikes against the sumptuous decor.

Seizing this opportunity, I opened my inventory to deploy my chain ballista towers near the throne. Two shimmering flashes tore through the air, revealing dimensional windows from which the luminous outlines of the ballista towers emerged. The areas where they were placed seemed to fold, creating a fascinating spectacle of visual folds and refolds. The flashes turning into a momentary dazzle revealed a shimmering palette of ethereal glows, creating a complex fabric before the massive structures of the towers finally took shape.

Ten meters tall and crafted from robust stone, each stood majestically. At their summits, a giant, imposing, and intimidating ballista loomed over the horizon. With a thought, I targeted the enemy, and the ballistas turned towards their target. The Roiz'or, surprised by the event, took a few seconds to understand what had happened. Unfortunately for it, that's all my towers needed to discharge their lethal bolts. Like lightning bolts, the bolts hit their target almost instantly before metal chains emerged from nowhere to attach to each arrow and. The Roiz'or, in a rage, tried to break the bolts with its claws, but to no avail, the chains tightened to the extreme, immobilizing the creature. The two towers had reloaded in the meantime and fired again. With an arrow in each limb, the monster became a true target vulnerable to the merciless assaults that the ballista towers inflicted on it. It only took a few minutes for the Roiz'or to succumb to its injuries, with its body resembling more a porcupine than a lizard… Since the fight was over, I returned the towers to my inventory and deactivated my skill. I took the opportunity to loot the rest of the throne room as well as the corpse of the Roiz'or. It was probably worth a good fortune at the Etherials' exchange center. With that, I headed towards the portal after making sure I hadn't forgotten anything.

Exiting the room, I caught sight of the mysterious room and a discomfort seized me, the flow of bad memories was still fresh in my memory, forcing me to stop in my tracks, the time to focus on something else.

Once calmed, I resumed my path towards the exit…
