Chapter29-The Divine Fragment

"Gulp."

Jason, holding the Antiquity in his hands that was as thin as a card, couldn't help but swallow hard, marveling, "Is this what an epic-tier Antiquity looks like?"

"Though it lacks attribute enhancements, the amplification effect is intense!"

This Antiquity's effect extended to all soldiers with probability-based skills.

Currently, Jason didn't have any units in his arsenal whose primary combat effectiveness was based on chance-triggered abilities.

However, he had a mission related to the abduction of the lord's daughter of Losfall city, with the ultimate reward being a soldier whose damage relied on a passive skill triggered by chance.

Given that Jason's Underworld Baptism likely retained the original traits of a hidden unit during its evolution, the soldier he'd train and evolve after completing the mission would probably rely on chance-triggered abilities for output as well.

Combined with this epic-tier Antiquity, the benefits could be terrifying!

Not to mention, the two abilities that came with the Antiquity were formidable—one increased the output of dungeons, bosses, and monster dens, even offering the chance for rare rewards.

The value of this didn't need to be overstated.

Despite Jason's smooth sailing so far, thriving on "first kills" and their rewards, his progression would inevitably lead him into dungeons to farm for high-tier items.

With the passive effect [Gold Rush] of this epic Antiquity, who knew how much time and effort he'd save, significantly accelerating his development.

The last active skill, [Fate], was even more astonishing, with abilities like wide-range vision, teleportation, and even choosing drops directly from dungeon bosses.

Jason was ecstatic.

Firstly, the ability of [Fate] to reveal the entire map was immensely beneficial for combat.

The second ability, wide-range teleportation, allowed Jason to instantly relocate all his forces in tandem with [Realm of Heimdall], greatly enhancing the mobility of his army.

And the final ability of the skill, to select loot from bosses, dungeons, and monster dens at will, was nothing short of miraculous.

At this realization, Jason immediately began to make plans.

"I recall there's a special dungeon in Losfall rumored to drop a unique diamond-level weapon, but its drop rate is ridiculously low..."

"It's said to be the [Blade of Slaughter], rumored to drop as an easter egg with a chance of less than one in ten thousand."

"With this Antiquity's [Fate] skill, wouldn't I be guaranteed to get it?" Jason pondered, suddenly realizing the opportunity before him.

This was the greatest advantage of having memories from over twenty years in the past.

To others, even with this Antiquity in hand, they might be at a loss, uncertain of what [Fate] could possibly bring forth.

But Jason had a clear plan.

The [Blade of Slaughter] he had in mind came with a special effect: for each boss killed while equipped, it would accumulate a special Force of Slaughter.

When released all at once, each Force of Slaughter would inflict 0.5% of the target's maximum HP in damage, with the ability to accumulate up to twenty Forces of Slaughter, resulting in a one-time damage of 10% of the target's max HP.

It might not seem significant at first glance.

The bosses Jason could challenge now, though substantial in HP, wouldn't be significantly affected by a mere 10%.

And for those beyond his challenge, reducing their HP by 10% wouldn't make them any more beatable.

However, the [Blade of Slaughter] could indeed prove miraculous at times.

During the game's third event, [Divine Madness], a top-tier BOSS with an astronomical amount of HP would spawn.

Even with Jason's mighty forces, achieving sufficient output in a short time would be unlikely.

This meant that in the event, with all of Losfall's players attacking, Jason might not land the final blow, and thus, the boss's rewards would elude him.

But with the Blade of Slaughter, deducting 10% of HP directly, how could he not secure the kill?

As for how terrifying the event boss's rewards could be, Jason dared not even imagine.

The rewards from the previous life had never been disclosed; he only knew that several leaders of major guilds were assassinated in real life after securing the last hit on the boss.

But now, the rewards of Losfall city were destined for Jason, and since this city was the hardest in the beginner's area, the event boss's rewards would undoubtedly be of the highest tier.

After tallying the two rewards, Jason then turned his attention to selecting the last item— a class change item.

He had already made his choice earlier, the class change item [Godlike General (SSS)]...

This was the class of [Divine Emperor], one of the strongest in Everdawn and ranked among the top three on Earth.

Jason didn't know the specific attributes, but it was said that the [Godlike General] gained more additional attribute bonuses the more troops he commanded, perfectly suited to his talent [Undead Plague].

Finally, after some searching, Jason's breath halted abruptly.

"How could such an item appear?" His actions, even swifter than his thoughts, selected it instantly.

[You have obtained the special item [Divine Fragment].]

The next second, detailed information about the item flashed before Jason's eyes.

[Divine Fragment]

[Effect: Upon absorption, a nascent form of Divinity is formed within oneself, and the class system undergoes an irreversible change.]

[Description: In ages past, absorbing fragments of fallen gods' Godhood or Divinity was undoubtedly considered a great blasphemy, destined to invite divine retribution. Perhaps this was an unspoken consensus among the gods, to prevent powerful mortals from ascending to their ranks.]

The introduction was cryptic in meaning.

However, as a seasoned player, Jason knew that anything related to divine power in the game Divine Age was extraordinary.

He was also aware of the game's lore concerning the gods—Divinity, Godhood, and the [Divine Realm] were a trinity.

As heroes from another world, players could absorb fragments of the [Divine Realm] that fell to the ground after the gods' demise, establishing their nascent [Divine Realms].

But that was about it.

In Jason's memories of his past life, including those players from the centaur planet who attacked Earth, only possessed a [Divine Realm]

...

Seeing the words "nascent form of Divinity," he decisively chose to secure it.

As for the class change scroll?

Even without knowing the exact function of the [Divine Fragment], its value was undoubtedly much higher!

This was the reward that truly matched the magnitude of exploiting a bug in the Trial Ground!

Without hesitation, Jason took out the [Divine Fragment], an irregular object emitting a milky white glow.

He clapped his hands and used it directly.

Instantly, the Divine Fragment turned into a sphere of energy and surged into Jason's body.

The next second, he felt a continuous surge of icy air within him, as the Heart of Undead was reactivated.

"Holy shit!" Jason exclaimed.

He had been calm a moment before, but the next, he curled up like a cooked shrimp, clutching his stomach in agony, collapsing to the ground.

In theory, pain simulation in Divine Age was only 10% of the real sensation, but Jason felt as though his entire body was in a furnace.

It was unclear how much time passed before the sensation of being sliced by a thousand knives dissipated, leaving Jason nearly numb.

Fortunately, as he began to regain some semblance of spirit, a new notification panel appeared.

[Congratulations on successfully absorbing the Divine Fragment!]

[Your [Divine Realm] fragment has mutated due to the influence of an unknown energy.]

[Your class system has been disabled.]

[You have acquired a new system: Divinity.]

[Your Divinity has been formed: Lord of All Endings.]

What's this?

Jason was momentarily stunned.

In his more than twenty years in his past life, he hadn't acquired any significant information about Divinity.

"But 'Lord of All Endings' sounds pretty cool, doesn't it?" he remarked.

At the same time, his attribute panel automatically popped up.

[Smith]

[Level: 29]

[Divinity: Lord of All Endings]

[HP: 180,000]

[Attack Power: 8,500]

[Defense: 6,000]

[Magic Resistance: 6,000]

[Speed: 230]

Just the base attributes alone, without accounting for equipment bonuses, were outrageously high.

Eighteen thousand HP, eight thousand five hundred attack power, six thousand for both defenses!

"My heavens!"

Even with some mental preparation, Jason was still dumbfounded.

Setting everything else aside, the basic attribute bonuses alone had already surpassed those of an SSS-level class!

Not to mention, as Jason continued to read further, the two basic skills of his previous class had been changed.

[Shadow Realm Transit (formerly Featherfall)] - Upon activation, allows for a blink in any chosen direction—up, down, left, or right—eliminating all forces acting upon oneself.

This was an incredibly practical skill.

Jason could use it to teleport instantly, dodge attacks, counteract gravity during a fall, or nullify the force of an enemy's hit just as he was about to be sent flying.
