Card Trouble

Jim smiled to himself even as he entered the boutique. This was one of the rich boutiques in the city, or rather in this neighborhood and since he had not had the time to come around, this was the rather ebay time for him to take a peek into what they had. Maybe this time,he would find something which could strike his fancy.

He shook his head as he remembered how he had driven the vehicle away from Jonas, leaving the fellow with no other means but having to walk his way out. That is, if Jonas was already through with the case. It was afternoon already. And so, he supposed he should be through.

"Greetings sir, how can I help you?" The young man with a neat smile said to him.

He was wearing a rather fancy, two piece as he smiled. A pair of spectacles on his face. Rising from his seat, he got to where he was standing in no time, in a show of hospitality, welcoming him in with a slight bow.

There was no need for that. Jim cursed within his mind. He was only here to check what they had. It was called window shopping. No need for him to act all l formal like he was some king and they were here to serve him. If only the man knew that he was here for window shopping, then his attitude towards him would change.

But it could not be helped. The man did know a thing about the quality of suits that he had on.The one he was wearing even though he looked rather bland or attempted to look like some mysterious investigator, it still had an appeal.

"Hi. I am just here to check some suits. I suppose that would not be any trouble to you, otherwise,I could be on my way." he said to the man.

"Oh, not at all. You are very welcome to Style Up Boutique. We pride ourselves in the fact that we are the ones who clothe this neighborhood that you see now." The man said, with a slight bow.

Another of his theatrical, Jim could only smile bitterly.

he took a look around, noting the unisex clothings on the rails and the ones out there on statutes. They looked rather fancy. But Jim knew that anyone who could come here to spend more than once on a couple of clothing must really be someone that had a lot of fortune.

While he came from the Maxwell family and they were well to do, that did not mean he had the option of spending money anyhow he liked. At least, he didn't want to spend out of the family coffers, knowing fully well what that meant for him.

His father would rant him to death. Asking him why he was using the family fortune to satisfy himself when he could not be more productive in the force. In the force where he had not wanted to be, in the first place.

No, he would rather cut his coat to his size then give the man the satisfaction of having to grill him over.

His phone buzzed in his pocket, alerting his attention. He picked the phone out, his eyes narrowing at the identity if the caller. As expected, it was his friend, Jonas. Curious to know what was happening, he picked the call and then smirked, saying nothing.

"You MF!" Jonas cursed out first.

"You think that's the way you talk to me, eh? I thought we were good friends?"

"Ah, funny you have to remind me that we are good friends, otherwise why would you drive the vehicle away?" Jonas screeched in his ears.

"What? You did not seem to have a problem with that when I took the car." Jim nodded while walking around the store now, majestically.

"Oh, forgive me. You didn't give me the time to be displeased at you before you actually scuttled away. It's not fair. And then I guess that I was too eager to meet the owner of the house. Now that I am done, I just find that I am actually stuck here. And it is not funny." Jonas complained bitterly.

"You talk like you are stuck. Can't you call some Uber?" Jim replied to him as he shrugged. :Don't tell me you are broke now?"

"Are you fucking kidding me? I have a car and you took my car when I was too busy. You mofo." Jonas cursed out some more much to the amusement of Jom who simply chuckled, as he put his hand on a stand, browning through suit collections.

"You don't have to curse so much. If someone saw you, don't you think it would be unbecoming of a force man to be so cursing?" Jom taunted him.

"Like you care about all of that. You know what> I swear to god, I would make sure that your father knows your hobby that you do.I think that would be an even way for me to get back at you for making me walk all the way to the gates of the estate." Jonas threatened.

However, that did not go down well with Jim. His expression darkened almost immediately as he stopped browsing through. He straightened, inhaling as he held the phone tighter.

"Look, you know you cannot do that. That is not what we do."

"Oh wow. Because you are the one who drove my car and had me walk…" Jonas complained.

"Look, stop fussing so much. I am still in the estate here. I just stopped by the boutique and I think there might be some suit that you would like." Jim said with a smirk on his face.

"Are you bribing me?" Jonas asked tentatively.

Jim could only shake his head as he did not know how to respond to that. Initially, he had stopped here only to see that the boutique was right in a fancy neighborhood. He had not planned to do any shopping here. Simply because he didn't want to live above his means and having to incur his father's attention on him.

Now, because of the threat Jonas had stated, he had to go back on his word. If Jonas could mouth off to his father then, how much more would it be for him to easily drop the bombshell about him acting like a um to his father?

His father would be mad. Hell, his entire family would come crashing down on him like fiery beasts.

Especially his Auntie, the head of the Coast guard. She would have him spend the rest of his life over water and nothing anyone said or did would stop that. And that could not happen.

Better to buy Jonas' loyalty with something so huge he would be indebted to him forever.

"You want the record challenge cup suit or not? There are only like 50 versions of it produced every year and they are worth an estimate of 28 thousand dollars." Jom said to him.

"Ah…:'' Jonas appeared to be thinking, his words freezing on the tip of his tongue. And while that happened, Jim simply smiled, signaling to the attendant in the store to come over.

"Okay. where is this store located?" Jonas inhaled. "I am coming there."

"Style up. Use your maps, you dummy. Just don't tell Dad.`` Jim said, disconnecting the call with a sigh.

"Sir, you called?"

"Yes, pick up two challenge suits for me." Jim said. "Here is my card."

The man nodded to him, gesturing to a younger looking lady to come pack them up. While she was doing that, he went with Jim's card to the counter. And then began to click some buttons.

A short while later, he looked up, his eyebrows knuckled.

"Uh… Hello, sir. Your card declined."

Lol! The dreaded words.

Your card declined. I am so eager to know wah next
