- Rich Lady's first servant (2)

A baby's soft and pure giggles filled the parlour. Each elf looked over and revealed an affectionate expression. Even if Adelynn's new grandparents and uncles were meeting her for the first time today, their love for her was already overwhelming. A simple giggle was enough to garner their attention.

The only one not caring about the desperate giggles from the baby was Laas.

Laas wanted to play with her mentor's bracelet until they return home but was shocked silly to hear the conversation he just had. Her mentor was leaving her in the care of a stranger and his infant?

With how quickly the topic passed, she didn't have a single moment to complain or resist. It finally became quiet, but then Adelynn was tickled and didn't hold back her laughs. The situation in the room was warm and fuzzy; Laas didn't want to be a child that ruins moods...

She could only bite her cheeks and secretly punch Jove's legs.

Jove felt the little punches and glanced down at the agitated child, then followed her glaring eyes to the precious baby. He seemed to understand.

He cleared his throat before speaking. "Now, family, let's not sit around all morning. Have your gardens been trimmed?" He slowly stood from the chair, then inquired to Bodie.

Bodie stood up as well as he nodded his head. "Yes. Do you suggest a stroll?" He questioned. With a slight confirmation from Jove, Mr.Tayan stretched his aged bones.

"A walk would be nice on a lovely day like today." He swiftly sat up and turned towards Ms.Tayan, holding out a slender hand for her to grab.

With Adelynn cradled warmly in an arm, she happily did.

"Mother, Addilyn is too young to go in the gardens. Leave her with Laas." Jove suggested, seeing Ms.Tayan attempting to cover Adelynn in her warm shawl in case of a chill outside.

Adelynn wondered if elven babies had that kind of sensitivity? However, it was a short-lived curiosity, as she lost interest.

Meanwhile, Laas was poorly masking her annoyance. Everyone—besides Jove—could tell the young child didn't want to babysit while they had their grown-up talks, but they collectively dismissed her.

"This will allow Addilyn to get used to Laas's face," Jove added. Bodie nodded to show his agreement. As Jove pealed Laas off of him, her resisting grip rather strong due to their magical differences, Adelynn was carefully being handed over.

Bodie accepted Adelynn back into his arms...

Jove looked at Laas sternly after realizing he couldn't detach her, and under his gaze, she quickly loosed her grip.

After a faint sigh, he swept a glance around the room, then concluded with a few words. "We must leave in a few hours; let's make this outing quick! Laas is a little unprepared, we'll return in a week with her things."

He adjusted his outfit, which was similar to Orfero's in the way both were bland. Then, he headed to the entrance Bodie and Adelynn previously came through. Orfeo followed two steps behind, and Mr.Tayan and Ms.Tayan followed with their arms hooked.

Bodie hummed to acknowledge his brother-in-law's words, smiling down at Adelynn.

She didn't return the smile, of course. She promised she'd behave well, no crying, whining, or wailing; however, that doesn't mean he could leave her alone.

That wasn't even the true problem. It's that he was leaving her in the care of a child who still counted as a toddler!

She pouted her lips, furrowed her brows, and struggled in his arms; she was against this arrangement! She couldn't care less if the child stays with them, but only with adult supervision.

Bodie remained smiling, but it became somewhat apologetic. So, he was aware both of them were unwilling?

He walked close to Laas and bent on one knee to hand over Adelynn. As he did so, he address the house staff inside the room, all there in case the family wanted particular snacks, though they barely touched a thing.

"Watch her, I will be back shortly." His order was referring to Adelynn. A second later he was following the adults out of the room.

Just like that, it became quiet.

Adelynn stared at Laas and Laas stared at Adelynn.

***

It has been 4 hours since Bodie took the others to the garden.

Adelynn always felt she was "decent" with kids; not good, but not bad. She hated when they were loud, messy, or complained, which left her with few children to love.

Her nephews and nieces were those few. They were as quiet as mice around her, clean, and content. Babysitting was always peaceful.

From what Adelynn observed, she thought Laas would be a quiet kid that keeps to herself as well. Surprisingly, she was wrong.

Shortly after Bodie left, Adelynn's maids came to retrieve them and returned to her bedroom. Being a baby, she could easily sleep until Bodie returns, but Laas was not the same. To please her, Mia and Mya brought out big toys and started playing theatrical games for nearly 4 hours.

At first, Laas was a little grumpy and shy. However, the second Mya pulled out a 3-foot toy bunny—it looked like a bunny, minus the sharp ears and polka dot "skin" —her eyes went wide, and a story wrote itself.

She turned out to be the kind of kid who likes acting out elaborate play-like games. Unlike the 'prince saves the princess' games Adelynn played when she was young, Lass was more 'the dishonored 3rd son of the king was determined to prove his worth by facing the 3-headed dragon tyrant in a faraway land. After success, he falls in love with a dragon princess and captures her heart, uniting his kingdom and her's under marriage.'

Adelynn only thought of how exhausting it must be to add so much to something so simple.

In the first game, Ms.Laas(Laas) was abducted by A and was leaving notes as they went to different locations, trying to smuggle her out of the kingdom(bedroom).

Adelynn was introduced in the story as "A", an 'innocent-looking baby who has the mind of an evil adult' and sells humans as workers. A's sidekick was Ms.Bunny, the bunny toy.

Despite the irony of it, Adelynn didn't find the first game very fun.

Laas wrote all the clues and orchestrated most scenes, the maids just complied to whatever. However, she, Adelynn, could do nothing!

Furthermore, the child was too theatrical; The story was active, with her maids, playing knights following the clues, showing the same vigor. She truly acted as though she was being kidnapped, even if by a year-old baby and stuffed toy.

The duration made things worse; That game took an hour and a half by itself!

'The worst part was the ending.' Adelynn lamented.

Ms.Bunny felt sympathy for Ms.Laas, who was chained after A found out she was leaving clues. So, Ms.Bunny freed her and revealed A to the knights! Ms.Bunny was redeemed, and A, her, Adelynn, was put to death!

What kind of outcome is that? Why did she have to die?

After that first game, Adelynn wept for another half hour. Not being able to do anything during the biased game must have stressed her out—That's her reasoning.

After settling down Adelynn with food, Laas rushed the maids into playing another game.

This time Ms.Laas was a single noblewoman with a baby, "Addy." She used a rather comfortable toy stroller to push "Addy" around the room, like going through the market. Adelynn's role was "a baby attracted to shiny things finds a shiny magic thing."

Throughout the whole game, she reminisced about a movie from her past life with a similar "plot." It was named "Ritchie", which was also the name of the main character. Although not one of her favorite childhood movies, her elder sister, Cheryl Gold, absolutely loved it. Anytime she was allowed to pick a show, it was Ritchie.

Ritchie was like Addy: a baby who likes shiny things. When his parents traveled from a barren planet to a high-tech planet, they were too poor to even afford the most poverty-stricken neighborhoods. That's when a young Ritchie gets lost in a busy market and teaches himself to steal shiny things, all of which had value.

For years Ritchie collects enough for his parents to buy identification and start working. He can stop stealing, but he doesn't. One day, while scavenging the market, he finds a magic shiny thing.

After he cleans it at home, smoke comes out and the apartment turns into a palace!

In front of him are two genies who always bicker. Each can give him three wishes.

In the same way, after "Addy" found a magic shiny thing, two genies, Mia and Mya, popped out. Ms.Laas used her first wish to get a palace full of servants(toys). The "palace" was a blanket fort the three constructed. Ms.Laas's next wish in the game was to be a brilliant magician. A good few minutes were spent pretending to use magic and getting an award from the king (bunny), as a strong ally.

Ritchie from the movie didn't have any education, so his first two wishes were simple: To be able to read anything he sees, and be the smartest person his age.

At this point in the movie and game, the main character had to see how their wishes affected their life.

Based on what Adelynn cared to remember: Ritchie explored the palace area until the halfway point of the movie when he finds out he was in a different realm the whole time.

His wishes could only last in that realm, and only he could be there. His parents were in their world, their son simply disappearing one day. However, in that realm, with the genies by his side, citizens praised him as a dark magician.

The antagonist was one of the genies, who almost tricked Ritchie into embracing his new reputation and becoming a tyrant of the realm with them as his secondhand.

He used 3 more wishes in the process. Until finally, the good genie showed him his parents' situation in his world. They were terrified and worried, which convinced him to go home to them.

In the end, Ritchie was left with one wish and two options. He could either use his wish to free the foreign realm from the antagonist genie, who he used previous wishes to empower. Or, he could use his wish to return home, leaving the realm to the genie's mercy.

The end of the movie was the best part for Adelynn and Cheryl, specifically for his decision.

What was his decision?

Well, it's the same thing the sisters would've chosen if they were in his shoes. It was also the same thing Laas chose in her game.

In the game, after wishing for a palace and magician status, the game was made up of Ms.Laas making her life better and better. She was getting everything she wished and lived every day in bliss. Then, she accidentally wished her baby away!

Now, they were in different worlds. None of her newfound magic could bring the child back. It turned out, by using her wishes to be famous, the genies became stronger too. They learned to grant each other's wishes!

Genie Mya's wishes were very chaotic. Strong monsters (more toys) kept popping up and wreaking havoc, who only Ms.Laas was strong enough to defeat. When she did, she was more famous, and they were more powerful.

The whole room was slowly destroyed, til only the blanket fort stood tall.

Every citizen, even the royals, looked to Ms.Laas to help. At this moment in the game, genie Mia came over with great news. She discovered a way to get to Addy! To do so, Ms.Laas would have to use her last wish and go to the other world.

In both "plots", Ritchie and Laas chose to abandon the worlds to destruction to return to their families.

Ritchie didn't think at all before making his final wish to return home to his parents. The consequence of his decision showed after the credits; The realm became a barren planet, no life remaining.

Ms.Laas stressed long and hard before her and genie Mia did a spell to contain genie Mya, then she left her world to embrace a new one.

There were a lot of differences, but Adelynn still reminisced. The last time she watched Ritchie was nearly 7 years ago, and by pure coincidence. It was aired at an event and, well, that was it.

Adelynn completely agreed to Ritchie's decision. After all, why should he put others before his family?

Plenty of people considered his actions selfish, and they were, but they were also acceptable. The lives of millions cannot compare to the lives of your own family, the people you love and trust most.

Adelynn believed this. She didn't show much love for her siblings, which she now reflects on every few days, but her feelings don't change. If it was her choice, she would still be in her world; still with her father, Cheryl, and Ron; all of them.

If the spirit had given her the choice—Destroy the population of several planets to return to her life, or reincarnate to start anew—she would've chosen to return. It couldn't possibly be that hard of a decision.

Sadly, that was not a choice given. She would never see her father or siblings again, ever.

Adelynn attracted the attention of her maids again once the game was over and cleanup was started. She didn't start crying, or whining, but she showed a constipated face.

Another embarrassing thing about being a baby is: crapping yourself because you're uneasy!

It only took a brief moment for her to be taken care of. Once she and Mia returned, they found Laas and Mya playing another. calmer looking, game.

Two hours and thirty minutes passed at this point. Adelynn was boring bored of watching these games; her two parts had little to nothing to do with anything. What was even the point of involving her?

Luckily, she wasn't forced to participate this time.

Mia put her in her crib, tucked her under a blanket, then went away to play.

Adelynn thought about paying attention to what they were doing but decided not to. It was a more tame game by the sounds she heard. A bit of talking; whispering like gossipmongers. She noticed the clanking of tableware, so they were probably playing some teatime scenario.

Either way, it was already time for her afternoon nap. The magic from for the morning, short conversation, and hour-long games tired her out. Not to mention the vague uneasiness sitting in her heart.

Adelynn closed her eyes and soon fell asleep.

***

Games were stilled played while the baby slept, but nothing she would've been interested in. By the time Laas finally tired herself out 4 hours had passed and Mia and Mya were trying not to look too exhausted.

Would Adelynn be this playful when she's around Laas's age?

It was a question that put a smile on their face. Imagining the child in older years brought them a warm feeling.

As if it was pre-planned, Bodie showed up as soon as the last game's cleanup was done.

He strode in with searching eyes, then relaxed when he saw Adelynn peacefully asleep.

The doctor's magic hadn't worn off in the least. She looked like the pure elven child she should be. Her small head looked as soft as jelly, with skin matching his own. Her eyes were pointed and slightly curved, a rare trait seen in few elves.

Bodie briefly smiled, then drew his eyes to the others in the room; Laas was sound asleep on Mya's lap, and Mia was also admiring Bodie's and Emil's genes.

He walked over to Mya and picked up Laas as he asked. "How was she?"

"Good. Ms.Laas is spirited and tame. She's very intelligent and friendly." Mia replied with a soft tone and a slight smile.

Bodie put her legs around his waist and laid her head on his shoulder. He hummed, then asked. "A sense of duty?"

Mia nodded.

With that, he left. Laas was returned to the arms of her mentor and everyone could only sigh that Adelynn was already asleep. In a few minutes, they rode off.

Gonna try to make an upload schedule to get new chapters out timely. Thanks for reading thus far! Keep going, this is still kind of the prologue :D
