164 In Her Arms

He opened the door slowly, his heart flailing as he did. He could taste fear in all of its acidity, the sourness burned at the back of Nicolás's throat and he felt every part of him hold stiffly.

Her eyes were wide with fear and unshed tears when he swung the door to reveal her. She fell into him, clutching him tightly.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She repeated over and over again.

Nicolás's hands laid limply by his side. He still was engulfed in shock but when she freed him slightly, he managed to utter. "What did you just say?"

She pulled away from him, her eyes looking up at him, tears pouring from them.

"I am sorry that happened to you, Nicolás." 

He wasn't dreaming.

He hadn't imagined it. This was happening.

"What do you know?" He asked sharply, taking a step away from her. He saw her flinch at his words but he didn't care.
