Pov change:

After I left the boy the rest of his daily training, I went to my hotel. I was waiting for Tengu to contact me on what he found about the Fungus clan. I started to cultivate while I waited for him.

After some minutes, I finally heard a knock on my hotel door.

"Hello Mr. Tengu. Did you find information on what I was looking for?", I greeted him.

"So you already found out my surname? Quite impressive!", he said with a smirk. I watched as he started to lay across my bed. He was definitely an ill mattered guest.

"From what I could find, the Fungus faction was just another random evil cult bent over reviving their dark overlord. The ones you find anywhere. But there was one peculiarity with them. They completely disappeared! They only made a public attack a few years ago, but they were never seen again. I even contacted some individuals from the royal family, but they haven't heard of the faction either", he stated.

This was truly weird. If they completely disappeared, they definitely had some government help. When I was president, I had to hide some of the more dirty secrets of my country. There's no way that not even the government knows what happened to them. If they have help from this city's government it's going to be even more troublesome.

"And even weirder was the fact that they stole. Normally, when evil cults want to revive their gods, they always use human sacrifices. Instead, these cultists stole treasures that they plundered. And the last thing I found out is that their god grants them the ability of fungi itself", he finally finished.

An impossible, but entirely possible, theory formed in my head. All of this was too much of a coincidence. Could they also have a wish token too?! Was it a coincidence that the boy I met in the contest also found me? I don't know if I should regret killing him.

If the Fungus faction really did make a wish to revive their god with the same token I have, then wouldn't they want to steal mine? This was becoming more troublesome. I know that I'll keep getting attacked even more fiercer and fiercer. Especially now that they probably know someone has been searching for them.

"Are you gonna say something? Mister, 'I never want to tell my name'?", he said sarcastically.

"You may call me Valentine. And know that you're involved with this matter I guess I'll tell you. The fungus has attacked me because they view me as a threat, since I have a dangerous special ability. I'm guessing you already saw it?", I explained.

"Of course I saw it!", he screamed with excitement. "It was incredible! How were you able to do such things?!", he asked.

"This is called a stand", I said as D4C appeared behind me. "That's all I can tell you for now. Who knows who else could be listening?"

It seems that even though he acts like a fool, he's very adaptable. He immediately understood that spies could be all around us.

"I won't tell you my true intentions for now, but I can still use your help", I said. I realized that I needed a fast weapon that I was used to. I completely forgot about the sword in my fight.

"I need you to find me a fairly skilled blacksmith for me, and I also need you to teach one of my subordinates how to cultivate properly", I ordered.

"Geez you're needy. I'll go find the blacksmith, but I'm not that great of a teacher. Well, you better tell me more about your 'ability' next time", he said.

He finally left to finish his task. I bought some ink and paper so that I could sketch what I wanted the blacksmith to build. It was a simple revolver. I will try to replace the gunpowder with qi. I will probably have to test it though. I knew that gunpowder existed in the world, but normal guns wouldn't help me.

This was also a chance to teach my subordinate how to wield a gun. He definitely needed an edge over the rest of the cultivators. For now, I am going to continue our daily training. I used D4C to head back once again.

Once I went back to the forest, there was a trail of destruction leading deeper into the forest. Had the Fungus faction decided to attack my subordinate or use him as a hostage? Too bad I don't really need the boy.

As I followed the trail of what appears to be acid, I found the end results of the battle that had taken place. Next to a pond laid the boy and what seems to be his attacker. To my shock, the attacker was dead, while my subordinate was slightly breathing on the ground.

His shoulder seemed to be ready to fall off from his arm, and he had burn marks all over his arm. Despite this, the boy was still fighting to survive. At least he was reliable enough to beat an opponent. Of course I was downplaying his achievements. I could imagine how much of a better pawn I could make him.

I remember seeing a lot of people in the city offering their service as doctors. Their expensive prices didn't matter much to me. What I needed was a skilled doctor. I used D4C to take my injured subordinate to the doctor I felt that had the most qi.

I walked up to the receptionist and said, "When is this doctor available?".

"My brother should be done in about 5 minutes. What do you need him for?', she calmly answered.

I showed her the broken body of the boy I had in my arms. Then I calmly walked to the seats they had while dragging the boy behind me.

"What are you doing!? That kid needs to get attention fast!", she started to panic.

"I'm sorry, but I insist on waiting for the doctor. It would be rude to disrupt him at work", I refused.

She started to argue with me about the needs kids needed, and how gaining such a beating could cause problems in their whole entire life. She only stopped talking when the doctor showed up.

"Hey what is all this ruckus?", he wondered.

"Quick, this boy needs urgent care! He has multiple burns, broken bones, and his qi is depleted!", she quickly said.

It seems like she really cares about kids. She didn't even stop to question me, as she ran towards the emergency room. The doctor sighed and went after her. If the child's cultivation got hurt, then I might consider killing him. I believed in him though.

After a few hours, the doctor finally came out again.

"You're lucky he's alive. I can't deny that the boy's amazing willpower made this easier than it would've been", he said.

"Can I meet with him?", I asked.

He signalled me to follow him. I entered a white room, where I could see the child laying on a bed. What surprised me was the fact that only his shoulder had any signs of injury. I guess the 20 gold coins I wasted in this came out as a worthy investment.

After some talking with the Doctor, and his receptionist telling me I'm awful for letting him be like that, I could finally take him home. I decided to let him sleep in my hotel room, as it would be easier to recover there.

As I placed him on the bed, I heard him mumble something quite reluctantly. It seems like he's adjusting to this life a bit more. He never uttered that word to me no matter how I treated him, but today he finally said it.

"A simple 'Thank you' would have sufficed, but your welcome", I said quietly.
