A new arrival to a lost world

On a quiet afternoon over the open water of the Pacific Northwest, the sun shines ever brightly over the splashing waves of the vast blue ocean. So far, everything has felt calm and tranquil. Especially for the local seagulls, as they fly across the waves in search of food. However, this tranquility was suddenly interrupted as something swooped down…causing the gulls to scatter and disperse. Sure enough, the creature swooped down into the water and flew back up with the fish it caught. Now this creature was not a bird even though it can fly, nor is it a bat despite the fact its wing is a tan-colored skin membrane. The creature is a kind of flying reptile called Pteranodon (Teh-ran-oh-don), a creature that is supposed to be extinct for millions of years. The fur-like filaments are black blue in coloration, while the bare scaly skin of its hands, feet, and underbelly are yellow. The beak of the flying reptile is yellowish as well, while its eyes are aqua-green. But the most unique part of the Pteranodon is its yellow vertical crest with a broad forward projection which means that this individual is an adult male. Once it caught its fish, the flying reptile proceeded to fly back with the catch to eat. Sure enough, the prehistoric creature came upon its primary habitat. It is large, with a tremendous variety of ecosystems. With vast primeval forests in the west, sparse plains, and fern prairies in the north, and dry canyon regions in the east. Welcome to DinoIsle, a land still ruled by the mighty Dinosaur! Within this primordial paradise, many diverse kinds of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures continue to roam and flourish even though the world they once knew has already gone by. Now among the variety of dinosaurs of every shape and size, lives one little dinosaur with a tremendous heart. His name is Parker, and he is a kind of bipedal plant-eating dinosaur called a Parksosaurus (Parks-o-sore-us). This little dinosaur has a mostly yellowish-green coloration to his scaly skin, with a splash of sky blue for his underbelly, rows of spines from his head to his tail, beak, and even his eyes are sky blue. The one thing that truly stands out for this herbivore is his attire, consisting of a blue denim vest and a vermillion neckerchief that adorns his neck. Now on this peaceful afternoon across the cedar swamp, Parker the Parksosaurus was enjoying a peaceful stroll while he hummed a little tune along the way. However, the little dinosaur would soon be caught by surprise when he sees something strange at a local cove at the edge of the swamp.

"What in the Mesozoic is that?!" Parker wondered curiously. "It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen around here in DinoIsle."

Feeling curious, Parker decided to head towards the cove to get a better look. As he did, the little dinosaur was surprised by what he was seeing in front of him. The creature in question was taller than him at "5'2" feet in height, and around 103 pounds in weight. It was a peculiar sight to say the least. It was a petite creature, with fair-skin coloration, a doll-like complexion, reddish pink colored lips, and black-blue wavy hair. As Parker examined the unconscious creature, the little dinosaur noticed that it was wearing a plastic purple headband on her head, a blue amber necklace, a bluish-purple tank top with a blue jacket rolled up at the elbows, light blue shorts with a purple sash belt, and bluish-purple shoes with silver buckles. Now clearly, the little dinosaur has never seen a creature like this before. Yet the scent it gave off indicated to the little dinosaur that the creature was a kind of mammal.

"Now this is a first for me," Parker admitted. "For there are no mammals that I know of that could reach the size of certain dinosaurs around here."

After examining the creature for quite a while, the little dinosaur understood that it requires some help. So gently and steadily, Parker lifted the creature as quietly as he could. Now despite the large mammal being taller than him, Parker had little trouble carrying the creature…thanks in part to his saurian strength. Without haste, the little dinosaur took the unconscious creature straight home to his hollow tree which is near to the center of the island. Parker's home may be a humble little sequoia tree, yet to a little dinosaur-like Parker this hollow tree is one of the best kinds of homes he can have.

"Huh," Parker sighed upon seeing his little hollow tree. "It's Jurassic Fantastic to finally be home!"

The little dinosaur carried his burden straight inside the sequoia and gently placed her down on a wooden sofa covered in vegetation as a cushioning. Once he saw that the unconscious mammal was lying peacefully on the sofa, Parker proceeded to head into the kitchen to find something for him and his guest to eat. Just as the little dinosaur walked into the kitchen, the unconscious creature suddenly began to stir as it slowly opened its eyes which are a beautiful light blue color.

"W…what happened?" the creature wondered as it sat up on the sofa it was laying on.

As she looked around at her surroundings, the creature noticed that the room she was inside appeared to be a mixture of makeshift and archaic in design. Such as the dining room table made of a stone flat surface with solid wooden legs for support. As she wandered around the living room, the strange creature failed to notice as Parker reentered the room with a stone bowl filled with hazel nuts and edible juniper berries.

"Oh, you're finally awake," Parker smiled in relief. "I wasn't sure when or if you were finally going to stir."

Upon seeing the little dinosaur, the creature gasped in shock and fear before proceeding to hide behind the sofa. Seeing how frightened the creature was of him, Parker knew that he had to assure it that he was not a threat. So, the little dinosaur proceeded to introduce himself.

"I'm sorry if I startled you," Parker said to the frightened creature. "I saw that you were knocked out on Saurus Shores, so I thought I should try and help you out."

While a bit shocked to hear the little dinosaur speaking to her, the creature suddenly understood that Parker meant no harm and decided to walk up to the friendly saurian.

"That's alright," the creature assured Parker. "I guess I was a little startled by seeing a creature like you around here."

"That's a relief to hear," Parker smiled as he decided to introduce himself. "My name is Parker, and I am a type of plant-eating dinosaur called a Parksosaurus. Do you have a name by any chance?"

"I…. do not know," the mysterious creature realized. "For some reason, I can't seem to remember much of anything at all."

"Oh fossils, that's not good to hear," the little dinosaur said astonished. "Do you at least know what you are? The smell you have tells me that you're a type of mammal, though I've never seen a mammal of your stature before around DinoIsle."

"I believe I can answer that," the creature understood. "I am something called a human being, which is indeed a type of mammal-like you've guessed."

"A human being huh," Parker replied in understanding. "At least now I know what species you are, now if only there was a way to figure out precisely who you are."

"I know," the young human sighed. "If only there was a way, I can figure out who I am and even where I come from."

"Then maybe until we can find out more about you," Parker suggested. "How about we give you a temporary name, so we know who to call you."

"That sounds like a good idea," the young creature shrugged. "Though what name should we use."

"How about…," the little dinosaur proceeded to say when he remembered the blue necklace adorned on the young lady's neck. "Amber! How about Amber for a name."

"Why…that's perfect!" The creature smiled. "Amber sounds like a wonderful name to use."

"Alright then Amber," Parker chuckled. "Now we have that settled, how about I show you around DinoIsle for a bit?"

"You mean spending time with a dinosaur?" Amber said in astonishment. "I don't want to be of any trouble for you."

"Relax, it's the least I can do," assured Parker. "When you're ready, we can head out so I can show you around the island."

Amazed by Parker's willingness to show her around, Amber proceeded to follow Parker as their adventure across DinoIsle begins. As they journeyed through a conifer and cycad forest, Parker and Amber came upon a stream flowing with cool and refreshing water.

"Looks like a good place to relax for a bit before we continue," Parker suggested.

"Well, I am feeling a little thirsty," Amber agreed with the little dinosaur. "So, I guess a quick drink wouldn't hurt."

So, the pair proceeded to drink from the stream before looking for a quiet area to relax as their trek continued. As they rested, Parker and Amber noticed several other dinosaurs gathered on the other side of the stream to drink and feed. Among them are a flock of swift and agile Dryosaurus (Dry-o-sore-us) which have a teal-colored scaly skin with brown spots and a faded blue on the face (though the females in the flock were smaller and a duller green color with no faded blue on the face). The nimble bipedal dinosaur drinks closely by the plated and spike-tailed Stegosaurus (Steg-oh-sore-us), which has greyish coloration with purple markings on the top of the back. The plates themselves were black with a purple horizontal stripe. Further down by the conifer trees, came the gigantic and long-necked Brontosaurus (Bron-toe-sor-us) who comes to drink and feed from the nearby cedar trees. The mighty herbivore has yellow skin with brown stripes and dark tan on its underbelly and portions of its face.

"Wow," Amber said in amazement. "I haven't seen anything so remarkable in my entire life."

"I'm guessing you don't have many dinosaurs where you're possibly from," Parker assumed.

"Not unless birds count as a kind of dinosaur," Amber admitted.

"I'm certain that they do," Parker replied with a chuckle.

Sure enough, Parker and Amber found themselves laughing as they waited by their side of the stream. Then out of nowhere, a small blue and red feathered proto-bird with a green scarf called an Avisaurus (A-ve-sor-us) swooped around. This is one of Parker's good friends named Flap, who is busy trying to catch a hovering dragonfly.

"Hello delicious," Flap said eagerly. "Time for me to eat!"

Just before he could catch the insect, the dragonfly was caught by the quick tongue of a nearby frog while the hapless proto bird crashed into the water. After eating the insect, the frog let out a croak before hopping away from Flap who is soaking wet.

"Maybe I should just settle for frog legs instead," Flap sighed before getting out of the water to dry his feathers.

Afterward, Flap flew up to a branch where he noticed Parker as the little dinosaur happily waved to him.

"Hey there Flap," Parker greeted his feathered friend.

"Hi Parker," Flap replied. "What's happening my down to Earth buddy?"

"I am helping a new friend," Parker replied as he introduced Amber to the Avisaurus. "Her name is Amber, and I am showing her around DinoIsle."

"It's a pleasure to meet you," Amber said to the Proto bird.

"Likewise, kiddo," replied Flap. "Would you two minds if I tag along, this stream is short on insects today."

"I don't see why not," Parker casually shrugged. "We could use some eyes in the sky on our adventure."

"Alright then," said Flap. "Go ahead and lead the way."

So, with Flap joining them, Parker and Amber continue their little adventure around the vast lost world of DinoIsle.
