38 A Restful Sleep.

Pinkie was currently jumping down the street looking for something fun to do when a certain rainbow coloured Pegasus dashed right past her only to abruptly seeing her.

"Oh right! I wanted to invite you to the After Ursa Minor Defeat Party! I'm setting it up

in the park and there already a dozen of ponies that wishes to attend! I wanted to invite Twilight and Starfall too, but Twilight seemed to be wet and unresponsive when I barged into their house in the morning, haha!" Said Pinkie Pie in a single breathe.

Rainbow Dash baffled from the sudden invitation involuntarily nodded her head causing Pinkie to grin happily.

"Great! See you in an hour Dashie! Tell the author that he doesn't need to write it! It's going to happen off screen anyway!" She exclaimed before leaving in her usual abrupt and jumpy manner.

"What?..." Muttered the stunned Pegasus before deciding that it's just Pinkie and departing towards her home. Seems like she needs to get ready for some party now...

Fluttershy woke up feeling a fluffy weight resting on her chest. At first she got a bit scared but then he remembered that she came for a sleepover to Rarity yesterday after the fight with Ursa Minor.

She glanced down at the bundle of purple hair and the soundly sleeping unicorn ongoing to her chest and she couldn't help herself but giggle seeing her cute and unruly appearance.

Suddenly Rarity began to stir and soon looked up only to be surprised with the sight of a red faced Fluttershy gaping at her.

"Oh! Umm...Hi...Had a good sleep Shy?" She asked trying to hide her blush. While two girls sleeping together during a sleepover wasn't a big deal, the position they were in was quiet embarrassing.

Fluttershy looked at her with a blush but finally bursted into giggles.

"Hey Rarity. I love your new hairstyle.*giggle* And yes. The night was quiet pleasant." She joked lightly making The other mare blush and finally also laughing along with the yellow Pegasus. She knew what she was talking about. Her mane was currently a giant mess that she needed to take care of soon.

"Haha! Thanks Fluttershy. I'll take care of it in a moment. So...No nightmares or any sore body then?" She prompted and Fluttershy nodded.

"Yeah. Thank you Rarity. With how pleasant my night was, we should consider turning it into a repeated practice." She joked and Rarity laughed.

"Oh Darling! I didn't expect that from you! Haha! But sure. I don't mind having you over every now and then. I also had a very good sleep and certainly feel like we should see to it that our little experience repeats itself." She said and Fluttershy nodded with a smile.

"Ok, I guess it's time to get some breakfast soon." Said Rarity before slowly crawling out of bed and walking towards her mirror where she started to comb her mane.

"I'll help you with the breakfast Rarity! But...umm...could you... perhaps... help me comb my mane first?" She asked suddenly very embarrassed.

"Why of course Darling! Com join me and I'll be happy to help you out! I'm sure it's not easy when you have only your hooves to help you." Replied Rarity smiling and the two mares proceeded with their day in a similar manner.

Spike woke up to the sight of a white phoenix's beak being very close to his face.

"Umm...Phoebe? What's going on? He muttered as the Phoenix hopped off of his bed and trilled to him happily in reply.

"What do you mean 'you're happy I'm alright'? I..." Suddenly Spike remembered the previous evening and the humongous Bear dashing through Ponyvile.

"Oh no! I need to warn Mom and Dad! That Bear-" He started to worry but Phoebe trilled interrupting him.

"Huh? What? It's already taken care of? Are they alright?" He asked worriedly and Phoebe nodded her head before trilling one again.

"What do you mean unconscious. did something happen?" He suddenly asked worriedly. Twilight was apparently unresponsive and he was now really worried about her. He didn't hear the part that it wasn't because of the bear as he was already dashing towards her room to check up on her.

Phoebe just trilled in exasperation and followed her brother. He was such a hothead..

Spike burst into the room Where Twilight and Starfall were sleeping only to wrinkle his nose as the room was really smelly and humid.

"Twilight are you alright?" He asked despite the smell and one of the bodies under the cover stirred and sat up revealing Starfall with his mane in disarray.

"Oh...hi Spike. You're awake already? It's alright. Twilight is just a bit exhausted and needs her sleep. Me too for that matter so...you can sleep In if you want. We won't be opening the library for a few hours anyway..." He said and Spike sighed in relief.

"Ok Dad...Rest well..." He muttered not even realizing his slip up.

Starfall just smiled warmly seeing the dragon leave the room. He knew that Spike saw them as his own parents but he usually never used words like mom and dad but their names instead. He only slips up like this when he's worried or a bit out of it and Starfall considers it adorable.

The reincarnated unicorn turned towards the bed lump beside himself an moved the covers aside to reveal Twilight Sparkle covered all-over in white sticky substance with her expression still in the ecstasy from the previous night and her tongue hanging outside of her mouth. That was certainly a very good night but it's a shame that Twilight is still unable to keep up with his stamina. He really needs to up his pace of courting the others or he might break Twilight one day with the way he was going...

His mind wandered to his previous night and his excursion into the dream realm. He was never very good at the magic of dreams as it was not his domain but he had the talent in magic so he would not let himself be discouraged by having little progress.

It took him a while to find her but he didn't expect that what awaited him was a literal horror of a dream.

He saw Luna running through a never ending corridor, a monstrous creature following her closely, keeping the poor helpless Princes incapable of retaliation. The dream seemed to be like this. And despite her control over this domain, Luna was incapable of doing anything as long as she stayed in her own dream. He saw a misty being lurking in the shadows and recognized Tantabus, Luna's self-blame created entity watching her predicament and bidding it's time.

Starfall knew that he was unable to destroy him. Only Luna would be able to do so... correction...he could probably find a way to destroy him, but it would just reform again and again as long as Luna blames herself for becoming Nightmare Moon...

It still wasn't the time though. He alone wouldn't be enough to convince her otherwise so he should probably plan an intervention or let the story play out like it did in the show.

That of course didn't mean he couldn't ease her pain, at least for tonight...

Luna walked through the corridors of the Royal palace submerged in deep thoughts. Her horn glowed as she absentmindedly replaced the lavenders adoring the walls with a fresh bunch from her personal garden. It was her evening routine. Lavender was a flower that helped ponies sleeping and as her domain focused mostly on the nightly activities related to sleeping and dreams, she thought that it was only natural that she ensures the slumber of the Ponies around her proceeds undisturbed.

That she also enjoyed this activity, certainly was a large part of the reason she continued repeating it every night...

This evening though, she was not in the mood to appreciate the scent of her favourite flowers, neither did she appreciated the calm silence of the corridors.

Her mind was in disarray since the day before when Tantabus, her dream demon that she created to punish herself for turning into Nightmare Moon, stopped giving her nightmares after Starfall appeared in her dream.

She could remember running away helpless as some unimaginable horror followed her through an endless corridor. It was one of the Nightmares that Tantabus often showed her to torment her.

But then something changed! There appeared a tear in the space of the dream realm through which A pony jumped through and landed in the path right in front of her.

It was Starfall!

He looked at her with that kind smile of his and she could easily remember his words.

"You shouldn't blame yourself for a single moment of weakness. I already forgave you and the others would do so as well. While I know that those words are not enough for you to forgive yourself, I know that I can at least give you a peaceful night, be it even for just a single day..."

She watched as a spell crashed through the wall of the corridor and impacted Tantabus who must have been lurking there the entire time, dispersing it into black dust. She knew that it was just temporary but the sight still gave her a certain level of satisfaction she couldn't understand...

The world around her blurred. The monstrous horror that chased her disappeared and she found herself on a lush hill under the Breathtaking moonlight. Beautiful mystical flowers surrounded her while a patch of lavender stood out from the rest as she found herself standing right in the middle of it, right beside the one Pony that ever came to her rescue.

"I..." She wanted to say something but was interrupted by Starfall brushing her shoulder gently and guiding her towards the ground.

"Shh...Just lay down. You deserve the rest after everything that you suffered... Goodnight Luna." He whispered as she found herself laying her head on a pillow that appeared out of nowhere.

She dreamed of a peaceful sleep as Starfall stood guard beside her, stroking her mane gently.

As she walked through the corridor thinking about that dream, a startling realization finally struck her...

She...She was in love with Starfall...
