Chapter 177: Dana's first day of school part 2

[Dana point of view]

It's another mundane and pointless activity. Club. I'm just not sure if joining a club is the best thing for me. I feel like going back home or going straight to the Adventure Guild. Alice and Kat mentioned that joining a club is a fun thing to do. Even Diana said the same thing, but I just couldn't bring myself to join one.

"I will join your club, I always like arts and crafts, and when Diana mentioned that such a club exists in this school, I know that I should join it right away" [Saintess Rumia].

"It will be our honor to welcome you to the club" [Liya].

"You already have a club in mind Rumia? I'm impressed" [Dana]

"Rumia?" [Saintess Rumia]

"Wait, my mistake, I mean Saintess Rumia!" [Dana]

"No... It's okay! I am nothing but a student here as well, plus we are friends, so I will be even more pleased if you call me Rumia" [Saintess Rumia].

"That's a bit difficult, but if you want, sure" [Dana].

"That aspect of you is similar to your little sister. Anyway, I'm going to join the Magic Club. I need to expand my knowledge while I still can" [Princess Siti].

"How about you, any clubs you're interested in?" [Liya]

"I'm not sure... I'll just walk around first..." [Dana]

"Toilet cleaning club! Toilet Cleaning Club!" [Princess Siti]

"Hey!" [Dana]

Rather than clean a toilet for a whole year, I'd rather join a club, even if it's mean against my will. I'm sure other teachers wouldn't even force a student to clean a toilet as a punishment, but this witch will, and she'll throw any complaints into a trash can. No doubt she's serious about her punishment, so I start walking around to see which club would suit me.

Magic club like Siti? Maybe. It's kind of interesting, but I'm sure I can learn more from Sas, no matter how annoying he is. Martial arts club? I have Nar and Khamisah to teach me. Cooking club? Maybe, it's kind of fun. Maybe I should see for myself, but I'm kinda bad at cooking... No, I am still better than Khamisah. Khamisah's cooking is "unique", so I'm sure I wouldn't lose to her, but if the cooking club member found out how bad I am... Yeah, save it for last.

"Fancy meeting you here, are you looking for a club?" [Kara]

"You're... Princess Kara, right? Or is it Princess Mara?" [Dana]

"It's Princess Kara." [Kara]

"I see, I'm sorry I didn't recognize you. To answer your question, I am still looking for a club, otherwise that witch will punish us." [Dana]

"In that case, why not join our club?" [Kara]

"And which club are you in?" [Dana]

"I'm in the Reading Club." [Kara]

Reading Club. That sounds boring, but since she's Diana's friend, I wouldn't refuse her invitation. I'll just go and take a peek, and if I find it boring, I'll just walk out and say it's not for me.

The meeting place of the reading club is a place in a library. It's in a secluded corner where a room has been made for them to enjoy reading and discussing their latest read. There's even a girl in my class who has written a novel and wants to share it with others. Of course, the others encourage her to do so, but she seems shy, even hesitant. It's quite annoying, but I can understand it. I don't want anyone to find out how bad I am at magic compared to Diana, or how bad my cooking is, so I kind of see myself in her.

"Let me read it then. I'm just here to see if the club is for me or not" [Dana].

"But... But... Okay... I guess..." [Veronica]

"Alright, here I go" [Dana]

"Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait! I'm not ready yet! Please no!" [Veronica]

"Hmmm...what does that word mean?" [Dana]

"It means a cry for help in a desperate hour" [Veronica].

"I see... And why would the Princess do that? Isn't she powerful enough to solve her own problem?" [Dana]

"I mean... I haven't really come up with a proper plot yet, so..." [Veronica]

"Proper plot? I found it compelling from the beginning, just that the princess' motivation and decision really leaves a question mark for me. I'll definitely keep reading if you make more" [Dana].

"REALLY!" [Veronica]

"Isn't this great! You have a fan" [Kara]

"I did!? I already have a fan!? Are you really interested in my novel and not just showing pity?" [Veronica]

She aggressively grips my hand and looks me straight in the eye. Her passion to write can be seen in her eyes. I feel bad turning her down, so I just nod and say yes. She blossoms with happiness the moment I say it.

Since it would be rude to leave early after what I said, I might as well spend some time here reading a book or two. Let me see, maybe this one will do, or maybe this romantic comedy, or maybe these thin books. Or maybe even this book. I should just stock up and decide later and before I know it.

"What? The library's closing already?" [Dana]

"You seem to be having so much fun reading these books that you don't notice what's going on around you. You should definitely join our club." [Kara]

Did I really just do that? Me? Of all people? I'm surprised myself.
