Death was certainly not what I imagined it to be. I read enough novels in his life that I honestly expected some mysterious entity to tell me my death was a mistake and to give me some special ability. There was nothing like that after I died, which was a relatively normal death simply dying at some point after I fell asleep. When I eventually opened my eyes I was in something similar to a void, no noise, no sights, simply pitch black as far as I could see. I always thought of myself as somewhat of a calm person, but being trapped in this strange Void proved very quickly to myself otherwise, especially with the fact he seemed to not even have a body to look around with. Within what seemed like only a week, to My twisted senses, the surroundings quickly caused me to rant and rave, screaming at things around me, even though I screamed I produced no noise which didn't mean anything at the time, but looking back on it now I should've been incredibly startled by it, even though I knew there was nothing there, not something I'm incredibly proud of, but can you really blame me. There was a certain level of madness that started to form in my mind, and hallucinations quickly formed for me, which certainly didn't help me already addled mind, from life and the Void around me, noises from behind me, movement out of the corner of my eyes, and whispers from something I could not see quickly caused his small degree of madness to rapidly increase, as could be imagined when trapped in a place like this.

My sense of perception seemed to only warp more and more the longer I was there, it felt like I was stuck in this hellhole for months, but I assumed, and hoped, it was only a few days. I honestly thought I would go mad completely, if not for one thing that changed at some point. My surroundings seemed to grow lighter, and I seemed to hear something like a person humming to themselves as they did tedious work. It was familiar to me since I often did something similar when doing long projects. This humming and brightening of the surroundings gave me a sense of comfort I couldn't describe, I longed for it so much I didn't even question why it was happening, content to simply bask in the effects, which in hindsight should have been one of the first things in my mind. Until at some point the humming stopped and I felt like something was staring at me, that small feeling you have in the back of your head when someone's looking at you was all I felt, this feeling lasted for what I thought was days, could have been only a matter of minutes though. Until a voice spoke, "How in the world did something like you get in here?" The voice was Calming, sounding almost euphoric to my ears, a bit of an exaggeration but after being in a place for so long by myself I would've welcomed almost any voice especially one so Calming. The voice seemed to simply be talking to itself not even trying to address me, I didn't even know if it was aware that I could hear everything it said.

"I didn't know it was even possible for Humans to appear in a palace like this." The voice seemed to address something out of my view, whatever it was it didn't respond. The voice sighed to himself, "Ignoring me again are you."

Another voice spoke, "If a Human appeared, the Bosses must be planning something, I know better than to question anything They do." If the former voice was calming and seemed to spread a sense of peace through myself this one sent chills across my spine, putting a level of fear in my mind I didn't know was possible.

The Calming voice spoke once more, "What should we do with it then?"

The Terrifying voice simply said "Nothing, leave it here." The Calming voice seemed surprised by this if the little inhale of breath was anything to go by.

"Why? Usually there's policies we always have to follow when things like this happen" The Calming voice seemed surprised, something it said surprised me, it seems people like myself must get stuck in places like this often if there's policies in place, policies don't usually form until it happens a lot more than one time.

"Because the people we have policies for are stuck in the other areas, the few people that have ended up here have been personally 'handled' by the bosses every time, We don't have to do anything." The Terrifying voice seemed tired of It's companion, saying this in an exasperated tone like they've already explained before. A part of that terrified me, I didn't know what being handled meant but if the way it was emphasized means anything it can't be good, which it certainly wasn't anything good.

The Calm voice laughed to Itself slightly before saying, "Then do we just leave?" I certainly hoped they wouldn't. I didn't know if I would be able to handle the silence anymore, especially after this being the first other people's voices I've heard after God knows how long, even if they may not be human the voices alone are helping me.

"Yes, It shouldn't be long before one of the Bosses appears and 'deals' with it." The Terrifying voice said, and if the afterwards silence is anything to go by, they really did leave. But luckily, I didn't have to be in the silence for to much longer until a glowing yellow pair of eyes appeared in the dark and simply stared at me, around the pair of eyes a body seems to form, humanoid in appearance, even if it looked human it certainly wasn't, with hair as black as the surrounding Void, and skin so pale it was closer to a corpse than a real person. I assumed this thing was one of the bosses at the time because who knows what else it could've been for all I know this may have just been another "employee", if the fact there are multiple "Bosses" means anything.

The thing's mouth seems to slowly stretch into a smile to wide for a human mouth before it said to me, "It's certainly been awhile since a creature has appeared here, even longer since it's been a human" I tried to speak once more but just like when I tried to scream I could think it but no noise was produced, simply having to listen with no way to respond. As the thing just stood there staring at me, it seemed to have a permanent Cheshire grin. It said in a tone that seems almost mockingly saddened, "I'm very sorry I have to take you out of this lovely paradise around us, but it simply isn't made for a human mind to even slightly comprehend." The thing laughs hauntingly happily, like something trying to sound human even though it isn't and said in a tone as if it's some grand accomplishment, "I'm surprised you even lasted this long, the last one to appear here tried to maul me after I appeared, I had to 'Deal' with him much more harshly." The thing's Cheshire grin only disappears when a mocking smirk appears on his face before saying, "I imagine a lack of a body makes it very hard to do anything." The thing laughs to Itself as if It told the funniest joke and said, "I could give you a mouth to speak, but honestly, I don't really care to do so." The creature simply shrugs, while snickering to itself.

Everything the thing was saying kinda pissed me off, I was stuck in here for God knows how long, unable to even move, and the thing treated it like a game, which looking back on it now, it more than likely was just a game to it. Simply a way to entertain itself, because I can't imagine sitting in a blank Void is very entertaining, but if the way it emphasizes humans so much it may see this Void differently, it did after all specify it was not made for a human mind to comprehend. But, I didn't care much for the logistics of anything at the time. I was much too pissed at the past circumstances for me to really care what it said, which definitely wasn't my brightest move. If I was nicer to it, who knows my circumstances may have been different for me, maybe I could have gotten a chance to pick a much more valuable cheat that would've made my life so much easier than it was, and actually know what it was.

The thing in front of me smirk seemed to disappear leaving it with a blank face which while not scary, was much more ominous than the Cheshire grin it had or even the cocky smirk. "I saw your thoughts when you first appeared here, in fact I knew you were here the entire time. I simply wanted to see how you would react." The thing laughed to Itself again, something that quickly grew on my nerves. "You humans always have the funniest reaction, the ones that read the novels are either the best or the worst, I had two of note. One seemed to treat me as I am, a being of more power than he could ever imagine, him calling me R.O.B was kind of annoying though The second treated me as if I should simply give him an incredibly strong power and that it was somehow my fault he died, he called me the same thing though, which was much more annoying out of his mouth." It paused for a few seconds, while it was thinking I wondered why it would be annoyed to be called that. The thing looked at me as if reading my mind and then said, "It annoyed me because the term seems to apply that there are enough Omniscient beings out there for someone to be chosen by a random one. The truth is there are only Three Omniscient beings out there myself, a rival of sorts, who is the complete opposite of me, and the Creator of both of us. There aren't any more and there aren't any less. And there never can be any more or less." The things It said were simply something that went in one ear and out the other at the time, but it's all much more alarming now knowing there are two other entities like that thing out there is a terrifying thought I wish I never had.

"Well I'm going off topic, none of what I said was really important, to you at least." It emphasis the fact that it wasn't important to me at the time, I assume now it was talking to someone else at the same time as talking to me I didn't know who it was at the time, and even now looking back on the whole conversation, I still don't know who he was talking to, and honestly don't know if I even want to find out. "I'm going to do the whole reincarnating you shtick though, those stories are always entertaining to me though." The being shrugs as if the act of reincarnating may be a day job for it, for all I know it very well could be though. "I will as a matter of fact give you a gift though it's already been predetermined by me though, I've seen how you would act with almost every ability I could have given you, strong or otherwise, and due to that I already have the ability picked out." What it said worried me because the ability it would give could've been quite literally anything. "I won't tell you anything now, the only time you'll get more information about it is when you eventually awaken it, so whether you awaken the first day, some decades later, or never awaken it at all doesn't really matter to me at all though." Every time the thing said something it seems to simply piss me off more, that fact that I wouldn't even know what my ability was made me extremely angry for all I knew I could get anything from the ability to fold paper better, to the ability to warp reality and I wouldn't know until I awaken it, if i even awaken it that is. The way it talks makes it seem that I may go this entire new life with never awakening an ability, which would be extremely annoying especially depending where this thing throws me to.

"So this will be likely the only ever time you hear from though, at least until you awaken your ability, that is, when that time comes, I'll explain the abilities to you though." I didn't know why it would explain the ability to me if it won't even tell me what the ability is though. The thing seems to read my mind once more when it said, "Well if you get to the point you actually awaken the ability you'll be much more interesting to watch at that point so explaining the ability gives you a slightly higher chance to live though, which means that much more entertainment for me though." The thing smirks as it snaps it's fingers and said, "Well I'll be sending you on your way now, do live a very entertaining life though, if you're too boring I might just wipe you out myself, and that wouldn't be fun for any of us though." I don't even have a chance to do anything before it seems like I've been flashbanged with the massive flash of light and loud noises that boom through my head at the time.

That is how I ended up waking up in this room with no clue where I was, who I was, and what I have to do, the only thing I really had the ability to do was look back at the conversation an analyze after I calmed down from the whole experience of being overwhelmed with sensation after being in the Void so long. Every little detail in the room I was in seemed so much stronger, not even counting the fact I was in a body once again. The incredibly soft bed, and massive must I add, I found myself in, the luxurious looking furniture in the room around me and everything else like, the simple noise, sight, and smells you never really notice. The rustling of the clothes on my body as I moved in the bed, and even though the color scheme in my room was relatively dull, being made up of a majority of shades of cool colors, seeing a color other than pitch black almost made me cry, which I'm not ashamed to admit. The bed I'm in seems incredibly luxurious, much nicer than anything I had in my former life, and is sat in the back of the room with a rather straight view of the door. Which is suddenly opened incredibly gently, like whoever is opening is afraid to even slightly open the door too hard.

And, from the now open door emerges someone that I could only describe as a maid, a relatively attractive young girl, with relatively long brown hair and wearing the now almost iconic outfit, carrying a tray, with something I can't quite make out because when I attempt she suddenly drops it, and stares at me with a deer in the headlight look. Until she lets out a high pitched scream which feels like it makes my ear bleed with how long it is compared to silence of the Void. Before running out of the room, and I could faintly hear her screaming to someone outside of my room, "The young master finally woke up!" And in response several gasps that are incredibly hard to make out, before I hear a lot of hurried footsteps running around outside the room I found myself in. I look around me and realize what kind of situation I was in. It seems I wasn't Reincarnated but instead Transmigrated in one of the many classic ways. Where someone is Transmigrated into a young master of some household who died in some way, where they awaken some cheats, and spawn thousands of chapters of the same type of cultivation story. As I realize the situation I'm in there's only a single word that can seem to summarize my thoughts on the matter.

"Fuck" I quietly whisper to myself.
