5 New Devil In Town -1

I woke with a serious headache. My head pounded as sweat trickled down and landed on my brow. "Ah!" I exclaimed as a searing pain erupted from my chest. It felt like a hot poker was stabbing me over and over. I clutched my heart as the pain got worse. This lasted for nearly 20 minutes before it finally faded.

I looked around and was surprised to find that I was in the companies lodge. The pain hadn't disappeared but it was still present. My feet found their way under me and I stood up. I swayed slightly but was able to stabilize myself before I ended up falling into the furniture.

I waddled my way to the bathroom and supported myself on the sink. I groaned. 'Why the hell is my head pounding so much?' I then looked up and saw my reflection. My mouth dropped. No dropped isn't quite good enough. It was sucked into a black hole.

My hair had turned from brown into a jet black. My eyes changed from their blue color into black. My skin was tighter and my muscles were filled out nicely. "What the fu-" I said when suddenly a voice popped into my head.

'What?' I thought, puzzled to the extreme. My mind couldn't process this person in front of me and the voice that had decided to invade my thoughts. "How?" I asked.

'Huh?' I thought. "Jeremy?" I responded. A chirp sounded and the system moved to a menu.

"Uh, what is this?" I asked. A small menu popped up in the top right corner. It was a question mark. I'm guessing this is the help section from what I understand of common symbols used with technology. I focused on the icon.

'Devil System? What the hell?' I thought to myself. A video screen popped up and filled my vision while being transparent. A man walked onto the screen. He was not quite human. His skin was pulled tight like mine and his muscles had a similar form.

"Hello, if you're viewing this you're the chosen devil of whatever generation you're currently in." The man said. "This system that has been given to you has seen many generations of devils. You're the first mortal to have been granted access to the system for over 300 years however. The system is old and needs multiple updates to assimilate itself with the current technology level of this generation Would you like to update?"

A small menu popped up in the center of the video asking yes or no.

[Yes]-[No]

"Hm, yes?" I said.

[Yes]-[No]

"Yes." I responded.

Everything closed and a small bar appeared in the corner of my vision telling me the percentage of the update. It was at 1% for about 20 minutes then it changed to 2%. From my calculations it'll take about 3 days. This whole situation is just very odd.

'Hm, that's weird a quest?' I thought to myself. "Yes." I said accepting the quest.

Time Limit: 3 Days

Penalty: If Not Completed In Time User Will Freeze To Death>

"Hold up. Kill 10 wisps? That's impossible, only hunters are able to!" I exclaim. Even if I was a hunter I'd need a C grade license to even think about killing one, let alone attempt it. I'm going to die. Wait what's with that penalty! The only good thing I'd get out of this is that dagger. And if the system can automatically complete the update doesn't that mean it's already completed it.

I sat there dazed for a few moments. 'Why was I picked for this?' I thought to myself. Well if I don't want to freeze I'd best get going. I went over to my hiking pack and got one of the ice picks out. These things are ferocious. They are incredibly sharp, durable, and are a multi-use tool.

I attached the pick on my belt and donned my jacket and survival pack. I made sure to shove all of the medical items into my bag before leaving and walked out the door.

It was cold, really cold.
