Chapter 68: Zenkichi versus Odin(3)

'W-What the hell?! Zenkichi, what is this power you're using...?' Brunhilde's shocked voice echoed the same question everyone in the colesseum had as they witnessed his strange transformation. 'I've seen it beforehand but to actually feel this energy coursing through your body...'

Was this something a human could do? He looked more like a God or a Demon than one.

Zenkichi frowned as he raised his left arm, the gauntlet created a fifty layered shield over it to block the golden spear thrown at him, and yet despite such an impressive defense, the impact still sent him skidding back, a trail of dust following his movements and shield was completely skewered, the gauntlet pierced through and The Iron on his skin put it to a stop.

'It's a power that belonged to a subspecies of humans in my homeworld,' Zenkichi replied, his voice strained after his arm was almost got destroyed.

The divine spear immediately returned to its owner. 'I didn't want to use this power in this tournament, filled with the gazes of numerous curious Gods. I can keep up with a God, not several of them.'

'And turning into water and defying the laws of physics wasn't brow raising enough?!'

'I can explain those through genetics, experiments and talent. This though? It's a power that belongs to an entity similar to a God-like being.'

Zenkichi leaned forward, activating the thrusters in his greaves as he propelled himself back towards Odin, his wings flapped, and as if he teleported, he appeared before the God and lashed out a vicious kick, striking him right in the chest. Odin staggered back, surprised by Zenkichi's sudden burst of speed and power.

The King of the Aesir was shocked. Zenkichi had moved too fast for him to react! He had foreseen the boy's attack as he made to move. His thousands of years of battle instincts and body reaction should have reacted to his attack, but something similar to being shocked with electricity!

It was something only he had felt from his son, Thor, but it didn't deliver any sort of damage to him. No. It had momentarily halted his movements.

'What's going on?' Odin thought as he tried to regain his motor functions.

[Weighted Words]

Zenkichi didn't stop, and started an onslaught of attacks that seemed as though he froze mid-air as Odin started stumbling back with injuries and blood starting to appear on his body.

The human crowd in the coliseum erupted in gasps and cheers, their excitement palpable. They had never seen a human possess such incredible abilities before. It was a spectacle that captured their attention completely. But also, it completely arose their hope.

Their salvation was near! The Gods would fall!!

Over at the Gods' side, they were getting worried and restless. This wasn't something they'd ever seen a human could do!

If the previous matches could be reasonably explained through their physical prowess, skills, gifts and achievements then whatever this Nameless fighter was doing was unexplainable!

"Strange."

"Huh? Strange how, Lord Michael?" A beautiful woman with a pair of furled white feathered wings asked the handsome man beside her.

Micheal, a handsome man in his mid twenties with long blond hair and deep blue eyes with twelve white wings furled behind him as well, hummed and replied. "I don't know why, but whatever that blue energy that boy is using is making me feel...tensed for some reason. You feel it too, no?"

The female angel nodded, her silver eyes narrowing slightly. "Yes, I sense it as well. There is something...unnatural about that power. It's as if it is the antithesis to us."

Michael furrowed his brows, deep in thought. "We must investigate this further. If this boy truly possesses such a power, it could pose a threat to the balance of the realms."

The other Gods and Goddesses, overhearing their conversation, exchanged worried glances. They had always known that humans were capable of extraordinary feats, but this was on a completely different level.

Meanwhile, Zenkichi continued to unleash his onslaught of attacks on Odin, not giving him a moment of respite. His movements were a blur, as if he was teleporting from one spot to another. Each strike landed with precision, leaving Odin increasingly battered and bruised.

Meanwhile, Brunhilde was having the time of her life.

'Oh hell yeah! Get rekt'd, shitty old man!!' She said, raising both of her middle fingers beside Zenkichi. His attacks getting faster and brutal in each second.

Schrift – I, The Iron, gives him defensive skin comparable to iron but that was only in a metaphorical sense. In truth, Zenkichi's defensive capabilities are at the same level as nuclear bomb shelter. He could also manipulate the density of his body, allowing him to become as light as a feather or as heavy as a mountain. This gave him incredible agility and strength, making him a formidable opponent.

So when in Vollständig form, his Schrift I's abilities had been enhanced even further. Almost tripling his overall physical capabilities.

That wasn't all.

"You know," Zenkichi muttered towards Odin, who was now slowly getting back control of his body, blood started dripping out of the former's nose as raised his left hand. "despite being a God, you have iron in your body."

Odin's eye widened.

Zenkichi grinned maliciously, "Weird fact of the day." With a flick of his wrists, Odin's body was suddenly pulled towards him, as if he had been caught in a magnetic field. Odin's limbs were immobilized, and he could do nothing but watch in horror as Zenkichi clenched his fists, causing the iron in Odin's body to vibrate violently.

The King of the Aesir could feel the intense pain coursing through his veins as Zenkichi manipulated the iron within him. It was excruciating, like a thousand needles piercing his skin all at once. His body felt heavy, as if he was being crushed under a tremendous weight.

Zenkichi's eyes glowed with an eerie blue light as he channeled his power, the air around him crackling with electricity. It was a sight that sent shivers down the spines of everyone in the coliseum. This was pure destruction in its most raw and terrifying form.

"Enough!" Odin roared as he summoned his own divine power, breaking free from Zenkichi's grip. The coliseum trembled under the force of their clash, the ground cracking and crumbling beneath their feet.

Zenkichi smirked, undeterred by Odin's display of power. "Is that all you've got, old man?" he taunted, blue electricity crackling around his body as his wings flapped to bring him up in the air. "I told you before, I am going to whoop your godly ass!"

"Ha. Hahaha..." Odin chuckled, his eyes glinting with a mixture of amusement and irritation. "You certainly have a way with words, little human. But I assure you, I am far from finished."

Zenkichi's eyes widened in disbelief.

Odin's wounds started to heal, his injuries disappearing before Zenkichi's eyes. The King of the Aesir stood tall, his power radiating around him and Gungnir in his hand started to...growl? "I am a God, after all. A God of War; battles and war empower me."

"And you," There was flash of gold.

'Zenkichi, dodge!'

Zenkichi's instincts and Brunhilde screamed at him to move, and he complied just in time to avoid the lethal strike from Gungnir.

Unfortunately however, the spear always hits its target.

"Gah!" Zenkichi groaned as he held his severed left arm, blood spurting from the wound. His left arm lay on the ground, separated from his body.

The entire coliseum fell into a stunned silence. No one could believe what they had just witnessed. The mighty Zenkichi, who had seemed invincible just moments ago, was now missing an arm.

"–have chosen war against a God." Odin darkly chuckled, his one-eyed gaze fixed on Zenkichi. "I have to admit, you are truly a worthy combatant. Rejoice young man, for you have earned my respect. It has been so long since I've had such a challenge."

"...Well, what can I say except..." Zenkichi panted, beads of cold sweat covered his face as he used blut vene to stop the bleeding from his left arm. "...your welcome?"

"Hmph. To still make a joke when you're so close to death," Odin coldly said as he twirled Gungnir in his hand and went into a stance. "But, let this be a reminder to you and all those who oppose the Gods. No matter how powerful you may think you are, you are nothing compared to us."

"So you were holding back..."

Odin gaze turned colder as he replied, "Boy, what adult goes full force when fighting a mere child?"

"...Hold up, did you just–?!" Zenkichi didn't even get to finish what he was about to say when a golden light flashed before his eyes and his body changed into water in an instant.

But it was as if the spear had a mind of its own, the moment that Zenkichi was about to change back into his solid form, Gungnir pierced through the water, impaling him once again. Zenkichi cried out in pain as his body reformed around the spear, trapping him in a painful and immobilizing position.

The crowd gasped in horror, their excitement turning into shock and disbelief. It was as if time had frozen, the only sound in the coliseum being Zenkichi's agonized cries.

"–Oh no! Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, the Nameless fighter, is on the verge of death!" Heimdall said through Gjallarhorn, his tensed voice sounded throughout the colesseum. Horrifying the humans and exciting the Gods at the sight of Zenkichi being impaled by Gungnir. "Will this really be the end of this young Einherjar's fight for glory and salvation?"

"Boyo..." Sasaki worriedly muttered, Hrist put a hand of comfort and sympathy on his right shoulder.

She turned towards the arena, her gentle face turned fierce. "Nee-san, don't die!"

"It's over, boy." Odin said as he slowly approached Zenkichi's dying body. "For a boy, not even two decades in his life, to make it this far into fighting me, I'll make sure your name shall be remembered by inscribing it in the walls of the true realm of Valhalla."

'Is this it...?' Thought Zenkichi, blood dripping from his mouth as he struggled to breathe. 'Am I really going to die here?'

"No..." Zenkichi's bloodshot eyes dilated as he muttered. He gritted his teeth, his grip tightening on his right gauntlet. He knew he couldn't let up now. He had to keep pushing, keep fighting. If he backed down, everything he had fought for would be in vain.

'Zenkichi, don't forget,' Brunhilde's voice sounded out, a projected hand landed on Zenkichi's left shoulder. 'you're not alone.' her eyes cold and emotionless as she stared at Odin's similarly cold exterior.

It was only in this moment that both father and daughter, showed a similarity.

"..." Zenkichi smiled and nodded. "Yeah." Blue pattern-like lines appeared around the hole Gungnir stuck itself into himself to halt the bleeding.

He then raised his right arm, blue flames began to enveloped from his arm and then his entire body, including his severed arm. It only specifically covered his armor, melting it away into liquid, it quickly converged into his right hand and started forming into a beautiful spear with a golden handle and a purple, heart-shaped blade that radiated divine power.

"Oh, what is this?! Fighter Zenkichi seems to be still alive and is going to launch a final attack against Lord Odin!?" Heimdall exclaimed in awe and surprise.

"That is...!" Odin's eye narrowed, something was off with that spear. Though it resembled the spear that Brunhilde once used, it gave off a power level no less than Gungnir!

Tsubame Gaeshi wasn't the only Noble Phantasm Zenkichi copied. In fact, he had a few more but they all needed a certain requirement so they can be used; like his life in exchange to use them.

And this one particular Noble Phantasm could only be used in a certain situation if he and Brunhilde were in complete sync.

Brynhildr Romantia is the "spear of love and hate" of Brynhildr. Rather than being a true spear, it is a manifestation of her deep affection and hatred towards Sigurd having morphed with the mythril spear she used in life. So it falls more into the technique category than a weapon type, making it possible for him to copy it.

Brunhilde's Völundr's right hand ability was the ultimate ability of hers, summoning her spear that contained all her magical power she accumulated for eons. But it had instead became another catalyst for the Noble Phantasm to descend in this world.

Brunhilde's eyes turned blank, she inexplicably started tearing up,

"Oh hero, dear savior of humanity. I love you, I love you, I love you, love, love, love..."

Zenkichi was stunned.

'Did using this noble phantasm caused some kind of bleeding effect and nasuverse's Brunhilde is somehow affecting her?' he shook his head, he'll think about it later on and raised the spear, twirling it around as though it was as light as a feather, he entered into a throwing stance and firmly held it.

Odin frowned and raised his right hand, trying to recall back Gungnir–

"Nope!" Zenkichi yelled, coughing out a mouthful of blood, flexing his abs and blut vene to keep Gungnir in place, he took a step forward. "I ain't giving this back, old man! Go to hel!"

"Brynhildr Romantia!" Both Zenkichi and Brunhilde simultaneously said, a bright light flashed and blue flames erupted from the beautiful spear and Zenkichi's body, enveloping the entire coliseum. The spectators shielded their eyes from the blinding light, feeling the intense heat radiating from the explosion.

When the light finally subsided, a powerful shockwave rippled through the air, causing the coliseum to tremble beneath the force. All eyes were fixed on the center of the arena, where Zenkichi and Odin stood, surrounded by a cloud of smoke.

As the smoke cleared, the crowd gasped in astonishment. The floor of the arena was cracked and shattered, debris littered the ground, and Zenkichi stood in the center, his right arm still raised, holding the spear firmly.

But Odin was nowhere to be seen.

"L-Lord Odin...." Heimdall's voice trembled as he looked around, trying to spot the fallen God. "Is he...is he defeated?"

The smoke slowly dissipated, revealing Odin lying on the ground a few feet away from Zenkichi. His body was battered and bruised, his armor cracked and broken. The once proud and mighty God of War and Chief God of the Norse now lay defeated.

"He's gone," someone in the crowd murmured. "Zenkichi actually defeated Odin!"

The cheering and applause erupted, filling the coliseum with a deafening roar. The humans were jubilant, their hope renewed. They had witnessed the fall of another God, and ensuring another victory for Humanity!

But Zenkichi's victory came at a great cost. He was badly wounded, blood pouring from multiple wounds on his body. He could barely stay standing, his breathing labored.

"Son of a bitch..." He muttered, looking down at the spear embedded through his chest.

With gritted teeth, he grabbed a hold of the golden spear Gungnir, intending to rip it out of his body but then his eyes widened and he stopped.

'No. Something's wrong...'

Where was the quest system announcement?!

"Fuck!"

With gritted teeth and instead of celebrating his hard-earned victory like everyone thought he'd be, he started heading towards Heimdall, moving at a snail's pace.

On the way, he grabbed two surviving cans of beer. Cracking one of them open, he took a long swig of it.

'Zenkichi... Odin, he's still–!'

"I know, Brunhilde. I know," Zenkichi softly replied and hissed at the unexpectedly still cooled beer can and uncaringly stared forward, inwardly cursing that he was about 20 feet away from Heimdall. Not enough time to hand out a beer and finally use his ultimate skill. "Yup, it was a pretty bad and idiotic restriction but fuck if it isn't funny as hell. Well, it's not like this is my first time dying–"

That was as far as he could say before Gungnir vibrated and the golden divine spear rose up, splitting him in half from chest to his scalp. Blood splattered everywhere, staining the ground red.

The coliseum fell into complete silence once more, the joyous cheers and applause replaced with shock and horror. The humans watched in disbelief as Zenkichi's lifeless body fell to the ground, his severed halves echoed out a thudding sound.

The crowd fell into a stunned silence, their cheers abruptly silenced. The victory they had celebrated just moments ago had been snatched away in an instant. Zenkichi, the Nameless fighter who had defied all expectations, lay defeated on the ground.

"....You are strong, boy." Odin's hoarse voice whispered in the silence. Shocking everyone as he slowly stood up, injured and left with only rags. But he stood with pride and dignity befitting a God. "But in the end, you were no match for a God. Moreover, never....ever, turn your back on your enemy.

The Gods and Goddesses looked on, a mix of awe and sadness in their eyes. They had witnessed the incredible power and determination of a human, and now they had witnessed his tragic demise.

As the silence ensued, Heimdall let out a long heavy sigh at the loss of a young and powerful warrior, he began to say,

"Winner of the fifth match of Ragnarok, Lord O–"

"Hold on...." A familiar male voice spoke up, attracting Heimdall's attention.

"Huh? Who said–ah!"

The moment Heimdall lowered his gaze, he saw Zenkichi standing before him, a mischievous grin on his face. Heimdall stumbled back in shock, his eyes wide with disbelief.

Zenkichi's body was intact, not a single wound on him. Though his jacket and shirt were totally ruined. The severed halves lying on the ground had disappeared, as if they had never existed. Overall, it was as if Zenkichi had come back to life.

"What...what just happened?!" Heimdall stammered, his voice trembling.

Zenkichi shrugged nonchalantly. "Just a little trick I learned, you know. The power of regeneration and all that jazz." Not really, it was actually the work of his skill 'Cattish Tale'.

[Cattish Tale – Like how cats are known to have nine lives, you now have nine lives and automatic resurrection after death. Moreover, the previous ways that killed the user would be completely nullified after he resurrects.]

He was now immune to Gungnir's attacks.

But he wasn't going to say it was worth it because, well, he still had to endure the pain of getting dismembered!

"Hey Heimdall, hold my beer for me would you please?"

"Huh? Oh, woah!" Heimdall slightly stumbled back, catching the beer can. He stared at him and then to Zenkichi in disbelief. What the actual heck was going on here?

"Thanks. Now," he turned towards Odin, his blue energy wings unfurled and Brunhilde's armor covered him once more. "where were we?" He grinned and readied his spear, a wild beastly aura began gushing out of his body. Its power seemed more wildspread than he first thought, as numerous humans and Gods started either falling down unconscious or pissing themselves.

[Devil Style]

The moment he gave the beer can away, a unmistakable familiar songs started playing out of nowhere.

"...You make me feel invincible, Earthquake, powerful, just like a tidal wave...!"

The crowd was obviously bewildered.

"Huh? What's that?"

"Is that a...song?"

"It's kinda cool, not gonna lie."

Zenkichi shared the same feeling but he didn't pay attention to them. What was more important was the enemy standing before him!

"Do you know what I'm feeling right now, Odin?" He grinned. "I feel invincible!"

Though strange and weird, the humans erupted into a frenzy of cheers and applause. The humans were ecstatic, their hope rekindled by Zenkichi's miraculous revival. The Gods and Goddesses, on the other hand, were both bewildered and impressed by his abilities.

Odin's one-eyed gaze narrowed as he looked at Zenkichi. "You truly are an exceptional human," he admitted grudgingly. "But do not underestimate me. I am still a God, and I will not be defeated so easily."

Zenkichi laughed, his eyes glinting with determination. "I wouldn't have it any other way, old man. This fight is far from over."

And with that, the battle between Zenkichi and Odin resumed, the two warriors clashing with unimaginable power and skill. The coliseum once again trembled under their might, the crowd watching in awe as the fate of their world hung in the balance.
