15 A new threat to their love

"You know better than to play this dangerous game, Azalel." Angel Gabriel nagged at him.

As usual, Gabriel came barging into his den uninvited. And it's becoming a habit.

"Don't you have anything else to do?" Axel said in a sarcastic tone.

"Do you really take Muriel's life lightly?"

He sprang up from his seat instantly. Rage written all over his eyes.

"How dare you question my love for Urie? I may not be the best being for him. But I sure can do anything to keep him alive."

"And this is your way?" Gabriel fought back. "I made it very clear that his spirit needed to be cleansed. And you're the one who's polluting it."

"That's not a very nice way for an angel to talk." Lucas somehow popped out on the dark part of the room.

"Stop interrupting us. You are not included in this." gabriel hissed at lucas.

"Azalel is my Master and only friend-"

"And so was I to Muriel!" Gabriel had let his composure slip.

And for the first time, Azalel understood why Gabriel was so eager to keep everything on track.

"I'm begging you," Gabriel turned to him. "I've lost a very good friend once. And this maybe his last chance of getting back. No, it's definitely his last chance. So I'm begging you. Don't mess things up for him. You are not the only one who cares that much about Muriel."

Gabriel was about to disappear as he turned his back with shoulders slouched. As though he carried the world onto his back.

"I get where you're at. And believe me, I would want nothing more than to keep him safe. And it would be hard for you to believe as well. But trust me, I will do anything to ensure his ascending to heaven."

"I hope you know how to keep your word. " Gabriel said without looking back on him. He left a very sad image upon leaving.

Axel gradually dropped his back on the couch near him. It wasn't a question that he cared none about anyone or anything besides Muriel.

But he had to admit, he felt sorry for Gabriel for losing his friend.

"Angel's can be very emotional sometimes. Don't take it personally." Lucas uttered.

"I know my love for Muriel can be very selfish and possesive. And that I never thought that anyone else can take care of him like I do. But knowing that someone else cares for him much as I did . I've never been this relieved."

"He's not inlove with him, is he?"

He threw a glare at Lucas's direction. But the latter knew only but to laugh at his jealousy.

"Not everyone is as perverted thinker as you."

Lucas poured a glass of whisky. And drank at its bottom.

"Have you forgotten, all devil's think a like. And you are no exception."

"Even if that were true. No one can surpass my feelings for him." adressing Muriel.

"Have you ever thought if he felt the same way as you do?"

Axel was taken aback for a while.

Yes, Muriel did sacrifice his life for him once. But it doesn't guarantee that he feels the same as he.

"Is it worth to risk everything and gain nothing in the end?" Lucas asked in a serious manner.

"I am not doing this out of charity. Neither do I want to be a martyr for love. I'm doing this out of my selfishness. I only want to be with him for as long as I can-"

"You've been telling these lines, like you're about to go on a war to die. Are you planning something that you aren't telling me?"

Axel drew out a laugh.

"What? You're worried about me?"

"I don't like to serve anyone else. And I'd like to keep it that way. So pardon me if I'd like to keep you alive for my sake. That's my way of being selfish."

"You' re tricky."

"We all are."

The two laughed at their own foolishness.

But Lucas suddenly made a very serious face upon remembering something.

"Aren't you worried that Lilibeth might find out about this?"

"Lilibeth?" Axel raised an eyebrow in anticipation. How could he forget about that woman? Of all the demons and spirits that may claim Muriel's life at anytime. It should be Lilibeth that he must be on guard with. For she is no ordinary demon, and she will definitely not take Muriel lightly if she ever knows the truth about him.

"She can't know anything about Muriel. Even if she despises my father with all her guts. She will definitely join hands with him knowing how I feel about Muriel."

It's no secret to the underworld how 'Lilibeth' who is known to be the queen and maker of all demons. Is deeply obsessed with the prince of darkness. None other than Azalel himself.

She was the first woman to be made alongside Adam. The first man who God had created. But Lilibeth was very headstrong and did not want to follow Adam. But instead, she wanted to be treated his equal.

So she fled out of the garden of eden and called out Gods real name. She instantly became a demon after.

On her own, she created a legion of demons. Both by semens of mortal men and by children she stole from every mother's womb.

She can be considered as powerful as Axel's father lucifer.

And what's more scary is that she fancies Azalel even as a kid.

She has always wanted him to be his king. But his father objects this.

For lucifer wanted him to heed his throne once he accomplishes destroying all of God's creations.

From which he did not only defy. But instead, he turned against his father and betrayed him. For the sake of loving one of God's archangels.

"I don't believe she knows nothing of any of it. You know just how sinister she is. If I were you, it should be her you should be more careful about. More than your father." Lucas warned him.

After that, he fell into deep thinking.

Who knows when Lilibeth will appear nor make her move.

But surely, she will make an entrance soon. And he has to prepare for it.
