The Pet Kidnapper's Most Likely Identity (Day 1)

You reviewed all the available clues in your head. 'There were three people Mr. Milton had conflicts with. Javier Castellanos, Stan Waters, and Da Pao Zhang. Each had a different career, and each had a different complication with him... Then, there's fur all over the area near the stairs. Two tracks of green paints, but in different direction... the dried paint seems to be smooth. The kidnapper had a mask and an absurdly large jacket... how do I connect them, albeit a bit haphazardly?'

You put your hand on your forehead, and started tapping on it. "What is the connection...?" you muttered. "I'm just gonna go out on a limb here..."

You quickly wrote on your notepad. "Javier-Watercolor painter. Stan-Plumber. Da Pao Zhang-Home Renovator." You then looked at the paint. "Paint... paint... wait... Javier uses paint. But, wait, Da Pao also uses paint."

Detective W, who was listening to your deductions, nodded with each sentence you spoke. "But, one uses watercolor paint. House paint don't use watercolor, that's for sure. And the dried paint is smooth...," you continued with what you know.

Detective W casually crossed his arms, and nodded. "So far, all true statements. But, where does that lead you?"

Your eyes opened wide in realization. "Wait... house paint... isn't dried house paint smooth?! If wall paint isn't smooth, what will the customers say?!"

You received a nod from Detective W again. You were getting closer to the kidnapper's most likely identity.

"If it's house paint, then there could only be one suspect! Mr. Da Pao Zhang! It's him!"

Detective W clapped. "You got it, my friend. Also, the tracks do tell us another clue."

"What clue?"

"The dog was shedding, and the man was running. See those tracks?"

You nodded.

"If he was walking, the paint track would have been closer to each other, and more clumped. However, he was running, so the paint trail was thin and space far apart."

"No duh, W!" Ha-Eun exclaimed. "Even a newbie can tell us that!"

"Fine, fine," Detective W resigned. "I was trying to give you guys another mental challenge. I guessed I failed."

You slapped Detective W's back. "So, dinner is on you tonight, right? Boss?" you beamed.

"Obviously. Now, Mr. Milton, when will the kidnapper tell you the location today?"

"Probably this afternoon. I do have 1,000,000 dollars just in case. Oh, my poor Oreo!"

"Contact me when you receive the message! This abduction can and will be solved today! You have my word!" Detective W assuredly told Mr. Milton.

"Guys, go back to headquarters!" Detective W exclaimed. You guys all hopped on the car, and left.
