The Culprit of The "Missing Diamond Ring"

The most obvious suspect was Ms. Janice Fan, the young lady who had always been in a wheelchair.

She obviously lied. She had stated, "I've been paralyzed since I was young." She then told you that those shoes were a gift from her deceased husband, and she puts them on everyday. But, a paralyzed person in a wheelchair shouldn't be able to move his/her leg, right? So, how could her leather shoes have such obvious creases and wrinkles if she never gave them to anyone else? She couldn't even walk in it in the first place-if she was indeed paralyzed.

The stain in Mr. Hollandale's left pant cuff was actually shoe polish. Detective W had the police check Ms. Janice's shoe polish and the stain left on Mr. Hollandale's pants. They were the same.

Confronted with this, Ms. Janice broke down, and revealed she could walk all along. Her husband died, so she decided to save some money by frugally spending her savings and pretending to be disabled to get disability benefits. Those shoes were indeed her husband's gift, and she didn't have enough money for the funeral. Coincidentally, the lights went out, and her greedy mind thought that it would be a good chance to steal the ring and make some money out of it. (Yep, the lighting issue was pure coincidence.)

Unfortunately, she went straight to jail. However, she didn't stay for long, and the police did promise her a funeral-her husband was a policeman. Mr. Hollandale invited the two of you to watch his magic shows for free, and you both gladly accepted it.

Lyn's leg healed over time.

For Detective W, it was just another Sunday.
