In Japan, the rainy season started earlier than I expected. I don't complain, particularly I love to smell the wet earth mixed with the sounds that raindrops make when they knock on my bedroom window. I am studying yet another crime, similar to previous crimes, of poisoning. I am a Japanese public service detective, who dedicates his life to protecting the inhabitants of Tokyo.

These crimes, in particular, were all committed by poisoning, followed by theft and, in some cases, assault on the already dead body. Crimes under the influence of medicines, herbs and teas that cause slow death are more common practices done by women who either want to steal the fortune of some millionaire gentleman, or kill for fun. But this case, in particular, thefts, incredible as it may seem, are not precious pieces or money. Possible murder, stole family photos. How do I know that? When we tried to catch the killer, we always found pieces of photographs stolen torn along the way, until we lost sight of her.

It's 2:30 am. I need to sleep. Tomorrow will be, like every other day, a very long day.

WEDNESDAY 05/02/2017

With the soft noise of the alarm clock and the rays of sunlight coming directly in my face because I forgot to close the windows last night. I wake up and thank the universe for knowing that it's still 6:00 am.

- Miyako, you were lucky this time.

I tell myself in my thoughts. I get up and put on my slippers. But the moment I dress them, I feel that something is behind me, looking at me through the bedroom window, the one I didn't close the curtains on last night. I turn and see the leaves of the bushes move in a quick and loud way. I didn't care about that because, in that rainy season, they could only be animals hiding from the cold.

Since I live alone, I don't have breakfast at home. I get in the car after having washed and brushed my teeth in the most awkward way possible and drive towards work. The police office is not far from where I live. Some days, when I'm in a good mood, I ride my bike.

6:40 am

Arriving at work, I see that there are many press cars parked in front of the office.

- Another crime has been committed. It is already the 5th murder in a period of 4 months.

I hear a journalist talking towards the big television camera in front of him.

I park the car in my parking space and enter the office from the back.

- What happened, who was the last victim?

I enter by removing my overcoat and placing it on the lamp.

- Detective Maiyako.

A colleague addresses me in reply.

- The new victim was Hiro-Yan. As of the Yan industries. Married and father of 2 children.

Mr. Yan was one of the richest and most protected people in Japan. How did they manage to kill him?

- Detective, and we have one more thing to say. We have hints of a possible murder. There are great chances of being the one we suspect.

- Please show me who.

I head over to the office computer room. When I see who the possible killer could be, I am amazed in a way that I couldn't hold the surprise for myself.

To be continued...
