29 Crossover World (6)

After leaving the portal, I found myself back in that alley.

'I had a lot more to ask, but this was not our conversation, as he said. So there's no need to worry.'

Although I still had some questions, these could wait.

When I looked up at the sky, my face was surprised. The reason was that it was dark right now. It was daylight when I was talking to the skeleton just now. I don't know if time accelerated at the destination point on the way back through the portal.

It wasn't going to make any difference whatsoever, so I calmly walked out of the alley and looked at the big mansion at the very back of the city.

"I think it's time to investigate a little more deeply..." I whispered to myself and made my way to the vast mansion.

If things go wrong, I can do what I always do.

I was not in a hurry, so I walked on foot, and it took me about five or six minutes to reach the entrance of the mansion. When I arrived in front of the big gate, two city guards classically shouted at me, pointing their weapons at me.

"Stop stranger!!! Don't you know this is the house of the city lord!?! How dare you try to enter without asking!" One of them was shouting and the other was silent.

I didn't want to deal with people at this level, so I used hypnosis directly and started talking. "Go and tell the city lord. I am here to discuss an important matter." I instructed the guard who had just shouted and he rushed inside. The other one calmly lowered his spear.

Within minutes, the other one returned and addressed me respectfully. "Sir, our lord is waiting for you. Allow me to escort you. Please follow me." Then he turned his back on me and started walking.

I started to follow him and when I looked around in the big mansion, it seemed like everybody was nervous. I already thought they would be like this because of the general, but the way they were acting was even more so. They were looking around and acting as if a war was going to break out at any moment.

And I couldn't blame them for that, because their lives were really on thin ice right now. If Lord Cristalica is too harsh with the general, it won't be days before this city turns into hell. It's a natural response, considering these people have families here.

Before long we were in front of another large room. The guard turned to me and said.

"Sir, I can only escort you this far. Lord Cristalica will be waiting for you inside." He bowed to me and returned to his post.

'Hypnosis is a wonderful ability for these kinds of situations...' After thinking, I opened the door without knocking and made my entrance.

At the very back of the room there was a great throne-like seat, and on top of it sat an unknown-looking person I would never have guessed.

The reason for my brief surprise was not that the man sitting in this chair was from a series I knew. Because he didn't look old enough to be a city lord. He didn't look like someone who had married and his daughter was of marriageable age.

"Welcome to my city, foreigner. I am Rankin Cristalica, lord of the city of Cristalica. I am the sixth ruler of the city and I have no intention of leaving this position. What is this important matter that this bodyguard of mine has rushed to inform me about? You know I have a lot on my plate with the general here." The city lord, Rankin, began to speak dominantly, making no concessions to me.

"That's what I wanted to talk about. About your daughter and the general." I released a little bit of my aura to let him know that I had the power to interfere in the situation.

His face took on a completely different expression as he felt the radiating reiatsu. And he spoke again.

"...How can you help me?"

The fact that he asked me for help without hesitation showed how seriously he took this matter.

"Before we start the whole thing, we have an obstacle called the general. It's best to get it out of the way beforehand." I answered him. Rankin rose from his throne and gestured for me to follow him.

After following him I found myself in a smaller room, like an office. He sat in the head chair and I sat across from him. Then we continued talking.

"And how do you plan to do that?" Rankin looked at me like a child who would soon get what he wanted.

I was about to open my mouth when a voice echoed throughout the whole mansion.

"Rankin! Where are you!?! We have things to talk about." A woman's voice was getting closer and closer.

"You cannot escape His Majesty's orders. If you do not send your daughter to the capital with me within three days, I will be forced to use violence!" As she finished the sentence, the door to the room opened and someone came in.

The woman looked at me and Rankin as if the world was beneath her eyes. She looked me over and then spoke again in a high tone.

"Who is this, you're not working behind my back, are you? Otherwise, there will be dire consequences."

After I realized who the woman was, I thought aloud, "Here is the obstacle. Time to get it out of the way."
