Destiny: The Novel

*Note that this is a fanfic, so the events of this novel will not be following the original plotline of the game. Instead, we will be offering a dark twist...quite literally.* ***** Before time began, before the universe was created, before everything else, there were two primordial forces. Constantly at odds with one another, yet utterly inseparable, wherever they go. Their names were Light, and Darkness. After an unknown duration of time, our universe was created. The Light, seeking something new, arrived at our solar system. We called this Light the Traveller. With it, we, the human race, became prosperous. Powerful. And...arrogant. We took everything at face value, for granted. What we didn't realize...was that the Traveller was not as grand and almighty as it seems. With the seemingly invincible powers Light has granted us, we humans began to become overconfident. The phenomenon known as hubris began to take over our minds. And eventually, we would pay the price. The Darkness chases the Light wherever it goes. And now, it's here. With us. ***** Written by the author of The Mage of Primordial Chaos, Cyclxne, along with the author of The Crimson Calamity, Retric. We are both in love with the game Destiny and its lore, so we decided to turn it into a novel. Enjoy! P.S. You don't need to know anything about Destiny to enjoy this novel. So, even if you haven't played the game before, still give this book a try!

The Darkness Within

Deep underneath the surface of the Moon, a huge black Pyramid lay. But it was far more than just any Pyramid. This, was the eternal nemesis of the Traveller, the scourge of this universe - the powerful entity, known as Darkness.

Two 25 year old boys stood side by side, facing this monstrous yet beautiful 'thing'.

"Come," the Darkness beckoned.

The two boys looked at one another, confused, and both took a single step forward. But the moment they did, they felt a disgusting feeling. An utterly repulsive coldness, as if someone - or something - was invading their Light. Without their Ghosts, they were completely helpless. If they died here...that was it. No more second chances. This was their one and only life left. If they lost it...it was all over.

Knowing this, they two boys immediately stepped backwards. They were cautious, experienced Guardians - the same ones who fought and fell in the Red War. The last thing they remembered was going on a mission to invade Dominus Ghaul's ship, but it had went horribly wrong. Originally the ones with the element of surprise, their plan was somehow leaked, and they ended up being ambushed by the Cabal instead. Gravely injured and worn down, the two Guardians - brothers - had fled, and have been missing ever since.

But what they didn't know, was that their efforts in fact distracted the Cabal army enough that another Guardian was able to slip in Ghaul's ship while his army was busy dealing with these two, and defeat the Cabal's new leader once and for all. These two Guardians were truly heroes...but no one knew, not even themselves.

"What...are you?" one of the boys asked the enormous black pyramid before them. His voice was quiet and weak, but within the dead silent chamber they were in, his words echoed on the walls around him.

"I...am the Traveller," the Darkness lied.

But the two young Guardians were not fools.

"The Traveller...?" the other boy murmured to himself, narrowing his gaze. "How is that possible...the Traveller does not look like you."

"Let rephrase...I am YOUR Traveller."

"What...do you mean?" the two young Guardians asked in unison.

"The Traveller you once worshiped has abandoned you. The world you once protected has forgotten you. But I...have not."

The two Guardians fell silent, unsure how to respond. Whether what this *thing* said was true or false, whether it was right or wrong, the two lone boys had no way of knowing.

But they knew one thing. Whatever this 'thing' was, its words were tempting.

"I will become your new Traveller, Guardians," the Darkness continued. "I will become your salvation. The Light believes you thankless...nothing more but a pawn to do its bidding, over and over again. But I am different. Everything you do for me will be rewarded - with strength. Power far beyond what the meager Traveller can provide."

The two boys - the two brothers - looked at one another, and nodded. Then, turning back to the Darkness, they stepped forward. And another. And once more.

And just like that, the two Guardians were reborn - but not in Light.

They were now forged...in Darkness.

Heya guys! Cyclxne here.

So some of you may know me from my main novel, The Mage of Primordial Chaos. Recently, I fell in love with this game, Destiny 2. Mainly, the lore...so I thought. What if I took the lore of Destiny, and turned it into a novel?

And - well, this is the product of that. Non-Destiny players, people who don't know anything about the world of Destiny...worry not! You can still enjoy this fanfic all the same. Enjoy!

Hey everyone, I'm Retric.

Remember, this is a fanfic novel. We'll add twist to make it more interesting, but we'll also try to be as faithful as possible to the original!
