3 Subclass

+ Quest Completed GUNS BLAZING (1/1)

=====================

I stood there in shear awe of what I had done. The six Fallen dregs slumped on the ground around me, lifeless. All it had taken was mere seconds.

In shock, I stared down at my palms. Where had this ability come from?

I did not know.

My body moved to its instinct for the most part. The instinct of a hunter.

"Of course.."

I had almost forgotten that my body was a golden age corpse. A warrior that had fought for humanity and died. Surely, the only explanation I could muster was the ingrained muscle memory within.

"Remarkable."

But my excitement was cut short as I heard a sharp voice.

"Careful guardian, our skirmish has alerted the nearby fallen squads. My analysis shows that within five minutes, this location will be swarmed." ghost's voice alerted

The sudden alert brought me back to reality and I instantly began to move.

Peeking at the primed Fallen Pike that had appeared before me, I rejoiced.

"Yeah let's go."

-----------------------------------------------

[ A few hours later]

A red streak could be seen zooming through the dark desert plains, a smoke trail left behind by me.

I was riding the Fallen Pike at full speed and it was simply exhilarating.

Just to be clear, this baby was going about 150 Km/hr. Not only was it the rare quality, it was even fully loaded with frontal assault rockets.

Ghost latched on to my vest as gusts of wind blew past my face. We had basically left fallen territory and now roamed the wastelands.

Unfortunately, while it was safer out here, there practically wasn't a single living thing roaming this part of earth. Which meant that not only was I completely alone, I was also completely helpless.

"Ghost, how much fuel is left in the tank." I sighed

Noticing the bike slowing down slightly, I knew the fuel wouldn't last long. Hence, it was best to take this opportunity to park somewhere relatively secluded and hidden.

"The vehicle has about 30 units of fuel left. Distance wise, we may only cross another 60 Km. According to our current trajectory, the fuel will run out in approximately 23 minutes and 45 seconds."

"Determine the best place to stop in our current trajectory, somewhere we won't be seen easily."

"Hmm..." its robotic voice echoed

I waited a few more minutes and finally I could see a marker placed on my HUD.

"I have marked a place about 30 Km on your map guardian. A hill side, near the shore. The topology suggests it's an aqua ravine. Chances of anyone stumbling upon us are close to none."

"Got it, thanks."

I revved the bike the most I could, and soon we shot past as dust clouded behind us.

After wringing the fuel tank dry at maximum speed, we reached two plain limestone cliffs, separating the dessert biome from what I could only describe was the a beach shore line.

As the bike sputtered its last few embers, I stalled beside the cliff, slowly steering the bike to its underside.

"This is unexpected" ghost exclaimed.

The cliff had a hollow cave at its feet. Conveniently placed facing the shore....It seemed sketchy but ghosts radar showed no threat or signs of life. Meaning it was already abandoned.

Perhaps it was a golden age hideout we had stumbled upon. It was entirely possible because we had ventured away from the Russian Cosmodrome, slightly derailing us from any familiar territory.

Carrying ghost in my palm we both walked in cautiously. Soon ghost's light illuminated the dark cave interior. But all we could see were some scrap boxes lying around.

Trudging in a bit further, the cave system had further ravines that went very deep...This

My foot slightly clinked against the floor, and as I shined the light on the ground I could see what had caused the noise.

"Rail lines?"

Ghost flew out of my hand, examining the rails closely with his laser scanners.

"Hmm, interesting. Guardian, these are golden age railing lines. I think we're in a mineshaft. Aqua ravine, a few hundred kilometres from the Russian supply line. It can be possible that we've stumbled upon an old mining tunnel used to gather mineral resources for golden age technology."

"Fascinating....But can these old resources help us?" I inquired cluelessly.

"Hmm, this mining tunnel may have been out of service for centuries. I am afraid we cannot know anything unless we venture deep below. However, I do not think it is a wise idea. My sensors are blocked by something. I cannot scan anything below 20 metres."

As soon as I heard about the sensors being interfered with, I immediately knew not to venture deep into the mine tunnels.

Hey I wasn't a coward, but without ghost's constant information and surveillance, I was practically a sitting duck down there. Besides, as a hunter, I wasn't going to mindlessly rush in there... if anything I needed to be discrete and cautious.

"That's fine ghost, let's just linger around the surface. I still need to get used to my powers."

I picked relatively flat ground and sat down, opening the menu.

Immediately I could see the "System" tab flashing repeatedly

"Of course, how could I forget." I mused

The remaining rewards for the quest....finally some good experience. I licked my lips as I clicked the system tab, and immediately a few prompts were thrust into my face.

As I clicked on claim, I felt a new energy rush through me. This was the XP....amazing. I felt stronger than ever, like water poured onto a dried plant. Rejuvenated by something I didn't even know I lacked.

{Legendary Guardian System}

{New Task}

* Choose a Subclass :

1. Nightstalker

2. Gunslinger

3. Blade dancer

================================

I looked onto the screen, baffled. I had long waited to choose a subclass, but to think I simply needed to level up once. I guess the system really worked giving bonus xp.

But....now that I had finally decided to choose a subclass. Which one?

A complicated issue that I couldn't just breeze past. Honestly, Blade dancer wasn't really something I could pull off. It was a reckless art that required relentless combat. However, I liked better to lurk in the shadows, preparing to strike with a lethal blow...

In that case, only Nightstalker or Gunslinger awaited. Unfortunately, as things remained I was clueless as to whether I could switch later on. Surely I could multiclass these right?

I mean, various npc's had showed the ability to use multiple subclasses in their respective ways...If I truly could master that, then it would be deadly. But for now....the most suited option for me was definitely.....

"Nightstalker it is"

Nodding my head as I picked the subclass.

Suddenly, I felt as if the space around me... it had warped. I felt a strange membrane around space. Something I could manipulate.

"Is this void energy"

Just as I had suspected, I saw a small subtext in my screen.

===============

"The void welcomes you in its embrace."

* Nightstalker subclass Achieved!

+ Nightstalker Lv. 1/10

===============

This was what I was missing, the power in my hands right now...If I had this previously, the dregs wouldn't even stand a chance.

The vortex grenade, the smoke melee, the double jump.... and lastly

The super ability... Shadow shot.

I was still unable to perform it but... I could certainly feel the possibility.

Looking at my HUD, the super bar was only half full...

If I could completely fill it up, it would be a simple task to obliterate a fallen captain. Excited about my new powers I opened my status screen.

~Spectral Shade: In combat, enemies have a higher probability of losing your presence if you break line of sight.

================================

I could see a slight modification to my primary weapon...That's right I did gain some weapon aptitude...and new combat perks...

I was slightly familiar with the concept of perks, but it seems I had gained an uncommon ability. Spectral shade, the name surely sounded cool. But the fact that it said probability meant that it was an unlikely occurrence.

Either way, the perks were surprisingly useful.

I remained brooding in my own thoughts, thinking of different ways to combine my abilities. Frankly, the fact that I wasn't limited by the game's AI and could actually utilize these in real time at my own discretion... the possibilities were simply astounding.

A double jump into a shadow shot, coupled with smoke to make myself disappear. A completely stealthy approach where I could simply smoke in and sneak around to assassinate enemies. I had to admit, the concept was thrilling.

'Guardian, quick come take a look at this." ghosts voice aroused my curiosity.

"What's going on?" I responded, scuttling over immediately

"Don't you see this?"

Ghost pointed towards some strange letters inscribed in golden ink on the wall.

"This is?"

"Golden age encrypted language. My database shows that it's a secret code, meant to mark Arial exporting stations for resources. If my analysis is right, then we've hit the goldmine. Golden age exports were managed by Arcadia class Jumpships. Chances are there's some old ships docked inside the mining stations below. Probably stowed away gathering rust. If we can hack into those ships, we'll easily reach the Tower."

"You mean to say you want us to go down there?" I said, pointing towards the dark obscured mineshaft tunnel.

"I think it's worth a shot guardian." Ghost responded

Honestly, I wasn't in the mood to go down there, but seeing as I desperately needed a ship....Well beggars can't be choosers. Besides, with my new void subclass, I was eager to fight anything we encountered... in moderation of course.

My sidearm appeared in my grip, as I sauntered over towards the tunnel. Ghost's small flashlight barely illuminated the drop, I could estimate it to be more than 20 feet....

Taking a deep breath in, I took a leap of faith, as my vision turned to pitch black.
