A Fool in Love

Everything about her shines...

She could make those faces, and immediately, I had a feeling. A feeling that I want to follow whatever she wishes to fulfill. Yes, I am a fool. Love can really change a person. I know that I am not the only one who feels this way. That part of you wanted to give everything to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Yes, yes, I know what you are thinking. I am being overly overacting even though I only met Serene earlier. Although this is solely based on what I feel, it is also based on the feelings of others. In my opinion, I think that the saying "Love at first sight" is actually because of this.

Because I didn't want to see her disappointed, I did things I'd never done just for that smile to remain on her face.

Changing my plans...

Fitting her inside my schedule...

I've never done this for anyone. Yet, for the first time in my life, she made things possible for me. Imagine the wonders she could bring me after months or years. The changes I could attain with her being a part of my life for eternity.

I am really a fool...

But as much as I don't want to admit it. My actions have already spoken louder than my words. Serene made me smile, and as much as I despised that, she made this face of mine show something genuine.

"Leon, you sure do lose your focus a lot," Serene suddenly tapped my shoulders to call my attention. "Sorry, I was just thinking about something," She looked at me with eyes of astonishment. "Do you plan to be a psychologist in the future?" Talk about sudden. "Why do you ask?"

"You seem to be overly curious about a lot of things. And you often stare at everyone, and I think it's because you like to observe them. So I thought that maybe you wanted to be a psychologist in the future?" Wow, I never thought that she would notice such things. "I might as well say the same to you, Serene," Her cheeks were beet red again. Somehow, I think it's because she is easily flustered. I mean, it's way too frequent, so it's just a wild guess.

"Nah, I'm just kidding. But to answer your question, I plan to take it as my pre-law but take it straight to med. I'm still thinking about it," Serene blushed. "Ohh, you also want to be a lawyer? Small world, it's also my dream to become one," How ironic, we happen to have a lot in common. Maybe, that's why we were both comfortable being with each other.

"Hey, you two! Continue your discussion at the mall! We'll have plenty of time to spend together!" Serene and I both looked at each other's eyes, and suddenly we giggled.

Having to meet someone with the same emotional wavelength as yours. It's the most comforting thing one could ever imagine. You don't have to bother yourself and change because something between you has this connection that only the two of you don't know. Yet, when people see you together, they feel it.

A soothing aura embraces both of you, leaving a vibrant image of sweet love in the air flowing through the wind as it blows. People seeing both of you smile releases quite an amount of serotonin that makes them feel good, and your happiness will begin to spread like wildfire to others.

As we went out and waited for the bus at the terminal, we continued our discussion, and after a few minutes, the bus arrived.

Because the travel was quite long because of the traffic due to the rush hour period, she began to slowly fall asleep inside. Later on, she leaned on my shoulder because I was the person she was beside with.

I don't know what this feeling is...

Seeing her sleep makes me wonder more about her. Her innocent-looking face, plump lips, and rosy cheeks, somehow, staring at her made me play a lot of scenarios in my head. As she said earlier, it is my habit to observe a lot of places. Mostly I found myself enjoying scrutinizing human behavior.

Yet, this is the first time I cannot read a person's behavioral pattern because every time I look at her, my mind blackout.

"Pst, Leo!" Chance from the seat beside ours called my attention. And when I looked in their direction, he was holding up his phone, ready to take a picture of us. "Smile," He said as he giggled and had fun teasing me. I was holding a paper in my hands, which I compressed and threw at him. However, I needed to be extra careful for Serene not to be bothered.

I flicked the paper using my thumb while using my index finger as the holder. It reached his forehead and left a red mark because I flicked too hard. Augustine and Calliber saw what happened and began to laugh loudly, which gathered the attention of the entire bus.

I was so embarrassed, but the ladies seemed to have a good time spending their first day of school with us.

-AT MS MEGAMALL-

As we arrived at our destination, Serene had only woken up without any hints of the events earlier. Yet, as we left the bus, the passengers looked at us as if we had done something wrong, which caught Serene's attention.

"Uhm, guys, did something happen while I was sleeping?" I did everything I could to signal the three, not to mention anything. Yet, as our eyes met, they couldn't help themselves. And suddenly burst laughter, which resulted in Serene piqued her curiosity. "What happened to your forehead, Chance?" Okay, I'm doomed. Now, even the girls couldn't hide their laughter. So I had no choice but to tell Serene what happened.

She laughed harder than the rest of us, and I thought she would feel embarrassed because Chance almost took a picture while she was sleeping. So I whispered to her ears and asked...

"Arent you mad?" She looked at me, confused. "For what?" Do I really need to explain? If she doesn't know about it, just leave it be. "Nevermind," Confused, she stated. "Are you referring to Chance trying to take a snap while I was sleeping?" At least she knew what I was talking about. "Yeah..." I responded.

"I just thought that you'll feel a bit uncomfortable considering that this is the first time we have met each other," She looked at me with caring eyes. As if she wanted to comfort me about something I had no idea about. "Leon, it was just a picture. Don't worry about something like that," She smiled at me and giggled. "Oh, okay, okay," I didn't see it myself, but I felt that my face blushed because I was embarrassed about what happened.

The four of us went ahead while the ladies walked behind us. Suddenly, I heard Serene say something, but it was not clear enough. Dunno, if what I heard was right, but I think she said I was cute.

For the remaining hours after we arrived, we all just had the most fun we had after our summer break. I let her do her own thing while everyone gathered as if we knew each other too well. Hours had passed, and it was already six o'clock in the evening.

I sensed how every detail of their moves suddenly changed, that everyone was already tired from having too much fun here. Especially the most exhausted one was Serene. Having to entertain everyone was quite an ordeal. Thankfully, Serene was here to make the day worthwhile.

As we went outside the mall to head home, I stared at them as we waited at the bus stop. Their eyes slowly closed, their movements became limited, and their expression revealed the fatigue inside their body. I stood beside them when suddenly, Serene leaned towards me as she slowly fell asleep. Keep in mind that we were standing when she leaned on me.

Puzzled by the thought of whether to wrap my arm around her shoulders to prevent her from falling. Or should I follow my instincts? Hopefully, the bus arrived shortly after, which meant that she'll rest much better inside. I put my hands around her waist and accompanied her inside. For each step, I had to tell her to be careful so her not to fall.

Somehow, it was successful...

I thought she would sit beside the girls, but she whispered in my ears and asked.

"Can I sit beside you again?" Dumbfounded, I didn't answer but plainly sat at the free seat almost at the end of the bus. While she followed where I was and sat beside me.

Again...

She leaned through my shoulders, heart skipping a beat.

Increased pulse as her breath reaches mine...

The cold temperature of the bus made her body shiver. I had no choice but to cover her up with my sweater.

As she slept, her eyes...

It was the best thing I could ever hope to imagine.

This day was by far the most incredible time I had in my entire life...
