Chapter 2: Back in time

Taking note of the question, he replied torching his forehead, his horns were still in sight. "Don't let these scare you. That also goes for the ears." He teased.

Sarah did not know how to interpret what is going on. Where did this demon, sorry boy, come from and how is he one of the students in this school. He looked damn handsome now a student. He looked more beautiful just like an angel if only those scary hones were not still in sight. But he was a demon.

"Its irrelevant thinking and questioning inwardly what type of a being I am." He broke her thoughts as if knowing what she was thinking.

"Am a demon alright, but here on earth we don't take the form of looking aggressively scary with our hones and skin." He draws close.

Should she scream for help? Crawling backward on her arse, she plans her escape, but still the demon who is now a student though with hones and ears is still trying to engage with her. To at least ease her heaving chest and mind.

"I never knew you would be able to see me in my true form but with time you with get used to it. Haha, besides, I can account the ones here are no more than 2%."

"Does that mean I, I am a demon?" Fear gripped her the more thinking of the question.

"Yeah, isn't that great." The demon said beaming at her as if her question was a joke but it wasn't. It seem like the demon's facade is a cheerful one but Sarah wasn't getting any of it.

Her body shivered from the last line he spat out. She is a demon too.

She fainted.

Opening her eyes, Sarah thank her stars that she had been dreaming. But.....

𝑶𝒉 𝒏𝒐, 𝒏𝒐, 𝒏𝒐, 𝒏𝒐.. She buried face in her hands on her face realising where she was. Not her bed at home but her dormitory at school. The girls dormitory was situated long meters away from classes.

She looked to her left hand side, stack of books was properly arranged at the bedside drawer with some drugs. They were hers, she knew. There were three other beds at her left side.

The whole time she haven't been dreaming but had fainted earlier. She look around, she still remembers this ancient room from six years before. Everything is just the way it is. Someone trooped in from the door. Its still the demon. He had with him a glass of water. And his hones was still insight, well only to Sarah.

"You need this to swallow your drugs." He stretch his hand containing the glass of water. Sarah sat up right on her bed while she kept staring at him, maybe at the hones which curved out like a spiral art log piece.

"Didn't anyone see you while you went to get the water from this block mini kitchen?" She gulped down the water after taking the pills.

He looked up, 𝒐𝒉, now he understand, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔. "Humans can't see me in this form but apparently you can. They can't tell a demon from a human."

He almost forgot he still hasn't introduced himself. 𝑫𝒂𝒎𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, How could he, she was so terrified of him earlier. "My name is Kai by the way." He cleared out the atmosphere. Sarah still kept staring at him. It seem he needed to change into an ordinary human to clear out the air for sure. No wonder she had been immobile the all time, like some stiff statue. He took his seat by Sarah side and look through the drug which sat at the drawer and read through it the prescription.

"I hope this work," he said moving his gaze to Sarah. "Because I don't want you fainting on what I have say next." He tried to put up a little smile.

BREATHS.

Sarah could only take deep breaths. Its always been a remedy since childhood for her palpitating heart and her heavy head. This time around she needs to be more relax on what this Kai has to say next, the whole truth perhaps.

"As you can see we are at your school which I realised is for only boarders." Kai began.

"Yeah," she manage to say, "you are right. Block C I recall, 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔. 𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚. Then she squinted her eyes up at him, "But I never deduce a demon for being a student here."

"Hmmm... Let's say, i being here was all your fault. And for being a student here, I had my own ways, you wouldn't understand even if I explain." Sarah was confused.

"I was at your 25th birthday party you know. I tagged along with your boss even if he will not let me come along, scolding me that I was always fooling around when it comes to women. Haha"

𝑩𝒐𝒔𝒔. Yes, she recalls he attended the same school as her. But they had never talked than walk past each other unknowingly.

Nickolas Hades, her boss was always keen to himself, very reserved. She even remembered having a crush on him or rather being infatuated by him, not only because of his charm and physique he possesses but his calm meekness and quiet resolve. But he had pay no attention to her or even threw a glance her way. Besides a lot of girls far beautiful than her were drooling over him too, so she stood no chance. She gave up the chase when she met Kester, her lying cheating fiancée.

"Hellooo..., lost in outer space." Kai asked teasing while he waved his hand close to her face.

"As I was saying, Nicko was against my coming only wanting his cousin to come with him but I still remain persistent." He trailed on. "I was by the pool when your fist fight had occurred. In order not to serve as a foot mattress or a punching bag, I jumped into the pool before you did."

Kai stood up on what he wants to say next, there was seriousness in his face. "But then, few seconds while in the pool, I sensed something uneven and stole some glances at Nicko's way. He was about to be stabbed at the back by his cousin. Since his surprise enthralled gaze was on your fight, he didn't notice his cousin motive at that point. Before I could swim to the edge of the pool, you fell leading up here, we went back in time.

Her eyes widened," so I made us go back in time," It even makes no sense while she said it. More like a movie than just reality. "I made all this happened?"

Not you, something did. Something made you do it. It sensed the danger at hand and was quick to react. Such powers are rare among the Astraea descendants. And you now happened to be the only descendants that only existed with such special powers destined to protect the heir to the underworld with your life."

Sarah just sat still, unmoving while Kai kept rattling to himself about this and that, while he strode back and forth. 𝑰 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒂 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒚𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓. It seem she was having a hangover or is it that she was shot by a tranquilliser because she seem so numb. Like her breaths was held still. Whatever it is, she needs to breath. 𝑫𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒔, the voice in her head tries to remind her.

"Who am I Kai?" She hoped she truly wasn't a demon as he had referred her to earlier.

Seeing the confused look in her eyes, Kai could only respond, "I have no idea. But a hint struck when we were in the hall."

𝒔𝒐 𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆, Sarah thought.

"I have no idea of whom your dad was, but something tells me only your mum is linked with your untold history." He became serious, "The blood of Astraea descendants are linked from one female to another. I read in the ethereal records that it had been mandated so. No males are born out of the descendants Astraea."

"So you are saying now that I am part celestial and demon too."

"Actually, part celestial and human, you aren't a demon, I was only kidding on that part. You were so frightened that you were a demon." He teased her but anger only beamed through out Sarah's face. Thankfully she wasn't a demon.

Kai drew a chair from the study table to sit down. "But later in the future we will understand your history better but not right now, while you got a mission at hand."

Both browns drew upward, "What mission are you talking about?"

"To protect Nicko off course, I told you before." Kai was staring intensely at Sarah as she held on to her head as if it was trying to fall off. She doesn't look calm.

"Its OK Sarah, its very hard to take in. I will give you some time off to relax your head. Let's just call it a day." He sprung to his feet and made for the door. Sarah tugged herself under her covers and shut her eyes to get some sleep.
