Russel closed his eyes and did not try to defend himself anymore. It looks like Kiel did not call for help after he saved him and instead left him alone while dealing with those people he offended. After that, he came back and twisted the truth by making it looked like he was a drunken bastard who randomly picked a fight on the street. He even made it looked like he was the kind brother who helped him that night.
